All i have to contribute to May thread so fare is a teaser.

I will do a full write up and pics when done but JPetty has been on my like a fool LOL.

People who know me know i have no problem punching holes in my boat. 2 1inch holes in the bottom. This goes with the other 2inch hole i put in the bottom 2 years ago, and 4th threw hull in the side, but none has toped the hole in the nose i put my fist threw for my flip over bow light.

I thought it turned out really good. Guy who did them quoted me $125 so I was like HECK YEAH! The lowest quote I had before him was around $225. He told me after he finished, he remembered why he didn't do many boats anymore. Took him twice as long as he anticipated. Ended up giving him $150 for his efforts.

Nope he didn't it. After it was all done he said he wished he had. Apparently getting the tint hot enough to shrink and then do it properly was the tough part. And the drivers side dash makes it even tougher.

Spent the end of last summer getting everything mechanically running and the winter getting everything updated. New carpet, sound, 2nd battery system with switch and ACR, a custom console, new vinyl everywhere. Hitting the lake this weekend and really ready to kick back. Did lots of forum stocking this winter and you guys have great information and know how, could not have done all this without this group. Will post better pics (on the water).

Well, everything on that switch panel runs off the house battery. Depth finder, radio, aux power plug, and have the radio remote wired in so I have a way to make sure the amp is on or off when I want it to be. Figure future expanison might include LED lights off the swim deck and some LED's inside the boat. How else do you operate torpedoes or tomahawk missles? At least this is what my 7 year old has been telling me in the garage all winter, he has been using the panel more than me. By the way you did not know that there is a missile battery under the clamshell, push one button and it opens the next button fires.

Poisonous snakes I murder. Other snakes I leave alone. We have found 2 King snakes and a HUGE rat snake this year and let them go. I do not really live in the middle of nowhere, but I do live on 3 acres and those suckers keeps the rats away. It has been a while since i have seen anything poisonous, but if I did heads are gonna roll.

So we got the boat ready to drop her in for a shakedown run and when I was getting my seats from the attic of the garage I noticed a mouse nibbled on the corner and the beading. Motherf&$$@)&!!!! Man was I hot! But luckily it was only one seat.

We got the boat to the river and launched. Weather was "supposed" to be partly cloudy and high of 72, instead it was cloudy all day and didn't get a above 61. Didn't get to ride but we ran up and down the river and then rafted up with a good friend and his Super Air. Smoked a couple cigars and just chilled, so happy to be back on the boat.

Everything checked out, ran fine, and my little girl had a good time.

LOL, KG asked the same question about my mirror. Am I the only one that drives the boat from the starboard side? You guys are seeing the port side in the mirror!

And yup, it was speeding. I am a habitual speeder, and this time it was innocent. Took a a different route to the water to hit a "twice the ice" spot on the way. The timing of this was nuts. I had just looked at Ash and said "You know, I'm not certain what the speed limit is on this road, I'm doing 66." We topped the hill we were at the bottom of and boom..there was was just past the crest. Turns out, we were in the one spot that it dropped to 55, I guess I just missed the sign. Honest goof on my part. That's how it goes I guess.

Tru Dat... speed limit is merely a suggestion LOL. Except thru Emerson on I-75 or Hwy 41, watch yourself thru there, speed trap big time. Town has like 50 residents and 25 cop cars... they just got off probation where they couldn't patrol and ticket on the interstate and boy howdy they are making up for lost time...

I wasn't really shocked he wrote me one, I never get warnings, ha. He played the part, he complimented the truck, asked where we were headed..told him we were off for our first trip of the year without the little one and had a babysitter all day. He thought that was great, wished us a great day. We had some other back and forth and by the time he walked back to his car I had a glimmer of hope that it was a warning. Nope, I told Ash that if he isn't back in 60 seconds he is ticketing. Sure enough. He came back and before he gave me the ticket he questioned my window tint. I have an exemption from the state as well as the letter from the doc, which he informed me he had never heard of and he learned something new.

That must be a Texas cop thing. I had the same thing happen way back when i had my 79 Trans Am. I went to San Antonio to visit my mom, on the way home in a deselate little place i was doing 7mph over the limit. I tried to never speed in that car, always got pulled over in it. Going downhill, a mounty was comming the other direction, cut accross the meadian and pulled me over.

Same song and dance, nice car, whats under the hood, wanted to see it, looked all over it. Seemed like a real nice guy. I told him i was visiting my mom in SA and showed him pics we took on the River Walk. He seemed real cool. Then wrote me a 200 ticket and said i could come to court and argue it. Uhh yea 10hr drive from Tucson LOL.

I got pulled over 3hr later for a burned out license plate light, showed him my speeding ticket and he laughed saying that cop musta been bored. But he let me go with a warning. Then 4ish hours later in AZ i got pulled over again, soposibly a gas station had a gas run from a late 70s muscle car. Gawd 3xs in one day. That was the last time my TA we East Bound and Down

When you contact the court ask for "deferred probation".

If they will let you, you pay a court fee (usually cheaper than ticket) and get put on 3-month probation. No tickets in that probation time and it just goes away. Not on your driving record, no notification to insurance company etc, just goes bye-bye. Its not an option the courts openly offer but ifmyour record is somewhat clean andmyou ask they'll do it This is a little known secret that I will share with ya brother. And it will only cost ya some moomba swag ya just won:cool:

Not really a TX cop thing but more of a State Trooper thing. They will write for 5 mph over and not lose any sleep over it. Their policy is they have to turn in "paper" for every stop they make during shift as documentation A warning is written on the same paper that a citation is wrote on, only difference is they just check a different box. They figure if they have to get out of the car, write on a paper, etc etc they might as well check the citation box instead of the warning box. Rarely do the troopers give warnings. Troopers in my area have been known to write there Momma's and other cops if they light em up

If I ever get written for 5 over I'm going to demand trial by jury and discovery. I want to know the officer's training on the use of the equipment and the maintenance history of it as well as the last time it was calibrated. I'm sure I'd be getting a dismissal.

Troopers in Idaho would give ya 5. Some 10 but anything over 5 is fair game to them just depends on their mood. If they have to chase you down, no doubt a ticket LOL. Got tagged with rader there years ago between Pocatello and Blackfoot, from a trooper going the other way, there wasn't any exits nearby and no place to get through the lava rock median so I dropped the hammer. About 15 minutes later I see him catching me fast (one of the then new mustangs) I was dang near the exit I was going to take to evade him... got pulled out at gun point, said there wasa bulletin out for a car like mine, and was told he'd clocked me at 75 (55 limit back then) and obviously I hadn't slowed down. I kept it to myself that I had in fact accelerated ;-) Good times, bad ticket. He had no sense of humor...

Petty - any idea if this "deferred probation" is a TX only thing or pretty universal?

I'm a habitual lead foot but have been untouched for a long time. My luck is going to run out one day though.

jpetty3023

@Berg, I'd think it would be universal but not positive. Do y'all have the option to take defensive driving for ticket dismissal's? If so then this is the "unknown" step to take before you take defensive driving for dismissal.

I got lit up by a state trooper in Stephenville, TX once on my way back to Melody Mountain Ranch after making a quick run into town during the Larry Joe Taylor Fest. He got me for no front license plate but I did not get a ticket. My guess is they were looking for drunks due to the festival.

True but you're not that much shorter. I don't have the swing away tongue either - that would help. Looks like your weather is very similar to my area too. That's motivation as I haven't even started in on my 2012 projects and fixes yet.

We have the swing away tongue and we are able to put the boat straight in, it would definitely have to go in at an angle if we didn't have the tongue though.

Haven't got it back yet, hoping to get an update on it next weekend. We did buy a lift last weekend so we are almost set for the season. I just can't wait to go there and just have everything there and working so I can just enjoy. It really hasn't been too bad since I can go here in Wausau 3x a week, but I did miss out on a couple of weekend days of riding. Lake temp here was a whopping 64 today! If we don't have it for memorial day I am going to be very disappointed.

I've decided that those kneeboard/surfboard racks mounted up high on the tower are starting to look sort of like bull horns. They'll probably be listed in the classified section soon as the kneeboards are going to be garage sale fodder.

I'm sure you could. They fit a kneeboard great - had a little extra room with my ocean surfboard so I took a pool noodle and cut it down to use as padding. If I recall the jaw openings for the kneeboard are 4.5" so most likely could stack a couple surfs in there bottom-to-bottom and be snug.

I'll have to measure the clamps again and report back though - not sure they'll fit your fatty tower.

Yo...folks that pull your boat up to the beach (Jason's pic) Are not worried about F'n up the fins, prop and rudder!?

I don't beach very often but that pic was during a weekend camping trip and the area where bow was sitting was soft mud type ground. The back of boat was in about 6 foot of water. I tied off the front and rear so waves coming in from middle of lake wasn't rocking the boat.

I left boat in about 12 foot of water this weekend anchored and no where near the shore because it was rocky. Folks just had to swim to boat or walk over to dock and i got them from there. I took some sweet pics from above but like a dummy I didn't have a storage card in camera and can't pull them now. Don't guess they saved. Prolly some of the best pics of boat I took and they are no where to be found!!

I think it was actually. He hit on a girl that worked at my gym for years that same night. Apparently called her a not so nice name when she only wanted a picture. Her story is in a lot of the online articles about the incident.

Not a fan of Big Ben. It's a shame he plays for one of my favorite NFL teams.

pulled my guide posts off to wax the boat and then it started to rain so i backed it into the garage without putting them back on-next weekend we took off for a weeklong vacation and running short on time I did'nt bother to put them back on. I didnt really have any issues without them for the 2 months it took for me to get them back on, but I had no wind or current to deal with and a easy ramp to use

From Texas Parks and Wildlife

Every motorboat towing a person must have an observer, other than the operator, 13 years of age or older OR be equipped with a rearview mirror of a size no less than four inches (4") in measurement from bottom to top and across from one side to the other.

Sorry I missed this. Haven't been on alot lately. We are going to be up north of the cities in the Brainerd area but not until the 29th and into August. It uses gps. You have to be a little careful however since all the depths are based on the reservoir being at full pool. It doesn't take into account droughts.

I actually used it to record the route we took from our house to the restaurant, it tells you your speed in knots or mph, avg speed, distance traveled, and time. You can then go and name the track ad use it for navigating in the future

14509
This is the track I saved to get to the restaurant, the yellow line is the route we took and if I were to zoom in you would see that we stayed in the river channel which is why we zig zagged everywhere

I thought you ordered some balls from Brian?

LMBO! Yeah yeah. For what it's worth I had Brian's balls in my hands for a month or so before all of you found out how fantastic they were.

Why don't you run your happy self down to the boat and snap some lake pictures for me since I am sitting in my office doing my best to be productive. I am one of maybe 3 folks in my office today. Our floor only has the Enterprise sales teams on it so it gets pretty silent here on Fridays. Today is even worse. Everyone is out enjoying a long holiday weekend except for me. I swear I am not bitter.

Big boating plans this weekend though, I'll be sure to take some pics.

I just got back to work this morning. Got two weeks to put in before I can go home or even see dry land. No more may boating pictures for me.
