When learning inverts do most of you fill your ballast? Or do you try to learn the invert without ballast and then as you get better add it? My bag o' tricks isn't very full yet but I still want to try an invert before the end of the season....you know something to build on for next year.

teaching younger kids I fill only the approach side bags and slow the boat down considerably. This gives them a clean beefy wake to pop off of and a washy landing area to soften impacts. Once they comfortable and landing on the board I add weight to the landing side for a clean landing wake still keeping the boat speed slower.

When teaching someone inverts we fill the ballast. I will slow the boat down for sure and shorten the rope. Seems to help allot.

How slow do you slow down too? 16-17?

As slow as you can and still keep a clean wake. For our boat and how we weight it we start at 18 and progress from there.

Normally slow down to about 18.

little to no ballast. You learn the fundamentals better without a big beefy wake to do most of the work. Once you can figure out proper pop on a smaller wake its only icing on the cake when you add more ballast, and you tend to be a better rider.
