Boat damage

Hit what I'm assuming was a submerged log? Never saw anything before and couldn't find anything after. We were in about 30' of water and had been in this general area all day.
Heard a pretty loud thud, stopped immediately but never saw anything in the water. Very bad vibrations afterwards only able to do idle back to boat ramp. So bummed!!!

Oh, no! Todd, that is a bummer. Do you have a good dealer/mechanic or are you going to try and tackle the repairs yourself.

Looks identical to what I did with 8 hrs on the boat minus the fiberglass damage.

That is a sick feeling.

Currently no dealer or mechanic but the search begins on Tuesday. I do not have the tools or room to tackle something like this on my own. I'm thankful we have insurance on the boat as I have no idea what these repairs might cost.

Shaft ~ 250
Prop repair ~ 150

Real time labor is about 4 - 5 hrs

Fiberglass repair looks to be a moderate repair - best guess is 1000 - 1300

Hopefully no damage to the V-drive

That's my best insight but dealers can run high!

Ouch - feels like deja vu brotha... Deep water, big thud and then the wobbles.

Mine looked almost exactly like that 3 summers ago. Feel your pain man.

Repairs were over $5k through the dealer... but at least they turned it around fast. PM me if you want any details on the ordeal.

Bad luck. I clipped a small branch this weekend about 2 1/2 inches thick. Got lucky. No damage no vibration. Was sitting just below the surface so there was no chance to see it. Pop up to surface and then when down again. Jumped in with my mask and snorkel and checked bottom, shaft and prop. Even found branch with surface prop scrape. I know one of these time I will not be so lucky. Hope you repair goes smooth and cheep!

Well took the boat to the shop today. Still waiting on estimate write up etc, but basically all drive and steering pieces on the bottom are damaged. We have insurance which we will be using on this as the rough guess is about 5k. The guys at the shop seem to think that barring any issues with the insurance company we will be back to wakeboarding by next weekend at the latest. So that was pretty good to hear, since I have a friend who's boat has been at their dealer for almost 6 weeks.

Issues with the insurance company are really starting to hack me off. Got a phone call today that the ins. co is not letting the shop move on with repairs until they can get back out to review the boat again. The adjuster disputes that the rudder is bent when my untrained eye can tell that it is.... So frustrating!😡💣🔫

The one with the lady who likes "discounts".
I blasted them pretty good on twitter and fb expressing my displeasure and got some pretty good follow up from their social media department who put me in touch with a local "supervisor".

Now the shop has remaining parts on the way and another local adjuster will be out Monday to settle up with the shop.

Overall we have gotten very good service from them in all other dealings so I will not fire them over this issue. However, if it turns out that I was just being given "lip service" today after speaking with them, that will be losing my business when this is over.

Try a company called Skisafe. I've been with them since my first inboard in the mid 90s. You will probably save some money on your policy since they only deal with inboards (or that is all they used to deal with). Now they have a seperate area for oth type craft.

Unfortunately, since you are going to have a claim, you may have difficulty getting a lower rate or being insured at all by another company. Sorry for your delays.

Apparently there has been lots of people tearing up the bottom of their Moombas. Boat has been out of service for a month this weekend and it doesnt look like it will be getting fixed soon as Moomba has the struts for the LSV on backorder.

Yeah not every part number is back ordered. I guess the have different degrees of angle. Just so happens the one for my boat is one of those.

It really does seem like allot of boats are hitting bottom this year. Seen it several places. Hopefully they will get you taken care of soon!

Well I have a UPS tracking number and it says my parts are out for delivery today. Now I'm just praying that the entire order was shipped. Fingers crossed! That we may be back up and running by weeks end.

Your strut looks exactly what happened to my LSV. Except I hit a 'rockbar' at Lake Ouachita
My parts/damage came out to $6910. New shaft, prop, strut and rudder. Plus gelcoat and fiberglass repair

Picked the boat up today after work. Runs like a champ! Gonna take it back to shop at end of season to have all of the gelcoat work done.

So pumped to be able to get my son back on the water behind our own boat!

Primarily go to Lake Oologah or Skiatook. My boat was damaged at lame Ft. Gibson though.
