I wanted to start a thread for my Mojo Bestia <Beast>

This is a thread where i can keep track of the progress, help people progress and learn more about surfing a Mojo.

This first video is one i took a couple weekends ago and its just some visual of the regular surf wave.
Its nothing to fancy, i am open to sugestions from those who know decent, user friendly editing software so i can make my videos look and sound better.

Anyhow heres the Regual side surf,
1100 in the rear regular corner
500 center hard tank
650 IBS
400 bag under the center bow cushion.

What i really liked and noticed i couldnt do on my LSV was go through all the wake plate settings and the wave stayed clean the entire time, this is HUGE is changing your wave size and poket for different riders.

This is another video same day.

Its more of an education look what i figured out video on the Goofy side of the boat.
I dont recall the exact weights as we were trying a lot of things but im pretty sure its

1100 in the rear Goofy corner
500 center hard tank
650 IBS
400 bag under the center bow cushion

Looks great! Thank you for posting. Gives me some perspetive while I wait.

No additoinal weight under the port seats or in the starboard rear per wolfemans recommendations and your previous posts?

NO only extra bag was in the bow walkway. I am seeing more of a trend with my Mojo that it likes a ton of nose weight.

It also might be the 300+ lbs of batteries and amps i have on my port side already.

Got out yesterday.

I added my 2 450 bags in the nose instead of the IBS 650

I was running 950 in the nose
500 in the hard tank
1100 in the reg rear
Nothing in the goofy rear.

Water was very choppy due tot he 10mph winds and gusts.

I liked the wave, was real easy to ride with a lot of power, push but the 900 in the nose might be a little too much, still not exactly pleased with the length of the wave, still working on that.

I'm working on it. I'm seriously thinking of buying 2 gravity games 1180 bags, they will slide under the seats from the V drives, this way i can push more weight up the sides and less on the rear corner. I think this will make the wave longer.

I did notice i will have to brace the V drive locker doors for the engine, they had a solid 1/2 bow in them yesterday after i drained the bag. Boo...More upgrades...

How did you install the (2) 400's? Did you daisy chain them together and run the fill just like the ibs and the vent from the farthest 400 back to the vent T? If so how well did they drain?

I basically laid one on each side, i used a hose to connect them together. it filled pretty decent, filled the starboard bag, then went to the port.

Vent would be ideal at the highest point but my vent line is short.

When i went to drain it was an issue because the pump drained the starboard bag but would lose prime trying to pull water out of the port bag. It didnt like the hose from 1 bag to the next.

I ended up having to stand on the port bag to force the water through. I did get it to drain eventually but its not idea to me.

Mike,

What kind of speed are you running at that weight? Wake Plate setting also? This weekend i tried 550 ibs with additional 450 under bow middle seat with 500 in the hard tank 1100 port with 370 port side and at started washing out at 11 or higher. So far best wave has been with 550 ibs 500 center 1100 port 370 tube port and 450 on the port side seats. Also always aroung 500lbs on goofy. Huge with tons of push pretty decent length with plake in center around 10.5 mph

wolfeman131
04-30-2013, 12:23 PM
did you like the wave better with the 2 bags vs the IBS? Maybe run a drain off the port side bag and Y it back into the center tank line under the floor? At this point, what's another hole in the boat?

mmandley
04-30-2013, 02:23 PM
Shane, it doesnt seem to matter what weight i run at 11 the boat washes the wave out with the roster tail, what i physically see from surfing is at 11 the boat wants to really level out and the roster washes the top of the wave.

I like to surf around 10.5-10.8 normally,

I'm not finding that it likes the Starboard weight, for me it seems to want to wash out with the roster more, same as when i go over 11.

With the setup i ran in the above pictures i can adjust the wake plate to any setting and the wave stays clean just changes the height and pocket.

Drew, i wont be keeping the 2 450s, just an idea I'll be going back to the 650.

My plan now is I'm getting a gravity games 1180 bag, i have exactly 84 inches from my batteries to the rear and that bag is 83 inches. This will give me more weight and along the entire side of the boat.

As for the Goofy i can try it and if it works ill buy 2, if i need more then ill order a Enzo 1500.

Right now everything i see with my wave is saying it doesn't want 1100 in the rear locker, it wants it along the entire side of the boat.

I didn't forget about those shots. was a great wave on some calm waters for stock ballast. I'm interested to see what the boat will "really" do once you get it dialed in to your liking... :)

There has to be enough of us now that we should be able to put together a buy for a custom IBS and bags for the rear.

FWIW, our wave is best with the IBS, 370 under the port seats, the port 1,100 at the bursting point and the starboard about 1/2 full. Wakeplate 3/4 to full up and 11.1 mph.

We did do something very similar with Russ. It was a good wave but i wanted more length LOL.

I got a Gravity Game bag from Wake Makers on the way now.
My space from my batteries to the rear of the boat is 84inches, and that bag is 83inches. It will fill the compartment from the batteries back to the rear of the boat, this will give me the weight im looking for in 1 bag.

Then im going to toss it on the goofy side let Claudia try it and if she likes it great, of not then ill order a L bag like the Enzo, or Tige bag to get 1500 in her side of the boat.

I am very interested to see how that Longer sack affects the wave. Drew and I run the same setup, except I use one of the stock 400lb bags that come with the Mojo under the passengers seat.

I am very temped to buy the sumo bag that goes in the center of the floor to add to my setup. 800lbs in the center would really sink the boat overall which I think is what we need for a longer pocket. I may have to place an order on wake makers after I see your results one way or the other.

Drew I would also be interested in the custom sac so that we fill the entire space completely.

Next update LOL.

Got the Gavity Games bag in the boat yesterday, man thats a big arse bag. It goes from the back of the boat on the trailer to the front axle LOL.

http://i639.photobucket.com/albums/uu114/mmandley/20130505_075557_zps02a75119.jpg (http://s639.photobucket.com/user/mmandley/media/20130505_075557_zps02a75119.jpg.html)

I was pleasently surprised to see it has a fill/drain on the front of the bag to work with my X ling ballast system. I didnt use it for this test.

On the lake we filled it, took a while to burp the air but it fits great in the mojo. It runs from the back of the V up to the battery area, and if you have the normal 2 batteries then you have about 2ft of room still. I am running 3 so i only had about 8 inches left.

Surfed it and it was a ton better then what i have been working on.

In the end though we stuck another 400lbs on top of it in the V drive and WOW thats the wave i have been looking for.

I am going to have to come out of pocket big time now because i have to buy a 1500 L bag to make the wave how i like it.

Moved the bag over to Goofy to try it, I'll be honest, my Mojo has to goto the shop, its got issues. I got really bad speed control on the Goofy side, I know it sounds weird but when we surf goofy the speed control is always off, it wont get to REAL speed like it says.

exp we want to go 10.5 set the speed control to 10.5 and we are really going 9 and then you have to speed up almost 2mph to get to 10.5 and then it over shoots because your telling it to go 12.5 then you slow it back down and when my 2 hand held GPS units both say 10.5 the boat says 11.2 Go figure. I have a feeling its something with the Paddelwheel when the boat is weighted.

Long story short, i cant get a consistent wave out of Goofy due to inconsistent speeds. I finally went old school and just used my RPMs like i did in the LSV.

At 2600 RPM i was going 10.5 and the wave was pretty decent. Still a lot shorter then i wanted.
The gravity Games bag fits perfectly in the Goofy side and will give you about 1 foot of storage under the seats still.

Unfortunately we did not run the extra 400 on top and see if it wants 1500 also. Only Claudia Rides goofy and after more then a hour of her riding and testing the wave she was beat. So we called it a day.

I have a video of how fare back on Regular you can get and i was pretty happy with it. More testing still. Always more testing LOL.

This is apx 15-ft back
apx 1500 L in rear V drive
500 Hard tank
300 goofy side
650 IBS

Glad you got to try out the 1,180 and the wave looks nice. But I can't understand how the 1,180 with the 400 on top or going the route above is providing a different wave than the 1,100 in the locker and the 370 under the port seats as it's basically the same amount of weight in the same places, isn't it? I'm only asking as I'm all in for a custom bag w/ you if the wave will be that much better.

I'm looking to swap out the DCP for Zero Off. Sometimes the DCP will fluctuate +/-0.5 mph on us. I was told that was "within tolerances," but for surfng, that variance can really mess you up.

Its no difference at all Drew, I just want it all as one bag for my X link ballast pump LOL. I don't want 2 bags. I was hopping having the gravity games bag would prove worthy, because it basically starts with your 370 under the seats and goes to the V drive but its 1 bag, I really didn't want to have to come out of pocket for a custom or Enzo. Looks like that's the deal now.

I agree with you on the Speed control, i think that tolerance has to do with the paddle wheel. AWS is going to make an adjustment tomorrow, if it doesn't work, i will prolly be forced to go Zero-Off as well. Like Claudia said to me yesterday talking about ballast bags, when you own a 70K boat with a 10K stereo and have 2K in surfboards, whats another 1k now LOL.

I'd still be interested in a custom bow sac that is a little taller & wider in the legs. I think there may be room for another 200+ lbs.

If you go custom in the lockers, do you think you'll max out at 1,500 or be able to get more than that? I'm in if we can push it over 1,500/1,600 lbs

Got a new Enzo 1500 Sac in the other day and had to try it out. WOW this bag is HUGE. 102 inches long. Luckly thats exactly the length of my compartments on both sides muahahaha

Wave was HUGE it was tall, long, i had to speed the boat up to 11.5 to 12mph to flatten the wave a little but it has a Ton of push. I didnt really take any pictures of just the wave, ill do that next time we are out.

Wave was clean with 1/4 plate all the way to Full wake plate, boat had no issue coming out of the water with 2600 lbs.

I ended up running a few hundred in the Goofy locker bag and the wave just gets better. Plus it helps lessen the lean angle a bit.

Not to many pics today sorry.

Weight wise yes bro you have been saying these weights, but like i said i wanted to try everything, its my nature LOL Also i really needed to know it had to have 1500 in the rear to really make it good, those Enzo sacs arent cheap. Nearly 500 each on the site if i recall.

Also i really wanted to make sure i could keep using my X link system on a 1 bag system.

I honestly wanted the Gravity games 1180 to fit the bill, then i would have more room in the V lockers but its ok. We will have a lot of room in the boat, and im not one to carry anything not needed on the boat LOL.

Mike,

In your experience with the Mojo what has been your absolute best wave setup. I have a decent wave I thought, until this past weekent I jumped on a buddys boat Nautique 210 Byerly Edition and was blown away by his surf wave. That boat is not supposed to produce a wave like that but it was so easy to stay in the pocket almost effortless. The wave had massave push. No way that boat should produce a better wave than the Mojo! What do we need to do to improve the Mojo wave??? Dont get me wrong, the mojo wave is decent but I know there has to be a combination to make it much better. I'm running Drew's setup plus I have a couple of the stock 400's to move around. So far the best wave has been with the additional 400 on surf side seat in the corner and the other 400 under the middle bow seat on the floor. That would be 1870lbs surf side around 400 starboard (might try all 750 this weekend to see if it would give it more push seeems like the nonsurfside weight is what is creating the push) up front IBS 550lbs plus hard tank plus the extra 400. Thats around 3770lbs of ballast only. Any more ideas?

wolfeman131
06-07-2013, 12:14 PM
Mike & I are running basically the same setup. I'm using the 2 bags along the port side (1,100 & 370) and he is using the Enzo (1,500) bag. How was the Natique weighted? Did it have the NSS system?

When it gets down to it, it all depends what your priorities are. How much did you want to spend on a boat? How big of a boat do you want? Do you want to have friends out and enjoy time on the boat or do you want to get the bast wave possible and train to win competitions?

You want an incredible wave out of your Mojo?

Throw a triangle sac on top of the bow seats

Yes very close. Maybe I need to try more weight starboard side. I am running your exact setup (pulled from your tread) I have a 750 starboard that I normally fill about half full. Mine is not quite as clean as that. Its hard to believe that is all they way up on the wakeplate. To get mine that long I need to have the wakeplate about 50%. It gets really steep at 100% and not nearly as long. What do you think I am doing wrong. Ah, maybe a speed issue. We generally run a 10 to 10.5 max any faster the boat seem to outrun the rider. That could also be a board issue. But, I would think the triple x could keep up though. I am a big guy at 6'2 240. Maybe i need to buy a few of the bricks and try different placement.

try increasing your speed and the wakeplate should be at least 75% up. You can try some longer fins in the board to provide more speed, but it's normally a rider issue not a board issue. You have plenty of ballast, so just try a few things before you buy anything more.

Like Drew said you can get pretty crazy on weigting the boats, i know some people are running 4-5K in there boats, i almost feel like im a minamalist with surfing LOL.

We are going to try a few things this Sunday when we go out, i just got my Second Enzo bag in so i got them for both sides of the boat finally.

SO fare though like Drew is saying is the best wave ive gotten so fare, but I am dealing with 2 other issues on my boat and thats the wake plate and cruise, both being inconsistent.

I will have some new photos come end of the weekend for this thread and some new thoughts.

What i do want to do is run
Surf side Enzo 1500
Hard tank 500
IBS 650
goofy side 400
and throw a 400 under the bow center cusion and see how that is.

and, you're dealing with the battery & stereo equip weight which should help reg side, mess up goofy

Yes i alsmot said that but didnt want to remind myself of the goofy porblem.. Its frustrating because honestly only 2 people ride goofy on my boat that i give a chit about and its Claudia and Brian..Both are complaining...

Im trying to figure out how to get 300lbs on the goofy, I have no more room in under the seats because the Enzo fills it all, i have room in the bow in front of my Sub..Obviously i needed to have a bigger heavier sub to offset those batteries LOL

well, get one of those complainer-pants to help you move 1 battery to the front, port bow storage area and another to the front starboard storage area to help redistribute the weight. The enzo sac should fit better then, too.

Yea happy Wife - Happy Life, When Brian complains i just tell him about the rule dont complain about the boat or driver when you dont own neither and well Claudia doesnt respond to well to that one she likes to point to the Ring and say HALF....HALF...

Sorry about that Mark, but in the end it will work out, just make sure you get dibs on the garage and the boat fits with room to upgrade LOL

In time my friend,

Heres another of Steve on the Doomswell but he removed 2 of the 4 fins to loosen it up, took on some big rollers, and held it tight.

Yup let me know when your boat is done Berg, we need to do a lake day or something so you can Demo these Doomswell boards.

Anyone else in the PDX area that wants to demo them let me know, Both are potentially sold <by me> already but they are still available for demo. If Doomswell has something else you would like to demo with an intention to buy let me know and ill get something worked out with Brock on getting it up here.

No but it costs 75 to ship a board, i pay for the shipping, when i sell the board i get my shipping back. I'm not going to pay to ship boards nor ask Brock to send me new boards just to loan out lol.

Like i said that's if you want a specific board. I have 2 boards right now

Goofy wave on the Mojo honestly we are still working on, its extremely finicky like the LSV but since its harder to roll the Mojo over, more people in the boat actually makes it harder to get the wave.

I'm running the same set up as wolf. and i've found that if we have more then 2-3 people in the boat we have to put 2 of them in the bow or the wave keeps washing out at all speeds and WP angles. IMO the boat really needs more then the 650 IBS up front although I don't want to get into bags in the walk way and external pumps again.

Group buy on custom bags from your buddies at WM?

When its just Me and the Wife we have bags out and use pumps. It takes a bit more effort, but not more time, and the wave is just awesome. We fill two bags. A 750 on the back corner bench and the 1000 bow sac about 3/4th full.
So ours is as follows.
1. 1100+400 in locker and under seat on the Surf Side.
2. 750 bag full in opposite rear locker.
3. Center tank and IBS under seats filled(roughly 1000lbs I thinks)
4. Triangle bow Sac filled to about 750lbs.
5. 750 bag angled on back surf side corner.
About 5000lbs total.

If we have anyone else with us we don't fill the bags on the seats. We are done filling the 2 non intigrated ballast before the 1100+400 bag is full. I know people don't like to fool with the manual filled bags but the improvement in the wave is Night and Day.

We ran a 450 bag in the bow in those videos plus we had 8 people. We were riding pretty low in the nose, but when we went goofy the boat just wouldnt lean over because we had so many people.

It tends to look better on goofy with less people LOL.

I think Mike is doing same as I am and venting the center hard tank into the IBS.
