Oil change

Has anyone came up with a good way to change the oil in an lsv yet? I've been at it with my fluid evacuator for over an hour now.

I appreciate the reply but that's the exact same pump I have lol. Just takes forever to pump the oil out

I take it you did warm it up? It only took mine about 20 minutes if that to pump out. I did have to pump several times and then pump several times more. I sucked the oil out through the dip stick; I also used the drain tube connected to the oil pan. I just let it drain in a bucket while I sucked the oil out through the dip stick. I already need another oil change so I plan on trying to suck it out through the drain tube this time. I put 34 hrs on it last week so I will figure out the best way real soon.

you're not doing something correctly. With that pump and using the drain line (I would NOT recommend using the dip stick tube) it should take about 15 min to do an oil change.

Like y2 suggested, make sure the oil is warm.

I would not just use the dip stick tube either. Wolf, am I screwing something up by using the dip stick tube? I do realize the crap in the oil pan needs to drain out the drain tube that’s why I used both. I do plan on using just the drain tube next time.

Right. I unscrew a cap in a line that hooks to the engine with that clip thingy. I hit the bottom of the pan easily. Took me about 20-25 when the oil was warm. Warming the oil is the key IMO. I always change mine after a day on the lake. ALWAYS warm up the oven to get the juices flowing. Wolfe and Dusty's Mom taught me that long ago. Bod a Bing!**

Why not use the dipstick.

I think you can but I have heard you cannot get to the bottom of the pan easily.

Yeah don't use the dipstick the tube can get caught in a baffle in the pan and your screwed at that point, use the drain hose.

Sorry for delay. I was working.

New Guy gave the answer. Some folks have gotten the extractor tube stuck in the dipstick tube, some extractors have sections and they can fall off, old brittle tubes can crack/break and leave debris where you cant get to it, etc.

Use the drain line. :)

Yea I always use the drain line. Next time i'll warm the engine first.

Changed all fluids yesterday. Fuel filter and impellar have about 15 hrs on em. Should I change those too?

I only change my impeller every 75. Very easy to do as well. Some do it every fifty and I think most do it every 100. Its just very cheap maintenance. That sucker goes bad and you are in some trouble. Good advice is to keep a spare on the boat at all times.

Yea i changed em last year took a whole 30 mins for both lol. Just didn't know what the recommended service interval was.

Had mine checked every year at the dealer and never had and issue. Traded after 4 years and 160 hrs.

Mine has just over 400 hrs now. The previous owner said he changed them every year

I was changing it every year, but with the clean lakes around here, a went to every-other year. I do keep a spare in the boat.

Good point on clean water. My two boats had the fresh water strainer and our lakes are very clean.

once a year, at most, and I'd say you will be fine.

I run in very muddy water and dock in extremely shallow water (i leave a churned up mud trail while I reverse/turned around) and I still only change it once a year
