Opinions on new purchase???

I'm currently in the market for a V drive, we are selling our 08 Outback DD and at first I was looking at OBV but now I'm leaning more to the LSV... I don't wan't to spend over $35K but... gravity III is a must along with cruise or PP either one, and I don't want over 250 hrs or older then 06 and NO green or yellow :) we usually will have 5-8 people with us so floor room is a big need. Am I way off on my wants VS my budget?

Also any pros and cons on the two models

I looked at this one, I know 280 isn't bad at all but just more hrs then I'm looking for. As far as OBV VS LSV any huge advantage from one to the other? We just started wakeboarding in May and love it but also tried surfing on a friends mastercraft and liked it as well...so now looking for a V drive

Honestly this is one of the Best deals your going to find. Most low hour LSV 06 and up are Mid 30s already.
Unless you dont care for the color i would reconsider this one.

250 hours '06. I know they exist but that's 35 hours a year. I feel sorry for people who spend that much money for 35 hours a year. Rant over, good luck on a new ride.

You have the room for storage of a 21.5 vs a 20.5 then yea i would select the LSV. Its a bigger boat, deeper seats, and more storage.

Both boats so all the waters sports well with OB being better in the ski catagory and the LSV being better in the wakeboard catagory. Both surf very simular but the LSV has a bit more freeboard.

Since one of your concerns is wanting enough room for all your friends then the LSV would be my first choice. Thats why we purchased an LSV over the OB.

OBV is a beautiful boat but I have never seen adults sitting up front in the NG (new generation) one. I'd take the room of the LSV any day. Slightly better surf wake too if you get her weighted right.

LSV for reasons above unless, your boating on a size limit lake, wont fit into storage, tow vehicle not big enough.

They were so similar in length, freeboard and weight that I decided to dig a little deeper and get a boat that would be significantly different for me.

I was initially leaning towards the OBV until I came to the realization that there just wasn't a big enough difference between the new OBV and my current direct drive that could justify spending that much. They were so similar in length, freeboard and weight that I decided to dig a little deeper and get a boat that would be significantly different for me.

I went through much the same thing. Prior to 2006, the LSV had a shallower freeboard. It might have been the exact same hull as the OBV (someone feel free to correct or confirm). It's more like a mini-XLV now. I went for the XLV.

To the OP: have you considered whether you can adapt your current boat for a few hundred dollars' worth of ballast bags to your new interests? For example, Fly High makes a 1000 lb surf bag in an L shape that you can put in either corner of the stern, on the bench seats. I do not want to encourage you to stick with a "wrong" boat for your needs, but this might suffice for a couple of years until you could possibly afford an upgrade that offers "doubt removal".

As moombadaze noted, moving up in boat size might also necessitate an upgrade in your tow vehicle as well.

Thanks for ask the info... looks like LSV will meet our needs better, just might have to wait for that"right" boat to show up....much like the DD we bought...took two years to 12find it but it was a steal... 08 with 60hrs bought it in April 12

Still don't see "adults" sitting up there. Maybe one gal or one gal and a kid but I've never seen more than one adult in the front of one of those.

Hey I know these people! Yeah, can't say we have had more than one adult up there at a time, but the kids and/or dog are up there all the time. We would have looked harder at an LSV too, but wife and I are skiers only, so to us the slightly better ski wake was worth a 1 foot shorter boat.

I went with OBV because I wanted a v-Drive that I could still slalom behind. The LSV wake is brutal for skiing, even at higher speeds, while the OBV wake is actually great at 30+

I was trying not to knock the NG OBV b/c I love the boat. I think it is probably the best crossover boat there is right now if you don't need the extra space, especially up front. Our skiing went from the primary activity to one or two people doing one or two runs all day when we are out. Plus there's usually at least 8 of us if not more on board. If I was a one kid family and still skied like I used to I'd probably be rocking the OBV -- and it would fit better in the garage. The most amazing thing to me about the OBV is that it does throw a nice little wake for skiing but can still be set up to surf very nicely. I don't know of any other boat that does both of those things.

well I dont ski, only wakeboard and wanting to wakesurf... I already have 2 800lb straight line sacs so upgrading a G3 system wont be a problem. Are there differences between the hulls from 06-10 LSVs? if so what year to go with for surfing and wakeboarding?

No hull difference for those years.

The 2006 obv is the same hull and freeboard as your 08 ob. , jump on the 07 lsv Posted in the classifieds the lsv did not change hulls from 06 to 12.

Yeah I saw the proximity as well. The flames can be removed easily with a hair dryer...

Really!! that makes it that much better I was thinking the grey was a reverse vinyl or something but if they are a white flame decals that would be great

Hmmm...I've never seen that boat around here but I do like its price because that means mine should be about the same in 4-5 years. Good news at upgrade time!

I kinda like the flames...stands out from all of the other Moombas around here (GA).
