I mentioned in a few posts that the girls are competing in the Wakesurf Nationals in Orlando this weekend. We arrived yesterday for registration and also surprised them with private lessons with Chase Hazen.

I'll get more details and pics posted tonight, but wanted to let folks know that the competition will be broadcast live on the web today:

http://thecwsa.org/

My girls ride today at 8:42 & 8:51 am.

They were nervous but rode well. Not their best, but they had fun and that was our goal. They ride again tomorrow and and points from both days are accumulated for a total score. Awards are Sunday. Hope to post some pics of them on the podium.

My wife and I are extremely proud of what they are doing. But, it's nerve wracking on us.

I'm getting some of the video of the girls loaded to youtube now, but you all have to see this one first. Chase Hazen pulls off a 720 on a surf style board:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YehG4SeK4X8&feature=youtu.be

We surprised the girls with an hour long private lesson with Chase on Thursday. He is an absolutely FANTASTIC young man! I was sceptical about him wanting to work with 2 little girls, but he enganged them on the dock and seemed very sencere in wanting to impart his knowledge on to them. He gave them awesome tips, encouragement and followed up with them again today. He also showed me his new Liquid Force board and explained what, why, how it was being built. I will be in the front of the line to purchase one when it is released.

And, as a special treat, the driver for the girls was none other than Inland Surfer team rider Caroline Villeneuve. She rides skim, but the girls know who she is and they were thrilled to get feedback from her. She clued them into some good ways to score points that we were unaware of and the girls pulled those tricks off today.

We also have spent time with Dom Lagase. He, also is a great guy. Friendly, funny and interested in seeing the young ones bring the sport along.

I was a fan of Liquid Force prior, but now I may be their biggest fan! IMO, they have the absolute BEST embassadors for their brand in the wakesurfing world!

I should mention that all the pros and participants have been awesome. The girls have gotten to hang with most of the peeps they have been watching in the internet like James Walker, Keenan Flegel, Ashley Kidd and Bri Chmel.

here are a few videos from today. You will quickly see that we took video of the TVs they had in the tiki hut that were projecting the live stream from the boat. It was kinds tough to view the riding from the shore and there wasn't a good way to shoot our own video or pics.

Thanks guys! We are trying to have them focus on the fun, and while they are having an incredible time, they want to WIN! They have done competitive gymnastics for years, so the drive has been there for awhile.

Petty - this is a Centurion sponsored event and that wave is off a loaded, SV244.

Awesome job! Nice videos! Love how the announcer to a bit of a shot at the moomba surf waves:). I am sure that the Enzo 244 is better but the Mojo wave is not to shabby!

Yeah, its a Centurion sponsored event, so they take shots at everyone's wake.

Very happy to say both girls are having a blast today and had great runs! Youngest was getting huge, aggressive slashes off the lip and older one hit her 360!

Check this out. All of the pros have been incredibly nice to our family. The girls have gotten over being so starstruck and started to collect autographs on their old board.

So far they have accosted: Chase Hazen, James Walker, Keenan Flegel, Dom Lagace, Drew Danielo, Ashley Kidd, Caroline Villenue, Bri Chmel and Jaqualine Fort.

Awesome time!

06-30-2012, 02:13 PM
Sounds incredible and will be a life long memory for the both of them.

Nice wave!! When I bought my LSV I nearly pulled the trigger on a centurion. Not really knowing what was what the deciding factor came down to the forum here and I haven't looked back or had any regrets. It was a fun time, choice between two brand new boats very similar in size, cost, and having the two different dealerships competing for my business. Win for me

I saw their podium pics in the July Thread. Are the surf boards they are holding the prizes?

wolfeman131
07-02-2012, 02:40 PM
hehehehehe . . . YES!

and, they are obviously too big for them to ride, so guess who got 2 new boards?

Inland Surfer and Phase 5 were AWESOME sponsors of the the event. They gave away t-shirts, board socks, and all those boards. You can see them all laid out on the sand in the WakeWorld thread.

So, I got to load up & will be riding this weekend, an Inland Surfer Contagious and Phase 5 Oogle. Keenan Flegel & I had a conversation during the weekend and he recommended to Contagious for me (I have last year's KF sig model) so I was planning to buy one and my daughter had also won an IS board sock earlier. Sweet setup for Pops.

I've never ridden a Phase 5 and have been wanting to, so I'm now set there. The boards they gave out as prizes are special, one-offs. I think most of their boards have unique paint schemes, but these boards have custom traction that Drew Danielo put on himself.

Please let me know how the IS Contagious is. I have been looking at buying it or the Black Pearl. Just picked up a IS Sweet Spot but won't get to try it for a couple weeks!

why don't you come down on the 14th and try it out?!?!

Thinking about it. It's a long way to tow. More money on towing means less money in boat gas tank :). Maybe we can arrange a board rental program!

I'll be ready to ride in the fat old guys division too. I'm working on it.

With all the wakesurfing going on last week I attempted a bunch of 360's. On one I pushed off the wake so hard it almost turned into a 720. Didn't ride it out though. Had a couple where I got all the way around but ended up in the wash. Then, on the last day I nailed it perfectly but was so surprised I didn't manage to ride out of it.
