Last year, my factory depth finder on my 2005 Moomba Outback would cut out from time to time. The power would shut off for no reason. I could pound on it and sometimes it would come back on. Now this year, it's not working at all. I checked all the connections and they look good. Has anyone had one just entirely crap out and stop working? I'm thinking it just failed and I need to buy a new one? Any ideas on what to check before I replace it? And just confirming...it's a 2" depth finder and does anyone recommend any replacements? Thanks!

Am I stuck only replacing the gauge with the factory style in order to use the existing puck and wiring? Or, can an aftermarket gauge use the existing puck and wiring? Any idea on how much the new gauge costs from the factory?

I had that happen to mine and the dealer said they grounded it wrong and he moved the ground but he did it and I don't know where it was or where he moved it. I do know I have not had another problem with it. He told me that this was a problem back then.

Was born and raised in Spokane Wa. Too cold. Had to move South!

Thanks...I'll try that. Do you mean the gauge was grounded wrong...I don't think the transducer has a ground?

Don't blame you...sometimes it's very cold here! We do most of our boating on Lake Entiat in Wenatchee or Lake Billy Chinook near Madras, OR. We do use Lake Tapps and Lake Cushman on this side. Don't want to leave out Lake Chelan either!

I think it was the ground for the gauge. It kept shutting off and trying to reset itself. We always went to Idaho to lake Couer d'Alene or Pend O'rielly (spelling). Basically had about 3 months of warm water.
