On our way back in today saw a big ol snake crossing the lake headed right towards a large group of beached boats and a bunch of kids. Swung arould and pulled along side. Big ol water moccasin, about 5-6 feet long. Swung around three times trying to off the bugger, no dice, damn thing can dive. Gave up and gave the group of boaters a warning that the snake was headed towards them. Biggest water moccasin I've seen since I've been in Ga (about 15 years). Third pass over him I was sure we'd gotten him as he was rearing out of the water a foot or two, but when we went back past he seemed to be just getting his bearings... damn snake... May need to get a 410 shotgun to toss in the boat, or a 357 wheel gun with snake shot cartridges, actually maybe just a big machete... no, the gun seems more like it, better stand off

my choice: Taurus Judge

http://www.taurususa.com/gun-selector-results.cfm?series=41

can handle .45 for the 2 legged snakes and .410 shot for the ones that slither

I was under the impression that it was unlawful to carry a firearm on your boat.

My loan from BoA states that I'm not allowed to carry a gun on my boat. I'm not sure if it is a loan requirement or a law.

Would be the only use for the paddle I carry with me... Beat a snake. Sure aren't paddling a wakeboard boat anywhere!

Hey Drew, sweet wepons, I saw some of those yesterday during my 410 Google hunt LOL.

Okay, well there can be issues with firearms on federal land, if the lake is army corp they seem to consider it federal land, just real wet I guess.

Anyway so as to not offend all the law abiding citizens sensitive senibilities I have instead ordered a two handed bastard sword with which to dispatch any silitering creatures I encounter on the lake in the future. If that fails I will be building a flame thrower, which could also be used to discourage lake lice from getting too close to the boat ;-)

Sounds like drew would offer you his mother in law to throw overboard as a diversion

The flame thrower would be useful on the boat. Takes care of snakes and ice but also a way to heat up lunch. This post makes me even more happy to be living in Oregon were i do not have to worry about this.
