Ok folks, the polls are closed and the date is set on August 9-11. Location remains Bethy Creek Resort in Riverside, TX right off of the Trinity River. If you couldn't make it last year then just ask those who where there and they will tell you this is one awesome weekend! Bethy Creek has accommodations that range from cabins with small kitchens to RV sites to primitive tent camp sites so accommodate all budgets (although the cabins with AC are a safe choice to hide away from the Texas heat).

More details will be posted up as we figure them out so stay tuned. If you have any questions about the location or just anything in general feel free to ask!

See Ya'll in August and be sure to visit our FB page!

Most were also able to hide from Ole Blue in the cabins . . .

Most, but not all.

Well, my wife isn't going to be happy at all with me. IF the girls have a good season & don't need to practice, I will be there as the 10K Lakes event is the next weekend.

I'd love to say I'd bring the family along, but don't know that I can risk exposing my 5 yr old boy to anything like Ole' Blue.

if pat goes with yall then yall can split the gas, or take seperate vehicles and one tow there and the other tow home, and then have the wolfes meet yall and ride with and then save even more gas money. where there is a will there is a way!

I'm thinking FF miles, not driving. Just takes too long and Stacy wouldn't blow a day on each end of it just for driving. Wonder how cheap flights would be from Tampa. Hotwire rental cars are cheap. I think we could catch a boat ride with somebody.

Malo, you are you towing the Bestia down there?

Ahh yea no... Cant do it, we are scheduled to get Married in Sep <20th> is the planed date.

We are towing Bestia to AZ so after the wedding we are planning a house boat at Lake Powel for a few days, and non stop boarding, then on the way home we are planning on stoping at the Wake Surf World Nationals in Nevada.
Stay a couple days and then come home.

Once we get more details for the trip i will release the info so if people want to make the teak out to AZ they can or Nevada and want a boat to hang out on they can

So that will be a pretty epic trip with the new boat in tow.

Petty, if memory serves there are only a hand full of rooms to begin with, seems like less than 30 total. Last year people were not able to get rooms because everything was packed. With 8 to 10 already booked you better believe in the next 2 months it'll be completely full, if that long.

They are a very small new company, I think they have alot of videos of people riding their boards and most of the boards are custom made so like they don't work on it till you order it or so. In any case they will be available at the Jam and I am sure Drew wont mind testing them out.

I've got some local friends who are really good surfers and they seem to really enjoy their boards so I am excited they are on board for this year.

I'm just relaying what the Wake the World people told us last year, all the pictures that got posted from Oregons Wake the World had to be approved before being posted.

This is why i didnt post any pictures of our boat.

I know theres lots of pictures and video's.

You will find out at the event, they will tell you the rules, a lot of it has to do with a lot of the foster kids are not sopposed to be in the pictures due to court, and reasons why they are fosters.

If you are attending this event, could you please post up how many people you are bringing and what size shirts everyone would like. This will help us get our numbers in line so we make sure we have enough shirts and food for everyone.

Fellow forum members, I will do the same thing as I did last year. If I have any extra shirts, I will be glad to send them out to those that want them. I just ask that you pay shipping.

I look forward to seeing everybody again this year as well as meeting new faces. Let's make it another great event of sun, friends, boating and BBQ!

There is a motel in Trinity about 7 or 8 miles away and I m sure we could work something out with Bethy Creek that would allow y'all to parks boats there over night as long as there is parking available.

Also look into cove marina. They are fairly close (within 5 miles) and I believe they also have cabins.

Conditions are looking great for the Jam! Put in at Bethy Creek on Sunday - water level was up, clear, & flat all day until the storms ran us off late. Don't hate on the tube - only saw 4 other tow boats all day (2 SAN's, 1 old Bu, 1 Supra), so the kids and dog weren't messing up the water for anyone other than a few toons and fishermen. Not many pics taken, but 68 year old mom got her slalom run in, taught 1 guest on the pair of skis, & I got a few board runs in before tweaking a calf bad on the slalom.

For the most part very kid friendly. The tie up on the last day maybe not so much. Not that it was bad, just some drinking and loud music. Man, mow I feel really old.

All kidding aside my teenage girls were there last year and loved getting to know everybody.

The event is very kid friendly. We welcome everyone and anyone is welcome to come out to meet some great people, enjoy some BBQ, get involved in the raffle and have a great time!

There will be a tie-up Saturday afternoon/evening which will involve loud music and drinking - but nothing crazy.

Bring the family and kids out - I know they will enjoy it.

Bethy Creek has Volleyball court, Cable Park, Beach - not to mention the wonderful Trinity River.

Thanks,

Rick and Amy at Skiers Choice have been huge in making this event a success. It's great people like them and all of the other sponsors that keep this event going.

With that, I am pleased to announce that Sun & Ski Sports as another sponsor for this event. They will be out there with items for raffle, gift cards and store coupons.

Sponsors & Raffle (some items are still being decided):

Skiers Choice - Event Shirts
Rinkers Boat World - Event BBQ and Bringing boats (Mondo? SC?)
Exile Audio - ZLD, Exile Balls
Nettle Props - Yeti Cooler
Doomswell - Surf Board
Bethy Creek Resort - 2 cabin weekend stays
Witness Studios - Large prints of your choice
Sun & Ski Sports - raffle items, GC's

I am probably missing items so please forgive me.

A huge thanks to David Langston for coming up with this event 3 years ago. Started with 3 boats and 10 people. Grown to 100+ people and 25+ boats.

Like they say, everything is bigger in Texas!

On behalf of David and myself, we thank all of you for helping us keep this going. If we didn't have such a great group of people and sponsors, this event wouldn't exist.

Thanks,
Cody

Below are a few maps for those of you who have never been to Bethy Creek Resort before. These will show you the layout of the Resort as well as the path you take to make it to and through the cut.

Bethy Creek Resort:

http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp152/Cody8432/Parking.jpg

The "Green" areas are paved Boat & Trailing parking ONLY. Please keep these reserved for Trucks with trailers only.
"Yellow" areas are unpaved areas where you can park your trucks/trailers.

We are going to have A LOT of boats so please use good judgement on space.

"The Cut" is a man-made channel marked with guidepoles that leads into the Trinity River. This 'cut' is only a few feet deep so use these tips when passing through:

From Bethy Creek Resort:
Follow the guide below.
-Green, you are ok with normal cruising speed - not wide open though.
-Yellow, you should slow it down to just a little over idle.
-Red, IDLE speed. It does get shallow but you will be ok. Follow the guidepoles to stay in the channel.

http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp152/Cody8432/PathToCut.jpg

Passing through the cut:
- Go slow. Idle speed only.
- Empty ballast before passing through (recommended)
- Stay in the buidepoles (From Bethy Creek Side)

The yellow 'hazard' area we normally stay away from (stumps, etc). You are ok to cruise slowly in the area but we normally just stay away.

Once you get into the Trinity River (Welcome to Heaven), you go North or South for many miles. Wide river. Deep (20-40ft) in most areas. No hidded sand bars that anyone has every come across. Glass all day.

I am probably missing a few pointers, so I hope David, Dusty, Brett, Matt or anybody else also familiar with the area, will chime in.

Great maps. Wish I'd had one last year - put in at Hwy 19 bridge & drove by the cut 3 times before finally seeing another boat emerge from the jungle. I'd also add - at Bethy, use the ramp on the left (when facing the water). It does have a hole ~10ft back, but the one on the right was real sketchy two weeks ago.

Thanks Mike, I meant to mention that about the ramp at Bethy.

As Mike said, if you are facing the water, the ramp on your left is your best ramp.

For anybody wanting to put in at Highway 19 (maybe 2 miles away from Bethy Creek Resort), that is a public ramp. You may use this ramp if you choose. If you launch there you will be right on the Trinity River - yet away from Bethy Creek. You can get to Bethy Creek/Event by putting in the river and heading South - maybe 2 miles - there will be a 'cut' off to the right - this will take you into Bethy Creek Resort.

Watch out for the Alligator Gar..Pretty sure one tried to take Brians toe off last year LOL.

rdlangston13
07-25-2013, 10:16 PM
Alligator Gar are harmless, do not be a afraid. The pictures of the cut are pretty accurate but for good measure if you have never driven it I would recommend following someone experienced with the area. We will be arrive Friday at around 10 am so if you are new and want to wait then we will see yall then. Prettyer much all obstacles in the river are clearly visible and it is a river with a current so things do move, just keep that in mind. This late in the year we should not have that much floating debris but always just keep your eyes pealed.

There will be a lot of traffic through the cut and you can pass two wide in there so if another boat is coming at you do not try and turn around. Just take it slow and pass to the starboard side.

Make sure you wave to the fishermen as I am sure they will all be happy to see us...

We are coming out for the day on Saturday with about 6-8 people in the boat hopefully will make it long enough to stay for the raffle. 30 boats looks better than 29 anyway!!

Picked my new sacks up from the office tonight when I got back in town. Trying to figure out I I should just drop them and the boat off tomorrow morning and have them do it or if I should try to tackle it. If I do it myself I won't have time to test them out prior to the meet. Roughly how long does the front sack piping take?

Took me about 4 hours for it all, but if I did it again, I could do it in much less. You've got 1" vents already don't you? One of my hardest parts was pulling out my 3/4" vent line and replacing it with 1" for my center bag. Your boat is different, but it also helped to remove the kick panel under the helm - 1 screw under each cup holder (2) and 3 for my panel. It is just as hot now as when I did mine :-) For the existing lines that I added things to, like the bosworth, I took a small pot of hot water out to the boat with me so I could easily do the fittings. Install the IBS first, it takes the most time.

Lol ....It's not bad, I think it has more water in it than last year. Just needs more wake boats instead of pontoons through it.

I did the river about 2 weeks before you this year, and I did not have this issue. Had my case for Friday and my case for the float. By the looks of your pictures, we stayed about 2 doors further down RR, at Cliffview.

I think our beer issued came from us bringing one of those 150 qt coolers to the river and everyone tried to consolidate the beer to one cooler. All we brought was Bud Light but when I got home I unloaded Bud Light, Bud Light Lime, Coors Lite, Miller Lite, and Michelob Ultra...and at least a 6 pack of each. Not complaining though!

we stayed at moo cow cabins with the big cow in the front yard

The whole fam was planning on coming up Saturday, but now the crew is starting to flake out on me - last minute soccer commitments and work schedules till 3. If I can't pull in some last minute reserves, I'm inclined just to roll solo & let them catch up late in the day if they can.

I'm still rehabbing the leg from my last Trinity trip but last year's Jam was just to cool to miss, so be nice if you see a handicapped, grey bearded, bum under the HWY 19 bridge holding a sign "Will tow for beer". I'll have 3000#'s of sacs, but it's looking like I'll have room for even more "ballast" if someone needs a ride...

Are there going to be any 5-13 yr old girls there? My 7 and 11 YO girls are now thinking about going to the farm with their grandparents in lieu of going with us. Let me so I can tell them.

My 9YO son is going with us. I cant keep him off the boat. All he wants to do is board and surf.

Tonight I am throwing the bags in the boat and getting everything piped up. Hope I get everything tight, tomorrow will be the test.

We will be leaving out tomorrow morning around 8, get there around 11ish.
