LMAO! About a month ago after I got fried in the sun during the wakeboard tour, the wife and I were swimming and I was rubbing off the dead peeling skin and watching the mass of fish come up snack on it. The wife freaked, mildly, but won't swim now without her swim fins on to protect her toes LOL

Dang Ian... great shot... tons o fish! Yes, we have gar, and God knows what else. We were hanging out in about 4 foot of water this past weekend... kept hoping I didn't end up stepping on a decomposed hand or something. We lose about 3 people a week on Lake Lewisville.

4 feet is way too shallow... too much killer crap in the mud, flesh eating bacteria, brain eating omebas, nope not fo rme, we'll hang out in 12 feet minimum, but the deeper the water the better. Usually around 20+ where we hang out.

Yep he rides goofy and is much stronger on toeside tricks rather than heelside which is kinda odd. He doesn't like the raley effect on some heel jumps so he won't charge as hard as he does in his toe edge and IMO makes him goofy all the way around.

I have one shot from the other day that I will throw up here. It is not a great shot (from a smartphone camera) but it can illustrate a couple of points. This is me going W2W behind my 2001 Outback with all my sacs EMPTY. I am 6' tall and weight 200 pounds. I have been trying to practice having my legs straight when I hit the wake, which I have a real hard time doing. This is one of my more sucessful attempts.

I guess the points this is illustrating is that technique is really important and a HUGE wake isn't really needed until a rider gets REALLY good.

Although I do have dreams of a Mojo in my garage...

Conditions today on Lake Michigan were ideal. Flat, clear, cool water for miles in any direction. Blue sky. Light wind out of the southwest. Air temp in the low 90s.

Just for fun, I pulled pictures taken on January 2 from the same location. It was a brutal day. Bitterly cold winds bearing down from Canada were starting the lake freeze. Wave action from the north wind even drew the ramp water level down.

As the seven pictures show (see both posts), Lake Michigan is a lake of extremes. On a day like today, it is hard to beat for boating fun.

A few photos from the 4th. Two lakes one day. Karma was with me since I hit the ramps all 4 times with no waiting so was able to pull in and out without any crazy drunk people around.

Sorry no wakeboarding photo's since the GoPro was set to record and I have not pulled stills from it yet. Also we were playing catch with the GoPro we we floated.

I spent a little time on a texas game warden boat last weekend after the fireworks show. Suspected me of BWI and I had to go on shore to do field sobriety tests. Had one beer during fireworks which I told them, but I guess they just assume anybody who says they had one is lying and actually had more. Needless to say I owned all the tests and they let me go. Sad thing is they broke more laws then me (0) on the way to do the tests, smashed into another game warden boat pretty good and went threw two no wake zones. Come to find out the reason they stopped me was because I stopped in the middle of two bridges to take my american flag off the tower so it didn't hit the lower of the two while I was crossing under. They couldn't see that at night so thought I didn't know where I was going.

Yeah and according to WA Boater Laws (maybe all states?) now that is a big homeland security thing - no stopping under bridges or other suspicious behavior. Probably thought you were a terrorist! LOL The flag was just a cover for your covert op.

Not sure it's ridiculous or a hassle thou. If they saw him drinking a beer, or like B said he told them he had 1 beer, I would expect a sobriety test be done. Everyone, and I mean nearly everyone, who is arrested for an intox offense always says they "only had 1". Next step for law enforcement is to conduct FST's to determine if that is truthful or not.

It was an inconvenience for B no doubt, but I would much rather have TPW "inconvenience folks" than get smacked by some drunk on a holiday when I have my wife and kids on the water with me. Just my .02 cents

I am not against a sobriety tests but to pull him off his boat and drive him to shore to conduct it is a bit excessive. These guys are supposed to be trained to tell if someone is drunk, and im sure Brandon was not stumbling about after one beer. I just feel like they could have conducted any sobriety tests from the water and avoided pulling him off his boat and away from the people he was wit to conduct said test. Maybe I am wrong and sobriety tests dont work in boats though.

Your right David, what he should have done was give B a HGN test, which is the test on the eyes. The HGN will give you enough to make a determination if the driver is intoxicated or not and from there you move on to the field tests. Field tests can't be done on a boat but the HGN could have been and proceed accordingly from there

It really wasn't too much of a hassle because I didn't have anywhere to be. I get why they did what they did, they can't do sobriety tests on the boat because it moves around in the water. It just added a little excitement to our night, I was mad nobody got any pics tho.lol I was just worried what a breathalyzer would show after one beer, i've never had to blow before so i was pretty nervous that it would come up too high even though physically I felt 100% sober.

I'm loving the pics of the American flags on your boats, not to mention the patriotic bikinis!

We get pulled by the "green legs" at least twice a season for an equipment check. They generally won't ask about drinking unless they see you with a beer or your acting drunk. I would not be happy about getting taken to shore for a sobriety test after one beer, but I think them pulling us for equipment checks is harassment to begin with.

Yup - that is my IS Squirt. I'm starting to think it's too small for my big arse as I kept pearling and recovering, well sometimes.

I got a little video action but am headed out to Cub Scout camp with my boy in just a few hours. Maybe will post it up later and let the surf gurus give me some pointers on how to keep from dunking that sucker so much.

I also tried the RainX on my old ocean board and it really didn't seem to help it. Most likely just the board though and it did sit in the sun for a few hours before I got to ride it so any wax may have disappeared. I'm wondering if I should sell it off on CL or maybe turn it into a decoration for my son's room that is already a surf theme. Maybe hang it from the ceiling and counter sink some lighting into it?

rca
07-08-2012, 03:21 PM
You should throw it up on the ceiling and put some RGB color changing lights on top of it so they reflect off the ceiling and around the board. Surf boars mood lighting.

This is from the cottage - water starts at about 5' deep, and in the far frame of the picture goes to about 8'. Torch Lake is one of the clearest lakes in the country I think.

http://img.tapatalk.com/a6895826-e37a-eb8c.jpg

Yep, those are fish.
I remember that lake. SUPER clear for sure!!! We have some clear water lakes down here too, but I don't know if they're that clear. Funny thing is that Sanford Lake a couple hours away from you is so dirty you can't see 6" into it! At least it used to be, before the Zebra mussels got in there. I've not been there in quite a while, but I know the weeds are growing to the surface in no less than 12' of water now!!! yuck!

Nicely done, that's my signature move right there ;-)

Two years ago took a nose dive digger like that and it took almost a year to get over the sinus infection I got from the nasty lake water getting shoved through my sinuses during the crash... not to mention the head and neck ache that became the deciding factor to my buying a wakeboarding helmet for those times I start feeling froggy

My wife isn't the best at keeping a constant speed and right as I was coming in for a W2W sh hit 25mph and I went into orbit and caught a digger on the other side of the wake. It yanked the boot right off my right leg and it felt like someone hit me with a bat in the head. Of course I wasn't wearing my helmet! The crashes are what's keeping me from charging hard, but at 37 y.o. I don't want to put myself in hospital. Glad to have you! Good times - crappy weather - no thunder and lightning at least - little wet in the boat!

Thanks to Russ I'm now shopping for a bow sac. We played around with adding weight, then more weight, then more weight up front and the wave definitely improved. The wind and chop didn't help much for really dialing anything in but it was definitely a noticeable improvement, going from 400 to roughly 600 then about 800. However that definitely ups the dunk factor - I doused our friend Stephanie a little worse than intended on one where the water came over the bow and clear up over the windshield and SPLOOSH.

Russ can freeride on the surf longer than anyone I've ever seen. He's an animal!

Gaw wish i wasnt working yesterday, i really would love to get out with Berg, been meaning to meet you for a couple summers now LOL.

Russ is an animal, hes got his surf down pretty well and does ride a long time.

When your ready to get an IBS set up let me know i might be able to see what Wake Makers has on the cheap for you man.

Anytime bro anytime, she was wanting to get you another gift but i couldnt find it and she ended up deciding its a gift better bought by yourself since it requires drilling holes in your boat LOL. It was the pop up Moomba cleates. She does pay attention to your boat wishes, even though she may not act like it LOL. Im happy for you both man congratz. Whens your big day planned for? We are shooting for Next Sept im planning on something really simple in AZ but wanting to do a week long at Mead, or Powel, or Havasue with a house boat and all.

Looks like nov 2nd 2013 for us if the venue checks out today. We want to do a week long house boat at bull shoals next summer as a family vacation. Not 100% on a honeymoon destination yet but we have been tossing around Hawaii.

I really wish I would have just gone with pop up cleats from the beginning but at this point it's not worth it since I would have to get the holes from the current cleats filled in. So probably a good thin she did not go that far haha

Oh, you better be careful. This year, that weekend is TX vs TX Tech. Made that mistake my wedding day. Ended up paying for a dozen TV to be strategically placed around the ballroom. FWIW - Eddie George and the Buckeyes beat whipped Wisconsin 27-16.

That's funny. I got married on UGA vs Old Miss. My best friend and Best Man is an Ole Miss alumnus. Him and my Dad and brother went to the noon game and made it to my 7:30 wedding all in "top shape" for the party. Since it was on a game day I made sure the club house at Bears Best had big screens for all the games. They even had small screens of all the games over the urinals in the men's room. It was a big college football weekend.

Well we are really restricted on date due to my job. We only have saturday a month that works and we were shooting for spring so we could have it all done by summer and boat season but the venue is booked every saturday till august. and then the one in sept and oct that we wanted were already booked so nov it is!

I am not worried about UT, Tech is going to give them a helluva beat down in Lubbock come November this year.

Finally got out to the lake for the weekend. Believe it or not, that's where the boat sat the whole weekend. No spotter. Our friends were a no show. Figured they would be, they got really busy really fast. On the up side, I finished installing the vinyl, the rest of the speakers, and almost got perfect pass in. Still got a couple of hours work left.

I finally got my boat out and took a trip to the Grand Coulee area. We had decent weather and had a great time and the first time in five years that I got back there. The campgrounds aren't as full as they used to be thus not as many boaters on the water. The houseboat rental at Kellers Ferry is closed so that eliminated a lot of the boaters. I like it that way. BTW, there are about a dozen houseboats for sale. I have a houseboat on wheels but one of these years I will houseboat Lake Powell.

There is a ferry across the lake and they run all day long back and forth. Even Fedex travels by ferry.

Just spent a week in Broken Bow, had a blast as usual. Few pics. Kira had her first "REAL" ride on her wakeboard. She has had several 30-50 foot pop up and then falls, well this week she finally got the feel for it and went for a few real rides. I think if we can keep at it a few more weeks she will have it in no time and be able to ride until she is done! Very very proud Dad moment.

Wish I could say the same for my golf game. I figure an 82 on those greens would have been like a 74-76 somewhere else. Crazy fast. Putt for dough and drive for show as they say.

Our water is still clear, some green stuff was forming on the surface which I have never seen before. I think the real hot weather in early July coupled with no rain didn't help, but I think the lakes are spring fed which may help? Definitely is better than what you have there from what I have read. Yup, crummy hours 10-2:30 sat/sun, 10-4 mon/fri, and 10-7 t-th. If you can trailer during the week it might be worth it, but maybe you would be better off going on the wolf river which is closer? This was probably the best water I have had there all year, just after a short rain.

Boat is looking great brad! Do you find that you have to add more weight to get a clean surf wave than you did with your lsv? My lsv was money with just a 750 in the corner in the ski locker filled, the 21v needs the 750 filled and another 400lb sac on the surf side to get a nice clean face.

Man those lakes in the NW sure are beautiful!

We were up at camp doing happy hour and taking a breather. It's funny - when you can ride and ride and ride without seeing another boat or even ripple in the water you eventually get tired of holding on - at least I do! That and over $500 in gas in 4 days between the boat and motorhome made me want to slow down just a little.
