knowing that im going to be running the 1100lb bag I first got started with a little reinforceing

the models with the reversable pumps have all the pumps in the port rear lock and they protrude into the area about a foot--that' valuable space for ballast bag. time to move the pumps

just a shot of the pumps

my relocation is the the forward inside portion of the motor walls that dont hinge down

this board is completed gone now-its sitting on a bench, I'll have to get some carpet to finish the back of storage are to match the side

2 pumps on one wall, 1 pump and the control board on the other

Got to give a HUGE thanks to Drew for convincing me to pickyback the IBS and not install a 4th pump like I originally had planned.

at this time I went ahead and mounted Exile ZLD since everthing was open
http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/cc351/moombadaze/11-1-12005.jpg

running the power wires for the ZLD under the floor. with the floor open it really make access nice
http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/cc351/moombadaze/11-1-12004.jpg

at this point I also ran all the rca cable up around the bow, there are these little tabs on the under side of the seat bases just for this purpose--how cool is that.

since I finally got a boat with the stainless rub rail I also installed chrome vent thruhulls

here is a pic of the black plastic but stil have to get a shot of the chrome one's. I also added one way valves to all 3 vents at the same time. After beinging in Drew's mojo and seeing the difference they make in getting the bags to empty completely it should be a mod of the highest priority-super simple too

Yep, new design for the 13's.

the carpeted board on top comes out 1st-3 long ass screws hold it in place. Remove cup holder next, The fiberglass panel is held down with 2 screws, then you have to loosen the black rubber trim on both sides and slide the panel backwards a little and then lift it out. pretty simple really.

If i was not a chicken I'd notch the top portion of that fiberglass panel and set my sub box into so its up high and stealthy. but just no way Im going to try.

Did you ever think about removing the hinges all together on the engine access side panels? You could add another brace on the opposite side of the one you already installed. It would act as a sandwhich for the bottom of the panel. Then the panel would be easily removable instead of just folding down. Not sure how the LSV is, but on my OBV, the panels hit the sides when they are lowered, and do not lay flat.

moombadaze
11-03-2012, 07:38 AM
Joe, I did think about that and may still do it, but right now I didnt want to drill anymore holes than I needed, and I was one piece short. The panels do not lay flat either, they did on the 08.

I wonder of this is due to space needed for the Cats, i know on my 08 the panel set only an inch maybe away from the exhaust manifolds and it was closer on the drivers side then the observer side. Mine laid flat as well.

Sent from my iPhone newtys droid killer using Tapatalk

Yes when i built my V drive braces i made them for the Port side first, and then just matched that up on the starboard but then my bracket was hitting the exhaust manifold. I had to move the Starboard brace back farther to allow it not to hit my manifold

Were only talking like a 1/2 inch but it was enought the panel wouldnt close properly

boy, some things never go smooth moddin.

dang stereo head unit wont stay on, will power up and then shuts off rapidly, like it lost power-very strange and not sure what the heck has happened. But i will never find out-disconected it completed and am now using the stereo power switch on the dash to turn on the Exile zld and amps, plugged my cell in to the zld with pandora playing and cranked her up. The factory KIcker speakers sound quite a bit better with the additional power. Love haveing the 4 dials to adjust the sound like a eq. Now i really cant wait to get the sub and towers installed along with the exile interior speakers.

bought a sheet of 3/4 birch plywood to make a sub box, anybody want to give me some measurements to get to the correct size needed. thinks its 1.3 for a sealed box.

you got it, figured with all 3 amps being that close together and being in hot Florida it might not hurt to give them some air flow all the way around, not sure if it really is needed but I really dont want to ever redo a system again.

Nice job! Good looking install - Are you using the dash switch to kill the head unit which then kills the amps?

What sub are you using?

I have a complete set of drawings including cut sheets for my W6 install (https://forum.moomba.com/showthread.php?19037-My-little-sub-enclosure) --- Using a Qtc = 0.8, I got a net box volume of 1.31 cu. ft. and F3 = 40 hz, Gross volume = 1.4 cu. ft.

I can send you the complete set as a pdf, but that was for my old '02. Don't know if it will help with your install.

the head unit is completly removed from my system, it will never be used again as I took and conviscated its power wire and relocated it to the amp, we will only be using a Ipod or pandora. I'm also amazed at how much better it sounds not using the head unit-much cleaner sound.

Joe, I did think about that and may still do it, but right now I didnt want to drill anymore holes than I needed, and I was one piece short. The panels do not lay flat either, they did on the 08.

To get rid of the hinges, I picked up an 8' section of aluminum 1/2" by 1/2" by 1/2" channel from Menards and cut it in half so that I would have a piece for each side. Place it right along side of your aluminum angle which is already mounted. The panels fit perfectly into the channel with a snug fit. The channel thickness is only 1/16", but with the added angle next to it, it is more than sufficiant to hold the panels. I am currently adding more pumps and rear bags to my OBV, so I decided to do this at the same time since I already had the panels out. Very happy with the outcome. Please note that you will have to trim about an 1/8" to 3/16" off the bottom of the panels to accomodate the thickness of the channel and the screw heads.

kaneboats
01-07-2013, 01:26 PM
FYI: You can buy aluminum plates and channel on ebay in a million different sizes. Do a search on your size. I bought "L" channel and a plate for my driver's seat and had them shipped directly to my door. 1 min. with a hacksaw and I was ready to go.

while working on the wiring I went ahead and hooked the head unit back up to see if it would work as someone commented a low battery could cause that and I remember having to use batt #2 to start the boat last time out, anyway it was a low battery, headunit works.

Thanks Mike Mandley for the troubleshooting help last night-sorry about the damm cell dropping the call, ended up changing the rca's to the rear output on the head unit, and making adjustments to the settings on the 2 amps and now the sub is pounding--had a empty beer can on the dash dancing and the overhead lights rattling. Freaking awesome.

Is there any reason to do the reinforcement mod you are showing here for a 07 LSV? I upgraded the back bags to 1100's and have heard that you need to reinforce the engine side panels. I see that you did it but it looks like your boat is newer than mine. I have it all torn apart now so its a good time to get it done if its something that's recommended. Are there any write ups for this mod specifically.

if your running the 1100's then you will eventually bow the panels in, there not that strong when the heat of the motor and exhaust soften them up.

think Mmandley has a "how to" someplace in here, so far mine are working great

If someone could tell me how to remove that rear panel that covers the pumps that would be great. Was looking at it yesterday and I couldn't find any screws or anything to remove the carpeted panel in the locker. I need to remove it so I can install my ballast manifolds to the pumps and run my hoses to 3 new bags. I will NOT be relocating the pumps.

couple update I thought I should share. I added a larger bag to go under the port seat base, it was filling from the same pump that fills the 1100lb bag and it was just taking way to long, so I installed a 4th reversible pump I already had. now im right at about 11 minutes too fill all 3500lbs of surf ballast (1100 in port rear, 400 under port seat, 500 tank, 650ibs, 550 on bow seats, 300 in starboard rear) added one switch to the dash for that 4th pump. this photo shows the switch http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/cc351/moombadaze/DSCN0134_zps39dd14b6.jpg (http://s527.photobucket.com/user/moombadaze/media/DSCN0134_zps39dd14b6.jpg.html)also got in on the group buy for the FAE, got a hour today and took the boat out to test every thing and gotta say I love the quite the FAE provideshttp://i527.photobucket.com/albums/cc351/moombadaze/DSCN0133_zps7698af5c.jpg (http://s527.photobucket.com/user/moombadaze/media/DSCN0133_zps7698af5c.jpg.html)http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/cc351/moombadaze/DSCN0132_zps5327f5a7.jpg (http://s527.photobucket.com/user/moombadaze/media/DSCN0132_zps5327f5a7.jpg.html)http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/cc351/moombadaze/DSCN0131_zps8cebf046.jpg (http://s527.photobucket.com/user/moombadaze/media/DSCN0131_zps8cebf046.jpg.html)

Just be aware that the FAE itself does not come off with the quick release; just the platform does. The FAE will still project 5-6" beyond the wakeplate so you will lose that much clearance in your garage space.

If your garage space is so tight you have to remove the FAE each time, its not real difficult, just a couple band clamps. Kaneboats is correct though, the FAE does still extend 6inches apx past your wake plate, this is the Down Tube.

and if I find some light grey minors moss I will swap out the mismatched blue

Nice mods. Do you have a link to the pedestal? My wife would be much more comfortable driving if she could sit higher.

Hinged pump panel is a great idea - nice work! I like the higher seat too.

seat pedestal brand is Garlick, I was walking thru West Marine looking for something else and saw it, it was originally way to tall and I had to cut it down

I was able to find a used one on Ebay. Search for "Garlick fluted" on there. The stock one is 7" high. They come in 9", 12", and 15"+ heights. I bought a 12" and cut it down to 10".
