Attention all Texas (and surrounding areas) Moomba/Supra owners!!!! The dates are location are set for the 2012 Moomba/Supra Jam and this one promises to be the biggest best one yet!

Location:
Bethy Creek Resort, Riverside, TX
www.bethycreek.com
Voice: (936) 594-2511
Toll Free: (800) 537-6251

Bethy Creek has a variety of lodging options including Cabins, primitive tent sites, RV sites, as well as tenting in an RV site for the electricity. The cabins are single room with two queen beds, bathroom with shower, and kitchen, some water front and some water view. There is a community shower/bathroom for tent campers and the facilities have always been clean in my experience. There is a floating dock with room for 10-12 boats as well as a swim beach and a cable park for you test you skills against.

Bethy Creek is located on the Trinity River which boasts some of the best water for board sports in the state. From the cut in the river from Bethy you can go up or down stream for miles and enjoy seemingly endless glass. The river probably averages 30 ft deep and has no hidden sand bars that we have discovered. Riverside is also located within 10 miles of Trinity, TX in case you need to make a grocery store run to Brookshire Brothers or need some supplies from Alco.

The dates will be Aug 10-12. One last hoorah before summer ends and the kids have to be back in school. I don't have a set schedule for activities, it is pretty open, pretty much just socialize and enjoy the water.

Here are some shots from last years jam as well as some from the river this year.

Do you know the owner of this boat? I thought that I was seeing things. That's my boat, same color and graphics and all and then I zoomed in and saw it was a Direct Drive. I didn't even know Supra had a DD wake boat. Is the sunsport line DD?

Anyways looks like a great place, you all should have a blast. Those pictures of your riding conditions are awesome. Wish I could attend one of these supra/moomba jams but they're all too far of a drive for a 3 day event (Midwest, TX, and Georgia).

Guess I need to move!!!!

We do not have kids but families with them are more than welcome and we will be accommodating. We are all pretty tame anyways, just like to have a few beers and tell stories at night and wakeboard all day. Nothing too crazy!

i do not know the current owner of that boat but i know the person who owned in that picture. his user name on here is matt75. he traded that in for a new axis a20 and i dont think supra makes a DD anymore, this was one of the last years if i recall correctly.

Tegu, glad to hear you booked a room. Being from the Houston Area have you been to Bethy Creek before and are you a GCWA member?? I'll have to get with some of the people who have committed to going who are not moomba forum members and see of they are interested in the BBQ. I know I am!

Brandon, you better bring that sweet new 21v down here. But on the other hand you may make me want one even more after getting I check yours out!

Dusty, we hope to see you and fam down here sporting that 24. We'd have to polish off some shiner bock.

Nope, I have never been and never heard of GCWA until you just brought it up and I googled it. I am about an hour west of Katy and usually head to Canyon Lake to board and surf. Let me know a number and I will bring plenty.

Dusty, We plan on arriving at Bethy some time on Friday. Doesn't matter what time to us since we will already be at the lake house just 17 miles away in Trinity. If yall get there Thursday night Heidi and I can drive up there and kind of show you around, where the cut is ect if yall like and then we can head up early friday morning.

Great. That would likely be or plan. We like to hit the water rarely and would want to Friday.

I posted on FB, but is anyone here that is going bringing kids? We were planning to do at least a small trip without the kiddo this year and we might just make this trip that.

I have to wait and see if my son's select team is playing that weekend or not. Last year I was caught in school for the job and this year looks like a tourney. Might be a last minute call so I may have to just haul butt up in the family war wagon and jump on someone's tug boat if that's cool with y'all. It will just be my son and I with beer and gas money if it goes this way

dusty - 24
matt - a20
bzubke - 21v - maybe

Ah hell, 1 large and one medium.

rdlangston13
06-22-2012, 11:05 PM
Cody should be able to answer that and berge, we will let you know who to make payment too once we order. It will either be cody or I since we are going to split the cost up front.

I played around with my navionics app today to get an idea of how much rideable area the river has and this is what I came up with. I am starting from the hwy 19 bridge since you cannot legally tow a rider under a bridge.

So from the hwy 19 bridge you can pull a rider for 8.9 miles down river without having to turn around before you actually make it into the lake.

You can also go upriver from the hwy 19 bridge for 14.7 miles without having to turn around before you encounter the next bridge (I've never been past the next bridge). So our total rideable area is 23 miles or so. Don't run out of gas

its narrow, definitely cant get more than two wide and even then you only have about a yard separating yall. just have to take it at idle. Bethy Creek dredged and made that cut for people at the resort to have quicker river access. If you are nervous about it then the Hwy 19 launch is about 3-4 mile tow and it is right on the river but you have no dock. Last year when the water level dropped this was the only option for launching but I use the cut very regularly when at full pool and i have made it past other boats in the cut going the opposite direction. The channel is marked on the bethy creek side so just take it slow and stay in the markers until into the river and go through with your ballast drained.

Exile is our latest sponsor for this event and they have donated a ZLD EQ to be raffled off. The money will be used to help pay for the side dishes for the BBQ dinner Saturday night. I am a ZLD owner and take it from me, if you don't have an EQ in your boat, this is the one you want!

Hey guys, just wanted to add an update to this!

Seth, from www.tantrumtowropes.com, has generously offered to let us demo his wireless speed control system for the jam! I will have it installed on my boat and anyone will be more than welcome to a pull to see what you think.

In case you haven't seen or read anything about it, this is from the website:

"Tantrum Tow Ropes is the first to introduce wireless speed control. This unit allows the rider to fine tune the boat speed from the water. Using the Perfect Pass, Moomba Digital Pro or Moomba EZ Cruise, this revolutionary product will allow riders to take their abilities to the next level and make the day on the lake more enjoyable for all!"

I am pumped to try it out and hope you guys will be as well!

*Also, I talked with JT at Nettle Props in Austin and he acted interested in making an appearance with a few different props. I gave him all of the info he needs in case he did decide to make the trip!

Just found out that Bethy Creek is all booked up as far as rooms go for the weekend. I am sure they still have tent and RV sites left and there is a motel in Trinity about 9 miles from Bethy Creek so if you have not booked and can't get a room at the resort that is an option!

Any if you stay in Trinity you can bring everyone Kolaches every morning!

Ron, we will be coming up thursday (not staying the night) to chill with Dusty and Shane. We plan on going into trinity for some mexican food that night, yall should join! We will be more than happy to show everyone the cut thursday afternoon, it can be a little nerve racking your first time so if yall want we can even use my boat. It is whatever. Thursday night we are staying at the lake house (about 16 miles from bethy creek) and we will be at bethy probably around 9:00-9:30 friday morning.

Brad, what to bring hmmmm, charcoal for the grilles and maybe some food for friday night, saturday morning and lunch, and sunday morning and lunch. oh and dont forget your sunscreen!

Is there a spot along the river to beach up and hang out while were not riding?

On the actual river, not really. Maybe one place close to a rock cliff - I'm sure David knows where I'm talking about and will show you. While the river is wide and you could chill in the middle, not too many people do. But you can - we have before.

The best place to tie up is in front of Bethy Creek (Before you take the cut to the river). There is a 'no wake bouy' with about 4ft of water where we all like to tie up at. Perfect spot. We will be sure to point it out.

Speaking of tie ups, for those that can link up their systems, bring your cables!

For all of those getting there early (Thursday/Friday Morning), David will show all of this to you. We will also point them out again when we head up Saturday morning.

When I get there I would like to grab a few peoples numbers so on Saturday amongst all the riding, etc I can get in contact with a few of you and let yall know when we are going to go tie up, etc.

I will post my number to the event FB page so anyone can reach me.

Also about the tie up, the cliffs Cody is referring to is about 1/4 mile up river from the Bethy Creek cut. There is a spot in the river where there is a hard 90 turn and it's like 50 ft deep and plenty wide to have people tied up and still allow boats to pass. No places to beach however. If you like water shallow enough to touch then the best place is the sandbar at bethy creek. Fear not those of you who don't beach your boats, it's deep enough to where you wont drag bottom but shallow enough to stand up and toss a football around

Haha, now you can test it in your boat! Mines a little noisy, not bad just a little and I think it's due to the alignment from a semi messed up motor mount

Well Matt was going to come but he just experienced a LisFranc injury on his right foot so I am not sure if he is still planning to come. If so yes he will be there in his A20 and we also have a guy named Brandon Miller who is coming in an A20 but I was only stating the Moombas and Supras on here since it is our jam.

Damn right I'm going RD...lol- David! Can't walk or ride, but I've been away from the boat/water too long! I'm in the blk/orange Axis so if anyone needs help with nav or making it through the cut- just yell.

I am absolutely thrilled at seeing all the people coming from such long distances! I never would have thought this would climb to being so big. Now I see the progress this has made and realize the sky is the limit. I am really looking forward to this event, I may not even sleep!

To all of you coming from out of state, hundreds of miles, and the locals, etc, myself and David deeply Thank You for all coming together to make such an awesome event happen. We hope that everyone enjoys this years event and can only hope it will grow even bigger next year.

Today the shirts arrived and everything looks to be in order. I can't wait to hand these out. (THANKS TO SKIERS CHOICE FOR SPONSORING THE SHIRTS!!)

I also had the opportunity to stop by Rinker's Boat World to hand out some shirts and I got a chance to see the boat that they are bringing to the Jam - a Red Launch 22! Completely decked out!

In advance I would like to thank the following:

Skiers Choice - You are the reason for this event. You provided us the boats of choice and this is our way of celebrating that. As well as sponsoring all of the shirts for the event. Rick & Amy at Skiers Choice are top notch!

Exile Audio - Brian is not only donating some expensive equipment(ZLD, Exile Balls, etc) for raffle but he is also making the flight from Oregon to attend the event. This effort says a lot for a Vendor/Customer relationship. (Try not to work too much and enjoy the trip Brian!)

Rinker's Boat World - One of the nations largest Skiers Choice Dealers! They are donating a CWB Wakeboard for Raffle, numerous gift cards with values of $50, $100, $100, $250! Also, they are bringing a completely loaded out Supra Launch 22! 'Official Towboat of the Texas Jam'?? Hmmm...

Bethy Creek Resort - One of the nicest places to stay with a perfect location on the water and access to Trinity River - the butter of all butter. This place is top notch as far as location, cabins, access - oh, did I mention the CABLE PARK? With LIGHTS?? Yeah.

Bring your drinks of choice, sun screen, boards, sunglasses and lets have a great time! Let's show all the other reunions just how BIG things are here in Texas!

15724

Thanks,
Cody

Had a blast and thanks so much to everyone who came out to make this event come together.

I want to give a special thanks to
Brian and Mike coming from Oregon to represent Exile Audio and donating an Exile ZLD for the raffle.

JT Nettles and Robert for coming out and bringing props for demo and sale and donating a $300 gift card for the raffle.

Rinkers boat world for donating 5 $100 gift cards and a CWB faction/saphire for the raffle as well as bringing a new Supra 22 Launch for everyone to demo. (sorry about the damage).

Shane Brammal for bringing some of the best tasting BBQ and also preparing it!

Drew Wolfe for coming down from GA with a pile of potato chips for everyone to snack on.

Hope everyone had fun and I will work on getting my pictures up as soon as I can and same for Cody!

All,

Thanks for putting this together. My wife and I didn't get to stay long at all, but we enjoyed meeting the people we met and enjoyed discovering a new place. The trip home was an hour an 40 minutes, so we'll definitely add the T to our rotation.

Although we didn't get to hang out much at all, everyone we did meet was extremely laid back and friendly. I hope to get to hang out with you guys again soon. My boat is open anytime anyone needs a ride or wants to just relax and chat.

To the guys from out of the state (or area for that matter) that made the trek, you guys are why this message board is like a family. I won't get into the Skiiers Choice vs. Malibu vs. Mastercraft vs. Nautique (did I miss any) discussion, but it sure seems like we have some down to earth good ole fashioned folks in this community. Hope everyone had a great time, and I'm bummed we didn't get to hang out more.

From what I hear it was about 1-2 miles down river from the cut. They said they saw nothing there but we rode up and down there all weekend and never had an issue. Bad luck or they just overlooked it. Don't think anyone else damage anything. Brad and Drew somehow managed to take the 21V mudding lol
