That's where I learned to surf!..Real surfing is a lot of hard work... :)

Way more heavyset wakesurfers than real surfers-- they're all skinny.

We just got back from Punta Cana where I had big plans to surf again, 10 minutes of boogie boarding to warming up and I was toast.

I forgot we had the best surf instructor in Hawaii last time. He didn't speak much English but was the paddle boarding champion for that year. My girlfriend and I paddled out with him for the first set, he would get you setup for the wave, then give you a "push" to get going, all you had to do was stand and ride. The he'd follow us in on the next wave, showing off of course. Then paddle to my girlfriend and grab her board with his foot then drag her along scooping me up along the way with the other foot and tow both of back the start...

The guy was is awesome shape, fast enough to tow 2 of us faster than most single surfers... :-)

You have to paddle with real surfing.

You got that right. Been on the water the last 3 or 4 days. I finally managed to last an hour and a half without spittin up a lung. Today I caught consistent waves right up to shore, about 30 or 40 yards. Let me tell you it's a LONG paddle back out to where they're starting to break. But you just want to go back out after you catch a ride that long. Ribs still hurt a bit from paddling out.

Two suggestions.

1. Don't ever come out here, because you'll want to come back every year.
2. When you're out here you'll start getting depressed half way into your vacation, because you know you have to go back home again.

Now I am depressed! I LOVE Oahu!

Enjoy!! (We are planning an Oahu trip for next November)

Eric.

I sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo need to go on vacation...

Not that I don't enjoy 36 degrees and rain
Driving to work in the dark
Coming home in the dark
Filthy vehicles
Huge electric and gas bills for heat

Suiting up in polar gear and drysuits to go play for a few hours...

Well, it ain't Hawaii, but it's 72 and sunny here today in N. FL. I'm busy this w/e and can't get my crew to go out when the water is this cold (about 56 right now) but last week I met some folks that go out yearround. May start doing some "winter" riding.

it's just like the 90's don't feel good to you PNW guys. 90 degree water on a 112 degree day is delightful!!
