Anyone notice on the Newr boats that the weight restrictions, now include gear and ballast.

should have snapped a pic but my 12 XLV states 16 ppl or 2300 lbs of gear and ballast. Hmnn.

I have that with two 750's and a 1200 in the basement...

I guess with the popularity of surfing the OEM decided to add this limit.

with the reversible pumps we can drain "steath" when the Po po comes around through the bottom.

No ballast here i say.....all empty see;)

my '08 says something to the effect of an "all-in" weight including gear and people. Doesn't mention ballast specifically though.

They've said people and gear at least back into the '80s...

My 2001 Outback reads "Persons, Gear, Ballast"

I think mine reads something like "crew and crap"

mine says "if you have to look at this sticker to see if your boat is overloaded, pick your least favorite guest and tell them to take a long walk off a short pier"

If you're worried, take it off. It's only there to be used against you.

How many people ever get ticketed for that as long as you are under the persons limit??? I mean really, I have never been asked by the game warden how much weight I had on board... Usually they just want to see life jackets, fire extinguisher ect

I just thought it was interesting that it said ballast on it my 07 did not.

we have a thread a while ago that argued these points, i really don't care just thought it was something new...

I figure that as long as you are not reading the placard underwater, it's all golden :)

game wardens are the ones who patrol our waterways. they do the sobriety tests, life jacket counts, horn check, pretty much the works

TX Game Wardens are the wildlife police basically. They take care of the waterways and wildlife/hunting laws. Only dudes that don't need a warrant to go in your house and can seize your truck/boat/guns without a warrant!! Bad TX Cowboy Cops

Last time I got checked was a coast guard guy and he was more worried that I had a CO2 sticker visible than how many people or how much weight. Funny how that works. I don't mind the placement of my "badge" but I have seen other ones in the worst, most unattractive places...

I too surpass my limit with just half my ballast. Oh well!
