Is the board too short for my big $&@; ?

I weigh about 190

I can get a good deal on a slingshot response 137 but I am afraid it will be too short. I am new to wakeboarding but have no trouble with deep water starts.

IMO, you are to heavy. Will you be able to ride? Yes, however you would benefit from a larger board. I am 165-170 depending on if the morning coffee did its job and I ride a 138 or 139 slingshot recoil. The wife weighs significantly less and rides a 136.

Well... Since we're all being honest, I'm 6'8" and tip the scales at 240#'s. I ride a JSTAR 140. With my old Campion 535 I could clear the wakes, just. If I were to upgrade my board, what should I get?

Get a bigger board, with a bigger board you will be riding on top of the water , allowing your board to edge better. Your landings will be more controlled as the larger board will make landings softer. As you are learning you will be able to control larger board better. I am 6-4 230, ride a 145 at 24 mph and with big air the bigger board makes landings easy, you will have a better time on proper size.

Echo what everyone has said, I'm 140-145 and ride a Slingshot Reflex 137

I am 6'1" and 180-5lbs and I ride a 143 Ronix Mana. I have a 141 and a 137 board but they do ride much lower in the water. Would go with the larger size!

I'm 6' 180-190 and I ride a 139 Ronix Mana. I was riding a 139 hyperlite forefront and I want to go to a 142 but I got a good deal on a left over Mana and all they had was 139 left

At 175 I sink my fiance's 137 board on the landings of jumps at speeds below 22 mph. I also find ollies much more difficult on her board at slower speeds. I would advise a longer board.

I am 5"10 , wiegh 165 and I ride a CWB Marius 141. You will get more pop off the wake from a bigger board too. I have a 137 that I started on. There is a big difference between the boards.

I have let my girls ranging from, ahem, a guesstimate of 120-150lbs ride my old LF 143 with some smaller bindings on it and they like it compared to riding a 132. Said it feels a lot more stable, but maybe a little heavier. They are not getting radical though - more cruisers. I'm 6'3" and 210 and have never touched anything less than the 140's.

Of the many out there, EVO has a simple chart that makes for a good starting point.

I popped on the short board. I could not resist since it was pretty cheap and included some slingshot closed toe bindings in my size. Worse case scenario was taking the bindings off and paying a fraction of the new price for the boots.

I rode it yesterday and I like it better than the low end hyperlite 140 I was riding but it does seem to ride deep in the water. The landings seemed to be much softer and it seems to be fast riding into the wake.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for a 142 or 143. I have a feeling that I would enjoy the bigger board.

In fact, I can't find another 151 wakeboard. Do they still or did they make 151's?

The largest board that I am aware of is the LF Trip 146. I'm am 5'10" and weighing in at 250 and it suits me well.

So I email the guy and ask for the dimensions of the board in inches, he replies that its a 151. After the hour drive I get there and it says right on the face of the board "One Fourty One"! Needless to say I didn't get a new board yesterday.:mad:


Am I really going to notice a difference between a 140 that I own and a 145 or 146??

I ride a 144 ronix vault and obrien demented and decade,. Decade is the better of the three boards. I right it at 5'10 215. My fighting weight is 180. LOL.

Yes you will notice a difference. I ride my wifes 137 sometimes and its deep in the water.

My weight is 160. I've been riding a borrowed board for a couple of years (I think it's somewhere between 140-145cm) and I only do jumps and grabs. This board feels a bit long, but I haven't really tried anything else. I want to buy my own board and maybe learn some spins. Is this easier on a shorter board? Or should i go longer? I'm looking at 135 or 140cm (my options are a bit limited in my country). Mostly riding at about 22mph. Thanks.
