I just had the prop shaft pickings go out in my new Moomba. What could cause this? How much should it cost to fix?

What the heck are propshaft pickings and how do they go out? Where did they go? disappeared? someone stole them? they found a better party, or did they go to area 51? how new is your moomba? how many hours?is it a dd or vd? is it dripless or drippy? If its new why have you not taken it back to the dealer? I can go on forever.

it is a dripless shaft. I have no idea what a prop shaft picking is, but that is what the dealer called it. We brought it back to the dealer. It is new with very few hours on it. 2011 Mobius LSV. It is the part right after the V-Drive as the shaft leaves the boat.

They must mean packing. Do dripless shafts have packing? If it is a 2011 with very few hours, then it shouldn't cost a dime. That should be a warranty repair.

My 2001 with 540 hours has the original shaft packing. They shouldn't go out like that.

I think propshaft packing would be what we are talking about here.

The dealer is not very coherent if thats what he called it. On the OJ dripless there are seals. If it is leaking then either the seal has failed or the housing has failed. No water should be coming into the boat at this point. Could you be more specific.....hours ? how long you have had it?.....have you always had water in your bilge? You are too vague. Again I could go on. What is the dealer proposing?

Ok, keep feeding us info & we'll help ya get this figured out. As Doc stated, your model boat, 2011 LSV, has a drip less seal. Shouldn't leak or need repacked.

Where are you located, who is the dealer, can you post up a picture so we can confirm our assumptions?
