Changing Control Knob (Throttle)?

has anyone changed their control knob for the throttle? I am lookign to get a nicer one on my 2002 outback. DO I need to use a special knob?

I changed the one in my last boat, but probably not in the way you are looking to do. I just screwed the old one off, drilled and tapped an 8 ball and threaded it on. I know, pretty cheasy, but it was an old boat and at the time it seemed like the right thing to do.
