Anyone use the DIY car wash places to detail your boat? Is it possible that any of the ingredients in the different soaps/waxes might hurt the boat. I took the boat today and gave her a good wash, mainly because I miss her. 5 bucks gets ya 20 mins and she looks great now but no sure long term if the chemicals at the car wash might do damage

I doubt it will damage anything but some of the cleaning agents will strip the wax.

Depending on what items you use, As for the exterior non of it will hurt the boat. It will strip wax as Russ said.

Degresser will dry out the rubber, it can also bleach the interior if it gets on there.

Interior i wouldnt use any soaps form a car wash on, it could cause fading, bleaching, drying, and the pressure hose can causing tearing in the seams.

Other then that i dont see a problem.

I personaly hand wash and wax the boat, only use leather cleaner, and 303 on the interior for maintenance. As a daily cleaner i use Tuff Stuff which is a general porpuse spray.

I stop and wash mine every time I take her out of the river. Of course the river is brackish so I figure the car wash is a better option. Did it for a couple of years on my other boat and never saw any issues with it.

That's not enough time to get the tires cleaned Joe.

Dam, fuel and car washes are the shiz in Texas.

Even in AZ it takes me 10 bucks to wash my truck, and thats being fast about it LOL.

I just hand wash it now because 40 a month is a lot to waste on washing the truck, id rather save it for beer after i wash the truck LOL

I would stay away from the brushes. Any dirt and rocks left in the bristles will act like sandpaper to your finish. I don't use them ever.
Bring your own wash MIT as you know where it's been. Other than that, just have a pocket full of quarters.

I normally use the power sprayer on the brush before i use the brush, but yes almost all my scratches on all my cars up till the F350s were prolly from the wash. I used to never hand wash my cars.

Now i have to as the 350 doesnt fit in the auto wash at all and when i goto the you wash it yourself places it takes literally 10-20 bucks in quarters.

Cheaper to just do it myself.

I have been thinking of buying this wash brush from Costco to wash with instead. Will make it easier, there is a lot of realestate to wash on that truck LOL.

Is your 350 over 7ft tall?

If have to measure but i think its exactly 7ft tall, but its the size of the tires that stops me from using anykind of auto wash up here. They woudnt even let my F150 in when it had 33x10 and this one has larger tires then that.
