Had a noon meeting scheduled near the lake on Friday. So I to add my one way vent valves from wake makers and play with the wave a bit. 90 degrees no traffic and no friends or family

Only me in the boat

First pic and vid 750 only filled port side.

I was messin with the wp at the beginning of the second video. The end it looked pretty good.

Oh 11mph wp 3/4 up

Second pic center sac filled 1180 it got kinda bunched up in the bow. and 750 port side.

Yep instead of ibs this gets weight into the bow.

And now I need a friend or two since my Moomba/ Supra buddy deserted me.....

Love to help with that but you are way too far NORTH!

Do you get any cavitation or vibration with all the weight? I just added the 1100s in the rear and 1150 in the front, and when I load down front + 1 side my boat does NOT like to take off hard, feels like it's gonna shake apart! Your wave looks nice!

thanks,

no problems smooth as can be. upgraded to the 1235 prop on the new order and have the 345 surf motor.

Looking good.

I reposition my playpen sac every so often to try to get the most out of it. I think i have it too far forward right now as it is pushing up the middle bow cushion when completely full.

Good day everyone. I just started surfing late last year and have just been getting free riding down this year. I have a 750 in the port side and fill the center with normally about 4-5 guys. When running about 9-10mph the wake is pretty tall but not very long so its easy to fall back and lose it. If I increase the speed a bit it just seems too fast that the board cant keep up. The board i'm using is one of the CWB's that are good for beginners (63" i think) is that board just too slow?

I may try adding more weight but im worried about getting too low and taking waves. Any suggestions?

We have the same hull and same board, I run 750 rear, 750 on the port side, 750 in the front and @11mph...adding more weight to the side and front is key, I can surf way back in the wave, just takes practice, the pocket gets narrower the farther you go back..

Good suggestions from parrot, but that extra 750 may be in your crew's way. The weight up front is key. You can also try putting the plate down to increase length. IMO - that is a slooooow board.

Like Wolfe said, add some plate I would say a quarter down or so and definitely add some bow weight.

Also I started on a cwb tsunami, it was good for learning the balance and pocket but you definitely need to get a board with more drive

Surfing last night we filled the starboard side bag a bit and were getting a pretty good curl but the pocket still was pretty short. I might grab another bag to put up front and fill for weight as suggested but as far as board go...Any suggestions on type and length? Does a 60" seems about right? Since the boat is not super heavy I worry that if I go too short it won't be optimal.

The larger the board you get, the less manuverable it will be. All depends on the type of surfing you will be doing

Right now I'm just cutting back and forth but would like to get where I can build up some good speed to get some air. I think surf style is what I am sticking with right now. I haven't done much with the plate yet because it seems when I move it down some the wake stops being as smooth.

ga-lsv05
07-23-2012, 12:21 PM
Front of the wake will rough up a bit, increase boat speed a little to smooth it back out. This will give you a longer pocket and much more room for error

Had a great wave this weekend.

2010 XLV

1450 in the nose - 400s under each side bow seat, 650 in the locker.

1100 in the port v drive locker.

600 in port side rear bench

400 under port dash area

Sorry about the ghetto pic of my computer screen. I have not worked with the video yet.

The sick thing is I was thinking about swapping the 650 ski locker bag to the 1150 gravity games bag. That would put me at 1950 in the nose.

The boat did not hint at taking water over the bow this weekend. Just a bunch of spray from the wind depending on direction.

This sickness has gone too far. 😊

I understand the locker and the bow. Did you put a 400 in the battery compartment, and not sure wher the other 400 went . My xlv has cutout under the rear seat, which I had a stackable Coleman cooler in there.

Brad, 90's today, water is 82. Wind packed us all up and went to the them park Darien lake. Good time had by all.

Hope to hit the lake early tomorrow.

I have to admit that I grab the wetsuit pretty often. Water temp was in the mid 70s but the air temp dipped into the 50s for the morning sessions and 60's for the evening runs. I could live without it but it is just so toasty.

This morning the temp was in the upper 40s in the Portland metro area.

Jmvotto -

I still have the heater and cooler in place. I had a 400 just forward of the heater tubes under the seat.

I am going to try running without it next time I go out to regain some storage room.

I'll try to get some photos when I have the cover off on Wednesday.

Had another question regarding the wake plate... I have not had a chance to do some testing but the controls show two extremes (Boat dragging and planing much more level) When you have the back end loaded with Ballast and you want to lengthen the pocket which position do you put the plate in? If the plate is down it seems that would drag therefore plane out better but I'm not sure what position that is regarding the pictured on the trim

Down (all the way right on the gauge) should push the front of the nose down, which should help with length.

Haven't started playing with the wake plate too much yet... pocket is getting a bit bigger though.

Ok, so I just picked up a IBS and another 750 FatSac and would like some assistance on optimal placement. I'm going out tonight and plan on filling the 750 in the port side, and ski locker sac. Then I suppose I will partially fill the IBS to get an extra 400 up front. Is it better to fill the 400 in the starboard or additional 750? I dont want to fill so much that it becomes dangerous... do I have to worry about overworking the engine with that much weight? We should only have 4 people in the boat.

Boonejeepin
07-29-2012, 03:03 PM
I suggest fully filling the IBS, ski locker bag, and the surf side locker bag. Then place the 750 on top of the surf side seats running from stern to bow as close to the rear as possible. 10.5 -11 mph w wakeplate at 3/4 up position. You'll get really good push and height.

I have never had success with weight in the opposite to surf side v drive locker in my XLV. I find that bow weight makes a positive difference.

Just stop and let the wave pass the boat before turning to pick up the fallen rider.

Here's a pic from the obv07 same hull as yours. Just a driver, 750 rear, 400 locker, 650 ibs, not totally full.
I would be careful adding -another 750 plus peeps in the boat, it ill be dangerously subject to rollers, Bow and port side.
If you have the 13 by 17.5 prop it might start to cavitate . We ran 10.5 mph with wp 3/4 up.

I think what might be holding me back a bit is the CWB Ride seems a bit slow and when we speed up to 11 is hard to keep up without putting lots a weight forward on the board which then I keep pearling. Anyone ridden this board: Shred Stixx River Stixx. Would it work much better?

Ok, had a meeting near the lake, played with the wake added 1100 in the port locker, not sure if I notice a big difference visually from the increase from 750 to 1100. Still have the 1180 filled in the center locker.
Went and had a couple brews on moving day with my supra/Moomba buddy.

We have an 2008 XLV. We only fill up the rear bag (400lbs stock) on the side we surf on... added two fat sacks (400lbs each) one sits on the back seat, and the other sits on the surfers side seat... wake plate 1/2 up and about 11.2mph... wake is really good! This is with no people in the boat... if more people, I shuffle them around to keep the angle of the boat the same (boat just sits lower in the water with more people)... we played around with all the bags etc... and this was the best set up for us (IMO). I can surf all the way back to the end of the surf rope and back again with no problems... Phase 5 Raz and I am 215lbs... Just my .25 worth... (note- more people in the back of the boat, then I put the wake plate all the way down....)

Partner im afraid your goingt o run into the same road block as i have. Your boat hull is only so long and at some point you will max out the pocket length to the boat hull.

This is why 22ft boats are prime for surfing. They are the correct length. Anything shorter and you are limited buy the hull and anything longer and you are still limited by a to long hull.

The whole deal with running weight on the opposite side you surf only works on Regular side, but the reasoning is because as you add a LOT or TON litterally of weight to the regular side you roll the boat over so fare when its at surf speed the starboard corner is literally out of the water so your losing push off the V in the nose which you need for power in the wave.

I have ran so much weight in my right side 2500 and then 500 in the opposite side plus 6 adults that even the regular side felt weak. Yea i ran 3K i have surfed as much as 4k in my boat, i roll deep at times LOL.

Im going to play with it again at Lake Billy this holliday but i honestly think in the LSV it prefers 1K in the nose, 1K in the V and about 400 in the opposite V for regular plus your people. This seems to be what i recall as the days when i has so much push my back leg was wearing out really fast, that just means the wake plate needs to go down and stretch the wave a bit more.

Thats how i run to get these two waves.
You will notice Regular is still much larger then goofy, but thats because on regular you can flat out run more weight before it washes

Boone, I see that your locker stays closed. My 1100 pops my rear door. I have read where people can store gear on top of the 1100 in the xlv locker.. Not mine for some reason.

Boonejeepin
09-30-2012, 10:21 AM
My 1100 will pop the door but with the pump running. After the pump is off the vent line will drain some water out and the door will close again. I guess you could get something on top of my 1100 when full but not anything too big. Maybe a lifejacket or wetsuit.
