I have a RPM Gauge numbered from 1 through 7 I need to know what the numbers stand for. For instance, does the 1 read 100 or 1000. I just bought a new boat this year and this is new to me. Where I bought the boat I should of asked. The dealer told me to get the boat up to 5500 I am not sur where that is on the gauge. I have a 50 HP 3 stroke Mercury. Thanks for your help......

Moomba boats have an analog gauge that read in increments of thosands(with marks for every 200 in between). The boats come with Indmar marinized V8 inboard Chevy motors, from carbureted to throttle body injection to multi-port injection 4 stroke motors. These motors vary in H.P. from 310-370H.P. The max. rpm. on these motors range from 4850-5400rpm. Double check on your make and model, keep me posted. Brian Raymond

Personally I have never seen a tach represent RPM in anything but thousands of revolutions per minute.
Teleflex is a pretty generic manufacturer and I would doubt that they would vary this standard.

If you look closely at the gauge below the pivot point of the needle (or just above it) you will probably see a 'X 1000' or someting to that effect.
