Poll - PWC Brand

Appreciate your opinion on PWC brands.

Am in the market for 2013 model year.
Three-person seat.
Will use in salt as well as fresh water.
Riders/passengers will be adults.
Wakeboard, ski, and inflatable.

If you have experience with closed loop v. open cooling system, please comment.

I prefer the Sea Doo brand. Ours is an older GTX 4-tec and it has run great for us. Actually looked at a 2013 RTX today and what a fantastic machine. But $14k is a lot for a part-time toy, IMO. Ended up buying my son a 4wheeler instead.

I've had Kawasakis, Sea Doos, and Yamis.....I REALLY liked my GP1300R so I'm going to go with Yamaha. I'll be in the market for a Super Jet before too long.

Haven't had a new sit down in quite a while. I would
think closed loop is better for salt water riding. Most
vacation spot rental places seem to carry Yamaha
PWCs.

We have two Yamaha Super Jets....15 seasons on each, no
engine problems ever! Best water sports investment we made.
Note, I don't think you can buy Super Jets anymore except
if you plan to race them.

We rent a Yamaha three person for a day while on vacation to get it out of our system. They seem to work well and are fun. PWCs are not allowed to come to our house as the Mobius gets upset.

Pretty much my feeling. But.....now that I live near the ocean it makes sense to rethink my opposition. I want a water toy that is relatively inexpensive to own and operate that will survive in saltwater. Thought about a center console w/ outboard engine, but too expensive for me right now. My sons love the ocean and have ridden PWCs. So, this is the solution.....I think.

I only have experiance with the Seadoo brand.

I am a former owner of a 2005 RXT. Their Rotax engine has been around for awhile which to me is a good thing. I even had the ski pylon put on mine,l OEM part. It was fast and fun. I didn't have any issues with mine. It had the closed loop cooling, which I would think would be a better salt water option. Although riding in the salt, you will still need to rinse off after riding.

Depending on how high of performance you want, you can also check the fuel requirements. Mine required premium, 93 octane.

I never liked the vertical waterspout on the yamaha's, and that can be an issue with pulling watersports, the spout lands about the average rope length.

The Yamaha waterspout is a safety feature....but it can easily be removed, at least it was on their older models.

voted yamaha, but would take a seadoo too. riden both, cant go wrong either way.

My brother had a 4 stroke Yamaha one he bought new about 7 years ago. Kept it for about 4-5 seasons. It was fast, quiet, fun, low maintenance. I was very impressed with it. I even wakeboarded behind it a few times. Very nice piece of equipment. I would not buy anything 2 stroke. They just don't like me.

I had a Yamaha FX140 years ago. it was a great machine, 3 seater that pulled a tube no problem. outgrew that quick thou and got the bayliner, 2 seasons with that and now the moomba. don't see myself ever owning anything else.
