I went to this lake to see Allen Jackson several years ago at Aqua Pallooza. It was a beautiful lake!! But unfortunately I don't know of the places to go eat.

Carry your shotgun if you go to Alabama or Mississippi.

There is a big camp ground down by Alexandria city. Never been there with the boat. Went by car one winter to look around so don't know to much about it. Camp Ground was huge though. Had 5 cabins there with docks to moore the boat. Had modern and primitive camping. Be hot in the summer in a tent with no AC

You'll love lake Martin, BIG money lake for sure. We usually ride around and look at the massive homes. If you make it to the south end of the lake there is kaw-liga marina and Sinclair restaurant where you can check out the wooden Indian that Hank Williams sang about. Hard to see it all in a weekend. Other than that it is clean water and deep, I think you'll love it.
The camp ground that was mentioned earlier is called Wind Creek state park and is very nice.

^^^thanks, we are renting a condo for a 5 days on what I guess is the south east end of the lake. Kinda close to some infamous? burger joint called Niffers.

i'll look for the restaurant you mentioned. also going to try for the pizza place right on the water, Charlies?

We did get there. I ended up finding a nice deal for a house that had not been rented for the week so we went for 7 days. The lake is absolutely amazing. It's huge but there is just tons of great water because of all the cuts and coves. There are some amazing homes. We had a couple of mostly rainy days and then spent Wed. morning over at Auburn Univ. retrieving my daughter from cheer camp. Then a few solid sunny days on the water. Here's some pics-- I definitely recommend this lake to anyone thinking about it and will be back there again.

Loaded and ready to roll.

I prefer staying on smith lake myself, very deep clear and clean, but with all this talk about Martin I might have to plan a road trip, sounds a lot like smith, along with the multi million dollar homes as well

I'm down for a round at Chuck's! They even had a couple microbrews on tap. Great place to pull in and grab a pizza and a beer. We only went there once but were staying at the far west end of the lake.
