I am looking at buying an impeller puller to make my life a lot easier. I found two puller online, one by
Sea-Dog Stainless Steel Impeller Puller for $44.99 and Jabsco Flexible Impeller Puller for $89.99. Can anyone tell me if the Sea-Dog SS Impeller puller is worth the money or just spend the extra money for the Jabsco puller?

Yikes... Instead of $50-90 I'm thinking something like this along with a little WD-40 would do the trick.

Unless you plan to be pulling a lot of impellers.

Never used a puller myself, 2 screwdrivers and a pair of pliers and a little brute force and out it comes

Spray the impeller shaft with WD40, pull the coil wire off, bump the motor over a few times, then I use 2 paint can openers to pull it out....

Bingo thats how i do it. Then wipe a little oil on the new ones fins and she slides right in

Mine new one always seems to come with a little packet of silicone lube to lube it up for reinstall.
I used the dual vice grip method, oil, bump, install two pairs of vice grips 180 degrees from each other and pull like hell...sometimes it may not be useable as a back up when it gets out but it gets it out...

Lol I wasn't really directing my comment towards you David :-) I actually have done it with pliers as well and that ultimately worked too

I remove the impeller every season using a pair of locking needle nose vise grips as shown. Works great.

Grip the impeller as shown. Apply gentle pressure, just enough to lock the vise grips.

Thank you Al, the needle nose worked :) It was not easy because the previous owner didn't ever change it. I sprayed it with WD-40, bump the motor and let sit over night. The next day bumped the motor again and used the needle nose. It took about 30 mins to work it out but it finally came and the new one is in. I was shocked that it still looked new after 143 hrs on it. Thanks everyone for your help....

On my lsv I would remove the support arm on the impeller pump and that allowed the pump to spin freely and grip the impeller with pliers. The rocking action sure helped free it up.

One other option. Harbor Freight sells some standard pullers (3 and 4 fork) in a package that works awesome. Around $25 bucks if I remember correctly in a 3 pack (small, med, large). Works awesome.
