Wow. I actually got claustrophobic by time square. There were so many people. The wife and I got on a couple of bus tours and ended up going through Brooklyn. What a difference. Hardly any traffic or people walking the streets.

If I ever go there again it'll be too soon. But I had to experience it once.

.... Agreed. It is fun to experience, though.

It's a different type of energy, for sure.

When I'm there for business and on the Company tab, I love that city. However, I can't fathom raising my family there.

I live a short train ride south of NYC and I don't even go there a lot. I did frequent the city in my 20's but yes there are a lot of people, and most of them are oblivious and rude. And locals do not like tourists standing around looking at things while they are in a hurry to get somewhere.

Can't say that was my experience. Any interaction I had with what I thought the locals were, was very friendly. One African American (politically correct term ?) asked me if his smoke was bothering me, when I was standing next to him waiting for my wife. I was amazed at the consideration.

But I did hear a LOT of horn honking. I guess some people are in a rush.

Different time probably? I heard a number of years ago it was a bad place to be.
