Depth Finder

I've got an 05 Outback and I want to add a depth finder to it. I was wondering what kind of depth finder normally comes with them from the factory and where are they normally mounted at?

pickle, i added a hummingbird.

however i didn't like where they put them on from the factory on the side. i was able to drill into the dash and hook it in there and then wired it into the extra acc switch.

cost $100.00

I ordered the factory gauge. The location is dismal and I swapped it with my fuel gauge. Now the location is better, but I do not really use it too much. It does add a level of comfort knowing the depth when in unfamiliar waters where the depth is getting shallow.

Hey I have an 06 lsv and I ordered it with a depth finder and they ended up installing it at the dealership .I like where its at so if you want go to wakesiderides and take a look at the pics its the army green 06

I looked at the factory depth finder, and it does not say what brand it is. I have an extra factory, (never used) white, in dash, depth finder that i would be willing to sell 4 cheap. I do not have the transducer though. I'm sure you could buy one separately. Just an option if you want to keep it factory. [email protected] if interested.

I'm not sure what brand my depth finder is - it came from the factory all set up. But I can tell you that I love it. It works great and I have NO problem with the location. It is easy to see and read and does not interfere with any of the other guages. Thats a sweet set-up. And, you gotta train drivers if you want to keep skiing.

For our outback, we opted for a full lcd screen humminbird, mounted on the dashboard behind the spotter's seat. It shows the bottom profile. Sensor is glued to the single-wall section of hull on the inside of the boat near where the prop shaft passes through the floor

Its unbeatable. Saved our prop many times.

Convo, that's exactly how I'll be mounting mine. I ended up ordering the Hawk Eye. Hopefully it will be here by tuesday so I can install it before the weekend.

The picture is pretty easy. I have uploaded some of my pictures off my computer to a website -photobucket. It gives them a url . then when you post a message you can put in the url for the picture off photobucket and it shows up in your post. Actually all the photo storage sites exchange your use of their service for promotion rights. But no one says you need to use your real e-mail. Go get a throw away web mail account like everyone else, and give that out to anything you sign up for and only give the real one to humans.

An alternative is to use the webspace you may have been provided you by your ISP. Most of the larger ISP's and telco's provide a tiny (5-15mb) site for you to put a web page on or host a few files. Upload there (some use FTP, others use a web based file upload applet), then post that link.

I use photobucket as well, it works great.

I have another question. Where would be the best place to mount the in hull transducer? It needs to be in one of the thinner parts of the hull, but I'm not familiar with the fabrication of the hull so I don't know where it's thicker or thinner. I would think that somewhere near the engine would be good. Any ideas?
