I'm using the Kenwood KMR-550U I'm still using the factory Aeware controller at the helm and added a second Kenwood KCA-RC60MR on the transom. You can also use the digital KCA-RC55MR but I didn't see the need to spend that much money on one.

I swapped to a Sony unit sometime ago and haven't been able to use my controller since. I also have a transom remote that I need to wire in been sitting on a shelf for a year

swapped it all out for the kenwood kmr700u. it's an awesome hu if all you use are radio/xm/ipod/usb. it has no cd drive and is NOT compatible with the older remotes..

couple of threads on here from guys that went to this hu and I think the general consensus is very favorable. ebay has it cheap..

Looks like the 700 would require some dash modifications as well looks to larger than a single din

From what I understand it is not. Only the face is larger. The part that actually slides in is a single DIN.

Yepp, no issues with my ipod other than it says to install an app everything you connect it, even though it doesn't have an app on the app store

Just picked up a Kenwood KMR-350U and a KCA RC60MR remote to replace my stock Kenwood unit. I will get it installed this week! :)

Yep, I have no problems whatsoever...controls Pandora on the phone too, SWEET! Also able to listen to my SiriusXM app from the phone as well. It doesn't allow me to change channels with it but I can still play it through the boat system. GREAT radio!

I've never got that message and I've used an iPhone 4/4S, iPod Classic, and iPod Touch.

Yes, you'll use the same harness your current radio is using.

I'm running the Kenwood KMR-330 Marine CD Receiver. MP3 CD, Aux input, and a direct swap last year for the unit that came in my 06 Outback, didn't even have to change the wiring harness and the remote works too.

Well I finally found some time to install the deck and am pleasantly surprised to find that the OEM aeware remote works just fine with the KMR-350U! :) I have CD, Ipod, Iphone, and USB stick capability to play with. Now I will have to find another use for the RC60MR remote.....

I got my 550 installed but I don't have use of the aeware remote.. Any reason that I am not seeing as to why it isn't working? Btw I have a factory head unit that is in need of a new home. Anyone wants it give me a shout.
