Had it removed from my ankle yesterday. I thought they pre-drilled, but I guess not by looking at the auger on the tip of this bad boy!!! Must've been in pretty good, looking at the messed up hex from removal... Yes, that 50mm is the length. Looks like it would've come out the other side! And yes, they put me out completly. Lol.

Nice, I wish I had the one in my ankle removed when they removed the rod and three screws from my debut. We kept that stuff too!

Daaaammmnnnn.....they had made big strides since 1985 when they took one of three out of my ankle. I made the mistake and watched with a local anesthetic as do took it out with a stainless craftsman.

Why did you have it removed.

Ps I always wanted the two To mes with the metl detector at the airport, but it doesnt.

Glad to see it's not all rusty like the ones my HMO makes 'em use around here.

Hey Ryan why did they take it out? I have screws in one ankle and a rod in the other and I was told that they normally don't take it out. I know that it really can bother me on weather changes ect. and I contemplated having them removed but its been over 5 years and I don't want any issues during removal.

It is now 2 days since surgery, and i feel fine... No pain killers, just some ibuprofin, and I feel no worse than I did the day before surgery, maybe even better.

It was my option to have it removed. They "generally" dont cause problems, but I'd rather have it done now then have to take the chance later. The screw served it's purpose and was now just along for the ride. I would have probalby left it, but the head stuck out of the bone far enough taht I could feel it throiugh my skin. There isnt' a lot of meat on your ankle. Lol. If I sat with my legs crossed, or bumped it on something, it was sore or painful, so i went ahead and had it removed.

I still can't believe how long it is myself. Seems like it would've been poking out BOTH sides! Lol.

Oh, I was put out for removal, completely out. Only took like 10-15 minutes, so recovery was quick and easy. I wouldn't want to be awake for this!

Exactly why i had one of mine removed , it pinched the skin inside my ski boots....

Glad your recovery was short.
