What do you use to glue them in??
I'm sure it's been addressed 29 times already.
Thanks.

Do you mean the fittings? I didn't glue mine in at all, just tighten them up. Knock on wood, no leaks.

Yes, fittings.. Thks for reading my mind

I've used just some pipe tape. Others suggest the pipe dope stuff or the pvc cement. If you ever want to get them out you might think about how permanent you want it. It's low pressure so I don't see why you need anything but the pipe tape works great.

Wakemakers recommended all purpose pvc cement. I have a port that is leaking enough that thread tape won't fix it so I'm planning to give this a try.

Just hand tighten, leave glue for last resort, Teflon tape is 2nd step.

Went with tape. Wasn't up for the glue. We'll see how it holds

I think taco beat would weld them in... but that's just a guess ;-)

I tried both methods. Only the PVC glue held for me. The downside is that the fittings may be permanent. But - no more fittings popping out and sending 400 lbs of water onto the carpet and into the bilge.

I dont see how the fitting could pop out. When I installed mine on the 750's it was a real stretch to get them in all the way.

On another note I want to take them off on the OEM 400 bags. Does heat help? They are on there good, not sure if Moomba puts glue on them from the factory.

Heat from a hair dryer for 10-15 min, then pop them out. Wakemakers has a great video on their site.

My bags were not glued from the factory. I think the heat from the engine was heating the fitting on the v drive bags and they would pop out to the bags after an hour or so on the water.

Then I glued them and have had no problems since.

Are you talking about the threaded adapter popping out from the bag or the quick release fitting from Fly High with the little red clips?

The plastic threaded adapter was popping out from the bag's threaded insert. After a couple of times the threads were marred a bit and seemed to pop even more often.

A small amount of PVC cement and the fittings have never popped out again.

I wonder if its a design flaw on Fly Highs part, since a threaded coupling should never be able to pop straight out, unscrew is a different issue.

you actually "pop" out the ones that are glued in from the factory ofter you heat them up a bit with a hair dryer.

Hmmm one would think that would ruin the threads on the bags? No?

only when one makes the mistake of using a heat gun instead of a hair dryer and leaves it pointed at the bag until their daughter asks, "Is it supposed to be smoking?"

BTW - I have a factory bag for sale. CHEAP!

Nope threads are fine if the directions are followed

Reviving this older thread.... I got my bag inserts today ( I chose not to try and remove the ones from the factory bags until I had spares). I started off just trying to thread them in, then went to the tape. I read somewhere here that o-ring seal is a good idea. I didn't have that but the tsunami pump connection that came with the sacs had some grease on there rings so I applied a bit of that to the o ring and screwed it in. Now here is the weird part.... I tightened the bottom valve but it turns indefinately ( like its stripped) but I don't feel it resetting as I would expect. I filled the bag with air and tested with soapy water (no bubbles = no leaks). I am waiting for the weather to clear up so I can really test them but it just seems odd to me that I can keep turning this by hand...

Anyone experience this? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Nope, mine I had a hard time getting them all the way in. My wrists hurt after a while hen I did my GiV upgrade ith all the fittings.

Once i used the pliers it wouldn't tighten, so i left it. Tested about 40% fill and no leak. Hope to get out again tomorrow and fill it full. I bought the cement just in case.
Thanks,

Popped off today. I will be using the PVC cement tomorrow. Any concerns about the bilge filling up / components getting wet or flooded?

if the correct threaded fitting(s) is popping out of a threaded sac port, the threads on one or the other is damaged and glue will likely not hold.

That does concern me.... The threads weren't too bad and i noticed Boonejeepin had the same issue. I know they are boat engines / components but i just worry about water splashing around in there....
