Anyone know whur to get um?
My neighbor wanted to "help" and bent one and didn't install the others one correctly and now its at the bottom of the Columbia river.
I know you can get the cheap ones at a hardware store but I'd like to get the OEM ones.
Thx...

OEM you'll probably have to order from a dealer.

Hardware stores have ones, but they usually rust.

West Marine and those type stores usually carry some similar to OEM and are more rust resistant.

hardware stores carry stainless versions of the pins. I have found they last a few seasons. under $2 each so a small cost. I liked the swivel ones that the dealers carry but my dealer quoted me $5 each. too much to spend to worry about losing again.

Kinda what I figured. Hoping to find the OEM parts somewhere other than my dealer.

Ouch! They're proud of those little buggers... I like the idea of having a short lanyard.

You guys trip me out sometimes. Have $40,000 plus boats with $5,000 stereos and whine about a 5 dollar part!

Call Tacoma Screw and they may have some fancy do-hickies. I'd recommend getting the real name for the do-hickies before you call.

If I was made of money I'd just buy a new boat...
Merely stating that a key ring with a spring that weighs next to nothing wouldn't cost $9 with $12 in shipping.
Besides its not whinning its more of a whimper and more about the having hunt around for them. Worst part is the neighbor didn't offer to replace them.

Newty,

I replaced mine with this style $3 galvanized pin (not sure if that is the exact size) from Home Depot and it's holding up great through one season so far. They are a lot easier to put in and remove than the stock one and no sign of rust so far.

Thanks cab, I'm going to drop by west marine on the way home from work and see if they have a stainless version of that.

if they don't,try hd/lowes. that's where I found mine. iirc, they have stainless. make sure you buy a few sizes to find the one that matches your platform. seems that I went through a couple of sizes before finding the one that fit the best.

Pretty sure those are the ones. 1/4" I took a good look at one yesterday and they appear to be the same as the link.

Newty - saw these in box at the upholstery shop last week. $6 ea I think and they had some with the little lanyard type cable too if you wanted to go that route to never lose them again.

I should (hopefully) be headed down that way again later this week if you want me to grab a few.
