Question about bending a couple prongs on a cable

I have an MB quart head unit and am using the Iphone direct connect cable. I had to reattach the cable and accidentally bent two of the prongs in the receiving cable dangling from the back of the head unit. Just curious, for multi-pronged connections like this, is it a big deal of a couple of them are bent over? Still seems to be working.

This is an example of the connector I'm talking about with 7 or 8 prongs in it.

I would have expected the loss of some functionality... but hey if it's working then no worries eh...

Why not straighten the pins and be done with it?
