The puller really is not a puller. It is more something to put pressure all the way around the prop and for you to hit.

Yeah, that's a never ending problem for me. I just disabled it but email works great and doesn't have a message limit!

I broke down and bought one and have used it at least 5-6 times already. You can make your own cheaply with some C clamps. I think somebody on here either used them or used a pulley puller or something slightly modified.

I made one, it isn't pretty but it gets the job done. I use it all the time because I will switch props depending on what we are going to do. I have it down to about a 3 minute job.

It consists of an old c-clamp that I hacked the end off of, then I took a bearing collar and cut 1-1/8" out of it and welded the two together. Like I said it is pretty getto but I wasn't going to wait for a puller to get the new prop on.

This is my first year with a V-drive. I have a 2011 Outback V, my previous boats have been outboards. Can you please explain why a prop puller is neccessary? My lake (Powers Lake, WI) is really low this year and I hit the rock bar yesterday despite being well outside the bouys. (could be the 750 pounds of ballast in my port tank for wakesurfing!) My prop has a few pretty big dings. Boat seemed to run OK afterwards, but I am worried about performance for slalom skiing, so have decided to replace the prop. Looks to me like a big monkey wrench should do the job. Does the puller keep the shaft from being bent?

prop is pressure fitted onto a tapered shaft, so it gets really tight. You need something to basically push or pull it off the shaft after you loosen the nut.
