This is a non-SC sponsored event, but we will have all the things needed to have a great time: a great lake, lots of bergers & dogs, cold beer and plenty of Skier's Choice boats.

Following are a few details about Lake Sinclair for anyone that wants to join us:

located in Milledgeville, GA - 15,000+ acres of water and 417 miles of shoreline. often cited as "the cleanest lake in GA"

http://www.georgiapower.com/lakes/Sinclair.asp

If you're out looking for us, we live in the Island Creek area of Lake Sinclair. We'll plan to be down by the Sinclair Dam around 10:00 am and go from there. Around 2:00 pm, I'll get my grill fired up and we can get together for some fun & fellowship.

Local hotels on the West side of the lake are close to public ramps and town of Milledgeville, but better for hanging out with all of us are the condos at Lake Sinclair Villages. Older, but mostly remodeled and in good shape with a ramp on site, assigned slip, etc. for same, or less, than a hotel room. Here is an example:

http://www.vrbo.com/313194

There are some rental homes available also.

There are a few islands on the lake that people do primitive camping on. These islands offer some great spots to hang out and enjoy the lake. They are located close to the Sinclair Dam & Baldwin County Airport (for those looking on a map)

Below is a map with some of the key places such as Marinas with gas & ramps, GA Power daily access ramps (I think these require a nominal daily fee), WalMart SuperCenter, a few restaurants, Lake Sinclair Villages and my place.

We will plan to stay in the Isalnd Creek area which is the arm that the Lake Sinclair Villages and my place are on as well as the main body of water to the South, by the dam.

Below is a pic & link (hope it works) to the google map I made that should let you zoom in/out, get directions, etc.

I put it on my calendar and will run it by the wife. I'm about 1/2 hour closer now at the new house, so not sure if it'll be for just one day or another last-minute hotel stay. Lol. I hope we can make it, it was a great time last year. Lots of great people.

As for kids, if we make it we'll have 7, ages 6 months thru 14 years. :)

Ryan,

Didn't I see something about oldest off to an internship in KS?
Yup, he is. He's working his tail off, but loving it. He's very responsible and they are taking advantage of it, turning him loose with big tractors and stuff. I was thinking that is what you were referering to, that I only had 7 instead of 8 coming. Lol. I just wasn't sure...

So I did lose my boat driver, but I started training Cam today. He is doing great!

Let's get the Mojos out there and see what kind of surf bowl we can make!

Salyers
05-31-2012, 05:55 PM
I can't wait to try one of those! All we do anymore is surf. I take a couple passes on the wakeboard each trip out but nothing special. A couple of W2W jumps. Some grabs and 180's with occasional 360. Inverts hurt too much! At 31 you'd think it wouldn't hurt so bad. It didn't at 21!!! I'd say there is an 70% chance I'll be at Sinclair. Looks like a beautiful lake. Reminds me of Wedowee in Central,AL Only thing I miss about Alabama. Would love to get together with some moomba maniacs. There are about 3-9 Moombas out at the Hiwassee river in Charleston,Tn which is my normal boat spot. I haven't seen any of them on this site though.:? Only thing I get from most of them is a wave.

Great news.

We actually got out too. Had to push the boat by hand over the prop wash berm, I did hear the prop scrape against a couple rocks so the rain we got did help but the lake is anywhere from 6-10 feet deep in most spots so the surf wave kinda sucked. We were the first boat on the lake and we had perfect glass for our wakeboard runs. Headed back home at 11 and was swimmin in the pool by 2 after washing the boat up.

We're getting close to this event! For those that want to join, my family and a few others will be at the lake all week starting on July 7th thru the 15th.

The "official" day on the 14th, we'll fire up the grill at my place if you want to join us. Feel free to bring along burgers, dogs, brats, buns, beer and whatever else you want to eat and drink.

This is a fun, family focused event. All are welcome, just keep in mind that there will be lots of kids present, so inappropriate activities, language, etc won't be tolerated. Never had a problem with this, and don't expect to, just letting everyone know up front.

Nothing much so far. Daze & crew rolled in around 5:30 pm. The Wolfe family has been putting in a lot of work (and $$) getting the place ready for the invasion. There is still a bit to do, but I'm ready to start having fun. We had dinner at a local place tonight and introduced the Daze crew to fried catfish & cheese grits. Spent the rest of the night sipping on a few cold ones, sharing pics and just catching up. The girls went back to the condo for a sleepover, so I ordered up the UFC fights.

Great start to the week and we are excited for all our friends to be rolling in!

Did you just see my boy Forrest leave the octagon, then have Dana White chase him down, THEN he takes the mic from Dana and interviews Tito?! BOSS. Me and a buddy used to train with him in Athens. He would go downtown with us EVERY single weekend and never drink a sip. Obviously nobody knew who he was at the time. I mean, he was just a random guy like everyone else. Except that he could wear anyone around him out with a quickness if he felt up to it. Nobody really was into this whole UFC thing back then.

By the way.......What do you have going on this week? I may be sneaking down there for a day. Need help with anything around the house? Shoot me a text tomorrow and we can plan it. You better have some Wise Snacks for me though if you put me to work. :)

Ha! Forrest is a favorite of mine. Can't wait for the Silva fight!

I used to take my life into my own hands and play dodgeball with Forrest when he still lived in The ATL.

We are here all week with plans to surf, eat, drink and maybe get some sleep. Work time is just about over and playtime will be in full effect. Be sure to bring the girls so they can try out some of the small surfboards we have!

In his defense thou he had a broken rib that penetrated his lung or something along those lines. It wasn't ALL totally cause he got his arse handed to him, there was some sort of medical reason behind it also

We had a great time too. Great to see the Daze crew, as always. Great to hang with JMB and wife and do a little surfing together. Very nice to meet the whole E4Nash crew and work on their setup and surfing-- credit Daze with the surf coaching on that one. Also cool to meet some very happy new Mojo owners. Thank you to Waterbulldog for bringing some Fat Tire- that was a big hit and a very fine cigar enjoyed in the cool of the evening.

As for the Big Butt Throwdown we had a clear winner: everybody who tasted any of it. Drew's with the Montgomery Inn sauce was outstanding. Jack's with the Dreamland sauce was good but even better with the Sweet Baby Ray's if you ask me. Drew even sent a care pack home with me-- guess what I'm having for dinner tonight?

Special thanks to Drew and to Lakewakes Wakesurf Boards for letting my daughter try out a board. She loved it and we decided to take it home with us. These boards are outstanding and each one is its own masterpiece.

And special thanks to WISE CHIPS for supplying tons of excellent products throughout the entire week. I think we consumed at least 150 bags of chips this week, likely more. About mid-week the UPS guy showed up with about 7 more cases. Incredible support and every flavor is delicious.

Finally, extreme thanks to the Wolfe family for being amazing hosts and for caring so much about everybody having a good time. They did so much beforehand, during our time there, and after everyone was gone to make an incredibly fun time smooth and absolutely perfect. Thank you for your hospitality and patience. You are the absolute best and we are very proud to call you our friends. We miss you already.

It's not everyday that a group of folks can get along so well after "meeting" on the internet. :) But that is what is great about our hobby. Brings folks together around a common interest.
