Nice boat Butta! Love the garage shot. It's a constant challenge at our house to keep the kids from using the boat as a giant basketball (or anything else they don't want to put back where they found it) storage container!

.
I've been to the 600 in Charlotte a total of one time. 150,000 people in one place is a little much for me. So we try to make the Busch (oops, Nationwide) race in the spring and the fall. I think I've missed only one of those in the last 4 or 5 years. Even at the Busch race though there's about 90,000 there.

Ya'll should come up in the summer to see Nascar on a road track at watkins Glen ( right in my Back yard)

Except for the new sponsor , what kinda name for an auto race is " centurian boats at the Glen"?? always a great race.

Race fans - Took my wife to a NASCAR race and had seats near the start/finish line. At the race start when the pace car pulled of the track and they came by in a roaring pack with such force that you felt it physically, she just turned to me with a big smile on her face like she had just had an out of body experience. Priceless! - Deerfield

NASCAR!!!!!!!!!!! Is there another sport out there that can make the hairs that you've been meaning to take care of on the back of your neck stand up on end? If it hadn't been for my G/F taking me to my first race in 2001 I would still be oblivious...... Been a Season ticket holder at TMS ever since..... and a great cure for the crowd and traffic after the race Butta is a case of beer and a really comfy tailgate/folding chair, don't forget the munchies and a deck of cards, some of the funniest things I've ever seen have happened after a race while kickin' it with some friends, making fun of drunk people while drunk yourself is only the beggining of pure hilarity

I am a big race fan period. Anything that has a motor and goes. My first love is Formula 1 racing. Went to the race in Indy. AWESOME. Talking about loud cars. I also like IRL, NASCAR, BUSH, Craftsman Truck, MX, GTP, GTI, GTU, Raley, you name it it is races, I will watch it. Oh can not forget Monster TRuck. I go every year with my wife and son. That fun racing. Sometime I race my gas powered RC Truck with the kids on my block. Guess who always wins!!! :D

I prefer to watch the races from my couch where the beer is cheep & there's no line to the restroom.

deerfield
03-07-2008, 03:05 PM
lance - You owe it to yourself to at least once go to the track. Yes, it's crowded and there's a line to the john, but it's worth it. Best part is the start. Can get dull after watching them go round and round. Might be interesting to listen to the driver/crew conversations. Crashes get the crowd worked up. Tailgate parties are a blast. Do it once, then you can go back to watching from the couch. Like you say, GO BIG! - Deerfield

jdsharpe57
03-07-2008, 05:26 PM
Lance,

I second Deer, if you can make it out to the track this coming april race I garantee I can have you drunk before you walk in the gate with some tailgate breakfast buritos and Ice cold beer.....MMMMMMMMMMM!!! Breakfast of Champions! and less money spent in gates, not to mention unless you know something I don't about how thier doing things this year should still be able to bring in rolling coolers as always. I know some tracks no longer allow this due to Jimmie Johnson/Jeff Gordon uproars ( throwing $hit load of empty beer cans at drivers on track after wins) but we should still be good here. We generally go out Fri. night for truck race then hang out in NASCAR nation Fri. night while drinking, wake up Sat. nurse hangover with more beer before and during Nationwide race ( wow that feels so weird to say) stumble from track to somewhat busy parking field, Tailgate some then go home, come back Sunday at like 7:00 a.m. Grill some breakfast burritos drink a little, I don't typically like to get to hammered on Race Day as it makes it more difficult to figure out whether Newman is in 35th or 36th, I like to be able to read clearly how bad he is doing  Anyways, sorry for the rant, I know though if you could make it out you would have a blast!!!!

Buttafewcoe
03-07-2008, 06:12 PM
And, at least at LMS (Lowe's Motor Speedway), you can take coolers in and not have to spend premium prices for food and beverages.
.
You really need to go to a race to experience the sight and sounds up close and personal.
.
aamof, getting ready to get me busch (er, Nationwide) tickets in the next couple week. Me brother-in-law has never been to one and I'll tell you what, he takes one step inside the grandstands and sees the whole layout and he'll be hooked....I tell ya what.

jd, deer, butta

I did go once to the races about 4 years ago, but I guess my experience just wasn't right. I had to go with my boss from work cuz he flew some clients into town for it. Needless to say I had to be on my so-called 'best behavior' that day and only sipped on 2 or 3 Bud Lights all day....UGH!! I'm definately goin to give it another shot though. Would much rather go & kick it with some buddies and have 12 or 13 Buds instead. Yup!

Uh....I hate to break it to you notherners, but....Butta's OB was in the water today. I put in at Whittenburg and rode down to Oxford and back (bout 8 miles round trip). I'm gonna take a 1/2 vacation day tomorrow and do it again (70 degrees today.....mid 70's tomorrow). I'll post pics for those that either want to see or are desperate for a fix.
.
She held $87.00 to fill her up (I been using some of the gas over the winter), but fired right up, with temp, oil pressure, volt, etc., right @ the mean.

Looks like I'm picking up right where I left off. And, best I can remember, it was a VERY GOOD TIME!!!!

I’m a republican thru-and-thru! Who ya BUSH!!!! What I don’t get is why we are expending more energy and recourses to make ethanol!?!?!? To what…reduce emissions!? What a load of crap! We are expending more fossil fuel making this crap than just burning it in our vehicles! This equals 4 bucks a gallon! And some other things like 100 bucks plus a barrel oil!

Buttafewcoe
03-14-2008, 08:07 PM
A global market for gas and a devalued dollar is what's driven the price up.
India and China are no longer 3rd world countries. Their enconomies are thriving and they are willing to pay a premium to keep them going.
.
I hafta say though, I enjoyed it while it lasted. Compared to what other countries are paying for gas, $3.30 a gallon is still fairly cheap.

ditto butta,

In england 1/2 gallon of milk or equivalent ltr cost $4.00 12 eggs cost abot $6.00. certainly would not want to fill a moomba across the pond.

As for ethanol, govt can now get the farms off subsidy ( no offense to farmers) you can make ethanol from just about anything, wheat, rye grass, garbage. Unfortunately it wont meet 1/20 of the demand for gasoline in 10 years, lack of transport infrastructure and big oil.

Nice pictures. I am jealous. The weather is getting better out here. The only thing that needs to stop is the winds. This morning, it was blowing about 55mph out here. Worse on the water. SOON!!!!! By the way I'm still not finished with my stereo project. Waiting for the custom Speaker/Light bar. This evening, I hooded everything up. It sounds sick. I can hardly wait for summer and the Southwest Jamboree at Lake Havasu. Again very Jealous you are on the water already.

Buttafewcoe

Thanks tazz,
.
M, sure it explains it. Basic supply and demand. And as for government spending being out of control on projects like ethanol and altenative fuel, hell that's nothing new. It's the mentality of 'throw money at a problem and it will go away'.
.
The supply of fossil fuel will dwindle, no doubt. But the real problem, at least for the good 'ol USA is our processing ability of crude. All these green people not wanting an oil refinery in proximity of where they live and yet they still jump into their SUV's and do a little gas guzzling, and the billions of dollars price tag of even building a new refinery or drilling for new supplies.
.
Ethanol is not a new technology, but right now it's a 'novel' technology.
.
B

Ethanol around $4.00 per gal, Gas around $3.50 per gal, Ethanol burns and flashes off at a higher rate and allows you less mileage per gallon of fuel burned

BensonWdby
03-15-2008, 12:22 PM
Plus - Ethanol is NOT a green solution. Talk to anyone who really understands watershed issues and chemical runoff issues and the importance of crop rotation and the true fossil fuel footprint of creating ethanol. The idea is a novel idea, and it may be good for the US economy and farmers, but it is not what it pretends to be.

I wish I knew the solution - maybe hydrogen fuel cells? All I know is it cost me $75 to fill my Durango the last time. If I bring the Truck and the boat to the gas station at the same time I bet I hit $150 in the near future.

My $2 worth...
Dave

Buttafewcoe
03-15-2008, 03:25 PM
That's true, Ben. And, it doesn't address what will happen to world food supply when farmers are growing crops for the lucrative monies willing to be paid vs. the poorer countries that cannot pay for food.

Damn, I'm gone for a week and you guys go all to hell.
.
If it's any consolation, Friday the 13th was not a good day for me. Making a beer run, I ran into an old friend, literally!

And he's rippin it up on the keyboard. Thought for sure we had us a spammer disguising as the Butta's-man, but I think we have the authentic, one & only checking back in.

surely you can find time for both...

my weekends are split between boatin and zx-6'n :)
been thinking about selling the bike tho and getting an adventure tourer. too many cops all over the twisties we ride regularly. state/feds gave up some overtime money and cops were thick all year...

The R6's really had their way this year, taking Cameron to championship in AMA Sportbike and then Sam Lowes in World SuperSport, although Kenan did try to give Sam a bit of a run
