We took a trip to Smith Lake, Al and had a blast. The water is very deep and clear. The rumor is there is a town that was flooded back in the day. If you get a local map it shows where everything was fences, buildings, roads, etc.

Deerfield - Its a 04 supercrew 4x4 with 5.4 completely stock, does a great job towing. It was about a 500 mile round trip didn't have any problems. We ran 65-70 the whole way and never struggled maintaining speed. The thing I like about this one over the denali is, it doesn't feel like the "fast and furious" always shifting gears. Once it got up to speed it held it fine. The boat doesn't push it around everyone felt safe there and back. Once we got close to the cabin there were a few, what I call "mountains" compared to my normal hills. It was a slow go getting up because we seemed to hit a stopsign at the bottom each one and then go up. I averaged 9-10mpg towing and 15-16 empty.

Brad - you gotta lay off that Ole Miss tag. There's an LSU fan that checks Id's at the gate every morning, he's always giving me crap when I come though. lol

You have no idea. Its the way tailgating was meant to be. Picture this.....beautiful Southern Belles in their Sunday dresses walking around a huge open courtyard while sipping on mint julips or Bourbon and coke. We raise em right down here. I'm a firm believer that all schools should send representatives to The Grove to understand exactly how tailgating should go.

Well these are from last weekend but I finally got them loaded on the computer. We just started wakeboarding this year and decided to try surfing last weekend. I am going to have to put the bags back in the boat as the wave was not enough to push us so we had to use the rope, but we had a great time anyways.

Here's a wake pic from last night, only difference is we put one of the 400's in between the windshield. The wake was super firm and I was getting more air than I ever have before. The boat is pretty well maxed out at this weight, wish we woulda got the 6.0 motor:cool: but it is more wake than I even need. Right here I was riding 75ft at 24.6 mph.

Mike, that is the biggest LSV wake I have ever seen! i'm sure everyone wants to know what your setup is.

It was a family day for me and my wife this past Saturday. We had my mom and niece and nephew out with us (along with our little girl). Brought the tube with us for the kids, first time for them being pulled and they had a blast. My mother even went on it, lol. I think they're comparable from a price standpoint, or at least to where the differential in price makes it worth a look. Right now it's the only SC boat that I'm interested in. The Supra's have nice amenities, but I'm looking for a surfing boat primarily. Also, I've seen a couple posts on this site where the Mojo is "low to mid 60's". I have a friend who got the Z3 with nice amenities for $70. So if a Mojo is really mid 60's, $5k doesn't seem much to make the leap to a Z3. Haven't done enough research yet to know if a mid $60's Mojo is completely loaded (which I don't need a lot of the high dollar options) or not.

Kane, what size is that board and how did you determine what size to get?

that's the 50" GROM. A lot of determining size is based on the level of rider, if there are multiple riders and weight(s) of riders. That board is a bit wider to handle a teen and be pretty stable. Changing out to smaller fins will loosen it up and larger ones will speed it up.

mnp - let's hook up @ 10K Lakes and you can see T&J's new boards. We went with thinner (18" vs 20") and shorter. J's is 44" and T's is 48". The girls are almost the same height, but T prefers a wide stance so the extra length helps to keep her from pearling it.

That one is a 50". Size is based on weight and comfort. We had the good fortune of demo-ing several sizes that Wolfeman's girls ride and this one that fit none of them but fit my daughter perfectly. You can almost tell when you see one of these kids on the right board. It has to be big enough to float them a little without sinking or dragging too much. You can see the catch up speed pretty well when you watch. It has to be small enough that it's not bobbing around and almost trying to toss them off; small enough to maneuver, carve, etc. After several days of riding this one was kind of a real clear choice. Wolfeman has had Lakewakes do custom sizes for his girls based on what they feel and what they like. You could get a lot better info from him than me.

only by a min!

We have learned a TON in just the last 2 months after 2 years of surfing by simply talking with folks who know a lot more than we do. I find the flyboy wakesurf blog (I posted the "how to do a 360" link from here) to be a fantastic resource:

http://flyboywakesurf.com/

Jeff Walker, Father to super-fantastic-totally-awesome pro wakesurfer James, has forgotten more about wakesurfing than I will ever know. And, the entire Walker family (not to be confused with The Walker Project) is incredibly nice and open to helping anyone with advancing their wakesurfing skills.

A Z3 for 70? Wow, great deal, there is one in Alabama I inquired about and they are asking 90+

you gotta try that corn on the cob directly on the grill, dont wrap it up. Medium heat, keep turning them till they get discolored and keep them buttered up while cooking, its our favorite way to have it

Yeah, I hear that all the time - LOL... You guys crack me up. I keep thinking of a famous line from Full Metal Jacket>>> Private Cowboy??

I'll have to try the corn like that Daze. We also do it with a little Sesame oil and seasoning to mix it up. Stays hot in the foil for a LONG time after cooking which is good when you're stuck with a tiny grill and doing several rounds.

Can't believe we don't have any actual water pics - such a slacker. My dad might on his camera but he's a little slow on sharing pics. Took the camera with last night on the river for a change and it sat by itself in a cupholder for the majority of the time. Too bad as we had a bald eagle swoop over our heads about 10ft up and cruised down the beach. Felt like I could have reached up and touched it.

That's an HO Agent we got late last year. We had a Hydroslide but I kept breaking the strap holders jumping (I'm large, lol) . The Agent is a great board. Everyone that rides it won't go back to the Hydroslide, you feel like you are stuck in mud on the Hydroslide. The only "issue " is there is no hook on the Agent but you get passed that pretty quick. The Agent is compression molded like most wakeboards and gives a very smooth ride, nice pop off the wake and easier landings. The strap is a double cinching strap too, so you feel more attached. We still have a Hydroslide for people learning or who don't want to go too crazy, but my family all wants to ride the Agent.

Honestly I've not seen a Sammy Duvall kneeboard for sale anywhere. I looked at a lot of boards last year. I believe the O'Brien Rush 5150 is also a highly recommended board. I can definitely give the Agent a thumbs up.

Hey rsinger,

Our cottage is at Sandy Lake. It is a nice lake just south west of Riding Mountain National Park. We have been there for 32 years. During the weekend it gets a little busy, but the weekdays, we had the lake to ourselves. My 7 year old was on the skis non stop, and my 3 year old loved the tube. It was so hot, there were many days that we floated in the middle and swam off the boat. Just a great month there.

No pics this weekend but I do have some video of my 10 year old's first run of the day. He popped right up and rode it out for a while. This was only the second day he's even tried to ride a board. The first day, a few weeks ago, he couldn't get up for long without the back slipping out from under him. I guess it all just clicked, he did this all morning long! It's a long ride, about 3 minutes of video, but there is a pretty good wipeout at the end. 8)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVLGGf69uss&feature=youtu.be

They day started out pretty overcast and we were on the water about 11:00 made it the 4 Mile cut on lanier and it was just BUTTER. PERFECT conditions for the little guys. Sun came out and was beautiful by 1:00 or so.

Day did not start very well. 10 minutes away from the launch... 1847 vs the log (ok big stick).

Luckily this time the 1847 won but this chunk was still wedged on the blades and required surgical removal. Fake smile - I was not happy to be first one in the water.
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k414/grberglund/MoombaMobiusV/P1090881.jpg

Then the wind picked up and turned the whole lake into a big nasty mess. Lots of tubing today - hardly saw anything else. Boards never touched the water - so Kane if you didn't nail the 360 we'll need a rematch!

Stayed out from 1 till 7:30. Had 10 real good attempts at the 360 but did not ride it out. We're still game for next week. Every week we double the bet. Went through 95 gallons of gas between the two boats. This is how my days went. Wakeup, eat, Wakeboard, Eat, Wakeboard, Eat, Wakeboard, Painkillers, Drink, Sleep. Below is some of the photo's. Shoot, I'm not going to let you slide anymore. Nothing disabled about the way you wake board. I spent nearly an hour the other day trying to get one guy to just stand up.

When are you hitting the ski jump again??

We had another great camping/boating trip. Got some skiing in and got someone to ride the "Tube of Death." I'm big on doing boarding activities but sometimes someone will take more risks and ride the tube. And what would a boating trip be without the cliff jumping.

went up to the lake thursday afternoon and came back real early sunday am. half the dang state is on fire, some won't be out until october when the snow flies. several small towns evac'ed. it was THICK smoke every morning and would burn off around 1 and be clear. the first pic is taken from the dock we were camping off, there's a huge mountain about 3/4 mile across the cove that you couldn't make out until around 1 or so. air quality is horrid here, but still gotta get some time on the water

this is my sis' fiance, his brother on the tooner towing the bro's son.

finally got hooked up with a custom sack from a guy on another forum. similar to an enzo sack and now I know why you upgrade to a bigger surfboat. the wake was absolute money all weekend. never been on a wake that went back past where my surf rope pulls you up... it was amazing and not a single bag in the boat visible that was the goal...

Well, we didn't go out at all this weekend. Finding a hard time lately getting people interested in going or meeting up for some reason. Anyway, we went out tonight after work for a few hours. Got on Lanier about 6 and found this:

15830

Not a soul around...PERFECT!

15831
My three year old and I. this was her second time surfing and she LOVED it. The first time, a couple of months ago didn't go so well. She screamed the whole time. This time she went over and over and over...LOVE it!

15832
Pep talk before we go again...

15833
My 6 year old and I. This was his first time on the board.

Toward the end of the evening the wake started getting really washed out. Same weight we always have when we don't have a lot of people in the boat. (2000# + 3 little kids and my wife). Only difference is the gas was really low.I don't usually let the gas get below 1/2 and tonight it was down close to E so maybe that's it... *shrug*

There's a video of my daughter and I on my Facebook. If we are friends check it out.

I remember that when your rear locker sac was not quite full the wake dropped off a lot. I'm sure a few pounds of gas could make a difference too, especially with a light crew. You are right on the line with a great wake so you need everything you have. Great pics! Wish I could have ever seen Lanier with a lot of water and nobody out there. Maybe next year.

Decided to skip work yesterday and hit up the lake. Only took a few photo's since most of it was video. This is what people have to do when they want to smoke. They have to take a swim away from the boat.

She kept waving with her front hand. I was showing her to hold on with the front and let go with the rear. What impressed us, she would let go with her front hand and wave away with it...and she never let the board spin around.

Awesome. I remember when I would beg, borrow, or rent a boat when my guys were young. It was fun getting them up on the water their first time. Make the most out of it, they grow up fast. Mine are now 22 and 24 and busy with their own lives now. I think my oldest has been behind the boat only 3 or 4 times this year, and the youngest not at all due to a broken finger almost a couple of months ago.

Knock on wood, the knee is solid (have to wear a brace though.) Ironically, I hurt myself skiing and I have no real fears of falling on the ski, however I can't push myself on the wakeboard because of a mental block or something about hurting my knee. Super weird.

I think this is because on a Ski at least they come off your feet, on the wakeboard it doesnt LOL.

ian ashton

That was my issue with the ski when I got hurt; it came off 1 foot and not the other. I now have a double boot ski that its about as hard to come out of as my wakeboard, lol. I think the issue is that I'm a little nutty. When the ski hit the back of my head during the injury it must have knocked something loose.

Here are a few more;

The photo immediately after that great cut picture above, lol. I literally just lost the handle and coasted, wasn't even a "fall" -

Our add-on ballast setup. Ran 21 feet of hose from starboard ballast for surfing, works awesome for when we have a crew of only 3. Once we get the parts that were on backorder we will just have to quick-disconnect from starboard bag and attach the quick connect to the additional hose.
