I am interested in any input from members as to the best prop to use on my 99 Outback. It has the PCM 5.7 310hp? I just bought it and am not sure what size shaft it has. I want to buy a another prop and use the stock one as a spare. Should I go 3 or 4 blade? What about stainless steel. I mainly just use it to cruise around and pull the kids on their water toys.

Thank you in advance.
Bob.

Bob, It is probably a 13 X 13 with a 1inch.

I like both my acme and oj prop.

Depending on what type of lake you are on I would stay away from stainless steel. The main reason why is the niberal (brass) props will give much easier if you hit something under water. The stainless won't break as bad but can lead to a bent strut, shaft and more damage whereass the brass will tear up more, but doesn't cause as much damage to the drivetrain.

I bought my new props from Vince at Discount inboard marine. They can advice you on the proper size.

Hope that helps,
