So when I bought our LSV, I asked the dealer to remove the graphics but I have not had time to take it back to have them removed. The kids like them but I like a more tradional look. It would still have the chrome MOOMBA and I could put the small roo decal that came with it on the back. I think it would look great without the splash graphics. What are your thoughts?

You can take them off with a hair dryer.

I would keep them on until you are totally sick of them then remove them. My .02

Disclosure. I have the same splatter pattern.

I don't care for the big moomba splash graphics either and I'm definitely in your corner.

I have a solid yellow centurion and I found a black tribal art/flame design that I really liked on pic I found on the web. I sent it to my local graphic design shop and they printed it out to scale off the pic I sent for around $350. The point I'm trying to make is that if you go 'bare' and find you want to add something you can easily do so without spending much.

Had the graphics and took em off shortly after purchase. May be the best mod yet IMO

Another vote to pull the splash graphic. I would leave the Moomba. Not as plain at pure naked but clean and classic.

Pull the splash, leave the chrome.

Great looking boat anyway you go.

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll definitely have them removed before launching for the first time in the spring. Ill leave the chrome MOOMBA and polish it up. I would do it myself but I am unsure how to remove the M & O that is on top of the decal....and unsure how to reapply the letters if I did get them off without hurting the boat. I will post a new pic when it's done.

A little heat from a hair dryer will all you to remove the splash decals. DO NOT try and remove the chrome, MOOMBA letters. If you do, you will ruin them. I'd heat and pull the decal around them, and I'd they are on top of the splash, carefully use a razor blade and cut the splash decal around them.

I would not take off the chrome letters. They may not go back on. I would suggest doing some fine trimming of the splash graphics around the chrome.

Got it....Thanks! The dealer told me they would have to order the letters and replace them. Knowing that, would you guys still do it yourself and carefully trim around the letters?

yes, it's a DIY job.

start at the bow & you'll see that the decals become somewhat pliable when heated. I think you'll be able to heat, stretch and carefully cut close enough with a razor blade that nobody will notice if any of the splash is left. If you there is any decal in the space in the "A," I'd just leave it alone or use some heat an X-Acto knife and your fingernail.

better yet, leave it on until July. Bring it to the Sinclair Jam and aafter we all down a few cold ones, we'll pull 'em off together!

+ another for peeling the graphics.

I agree on doing it yourself, just as Drew mentioned. I'm sure they want you to repurchase the chrome letters bc they cost a small fortune.

If the dealer was supposed to do it take it right back there and have him do it. It will look fantastic. First pic I saw of the "new" Moomba chrome letters was on your color boat. Looked awesome.

After you peel them off there will be a bunch of glue residue left on the hull. Make sure you have plenty of 'Goo be Gone' or 'Goof off' on hand which quickly removes the left over adhesive from the graphics. If you try it without, you better buckle up for a long day of scrubbing!!! Be sure to rinse off the hull shortly after cleaning with the product since it is a very strong solvent and could eat up your clear coat if not removed.

Rubbing alcohol may break up the glue residue as well.

I used dabs of gasoline on a wash cloth. As mentioned, def give it a good wash after whatever chemical you use.

Using gasoline will save you a little beer money during the job too.

I don't know if I'd go as far as say that....in My experience it's more like down a few cold ones and WATCH

This year all of my mods are going to be done prior to the Jam and hopefully we'll stay a bit longer than just the weekend.

Thanks for the replies. I think I won't sweat it and drop the boat off in the spring at the dealer. I'll only be out the time to take it to them. Someone told me once to let the easy things be easy. I'll go have a few while "they" do it. I think it will look great! I'll post pics after.

I'll give you that. You all did provide direction and at least brought the required equipment boat side.

Nothing like cutting out a cooler in the dark with an iPhone flashlight app, a dremel, a semi working shop light, and beer..GREAT TIMES!

Keep bitching and next time you'll find yourself without the dremel, shop light (that has always worked flawlessly for me, btw) or the beer!

My dad would always say "no son, its better if you don't help" lol.
I'd wait until a nice warm day and peel slowly. There shouldn't be too much residue except where you start peeling.
I've done lots of them. Just a little heat will do. Also acetone works really well to remove the goo.
Last one we did was on the river with a cold beer or 7 standing in waste deep water.
