I've been upgrading ballast and working on my wave this season but am having trouble. I can get a tall wave with alot of push but the pocket seems short compared to some of the pictures I've seen of you guys waves. Right now I have a 750 starboard locker sac, 400 stock ski locker sac, and 2 400 sac's to play with. Last time out I put one 400 in the port locker and filled 1/2, with the other in the bow. The pocket still seemed short and the push limited speed to 9.5-10 max.

How can I improve with what I have now and what ballast upgrades should I make during the off season?

Can I get a nice long wave with this hull?

Thanks for any help!

Try weight in the bow. I put 650 ibs in there , it did lengthen a bit . 10 mph wake plate 3/4 up

Hopefully Canucklehead will chime in here as he has that hull and runs more weight than most and gets a great wave.

In general, to lengthen the pocket you need either more weight up front or more speed. It usually works out that it's a combination of both to get the best wave. Try throwing both of those 400's up front. Fill them about 3/4 full and lay them along the sides to replicate what you would get with an IBS. See how you like that, starting at 9.8 and work your way up to 11.0 mph.

There's another member on here that has a great setup(forgot who), but he suggested less weight in the rear..

I have 3 750lbs bags and 1 300lb, and no factory ballast...

For the port rear locker I fill maybe 500-600lbs(trying less), I move the back bench to the port side seats and place a 750 as far forward as possible on the seat/bench, the last 750 I place in the bow 1/3ish on the port front seat the rest on the floor, then stack the last 300 bag on the port front seat. Running around 10.5...

Also, I have that same board, CBW? We upgraded to a skim board, night and day difference...

Here is the advice from canucklehead

I have the same hull as you and run the following:

750 in the rear locker, 750 in the main lounge area, 400 in the centre locker and an IBS (approximately 500lbs) up in the bow. Get about 2 or 3 adults in there as well and you have yourself a pretty decent wave as far as an older hull style OBV goes.

I think our speed is usually at 10.5 - 10.8mph and the wake plate at 3/4 of the way up.

I believe I have the same hull as you. I run 750 surfside locker a couple hundred pounds in the starboard side locker, 500 center locker, and around 600 in the bow. Usually 3 adults surfside with heaviest in the rear and atleast one adult in the bow surfside. 3/4 up on plate. Phenomenal wave

Thanks for advise, looks like I need more up front!

If I get the underseat bow ballast bag will it work on top of the seats until I decide to integrate it? ie stay put without rolling into the floor

Thanks again

Move the rear bench seat over, works for my 750...

Yes, you could put it on top of the seats, but it will work fine under them and filled with a tsunami until find the time to plumb it all in.

we fill 800 port all the way, half the starboard 800, all the 800 ski locker and put a 400 lb bag on the front left seat and another 400 on the ski locker. Also a 750 bag on side seats. Speed about 11mph wake plate 1/2 down to bury the nose alittle

I'm lost. No way are you getting 800 in the ski locker of an obv....or a 750 on the side seats, unless you are propping it up with something. What gives?

got it mixed up 400 in locker, 800 on top of that...lots of weight up front for sure. Also we sit the 750 where it lean and kind of flops over onto the ski locker...in another thread of moomba supra jam theres a picture of someone doing what we do in a way by using a rope to hold the bag in place
