View Full Version : Dallas hamburger joint and the problem that follows.......

Was in Dallas this weekend for a huge volleyball tournament. My daughter and her team went to a place called Twisted Root.

Great Burgers by the way.

My daughter bought a shirt. She wore it to school today. Just got a call from the school expressing their displeasure with the shirt. I never saw the shirt, just my daughter went to the bar and grabbed one and told me she bought a shirt.

This is what the shirt said according to the school and my daughter has confirmed:

Twisted Root Burger Company
Sofa King Good!

1. That place is delicious.
2. LMAO, I dread those coming days with my little one..lol
3. What now?

They just made her change it. Think she is wearing one of her practice shirts right now. The worst part was getting scolded by the school about it for 10 minutes. Deja vu all over again when I was sent to the principals office.

Is this the offending article of clothing?

no mention of the school attended(grade/jr/high). I can see that at a grade school level, but high school? I hear kids saying a whole lot worse. heck, watch one episode of anything on mtv lately and that's not even cracking what kids are exposed to in today's world..

fwiw, I find that shirt quite funny...

I'm cracking up... sofa king good!!! Not funny about the kid... but the shirt is a riot!

Awesome shirt! I got in trouble in HS for wearing a shirt that said "Party like it's $19.99" and it had a picture of a keg...Tried to pass it off as a root beer keg with no luck.

Too funny. Anyone recall the old "Big Johnson" t-shirts? I used to have a few of those when I was a teen. My mother refused to wash them and then they disappeared miraculously one day. Don't recall getting in trouble at school with them though.

She is a freshman in High School, and not a small or private one. One of the largest High Schools in the City. It was hard to not giggle as I was getting scolded.

Who exactly was scolding you? I can tell you right now I am a very level headed person, but I would be "bothered" by some school administrator calling to "scold" me.

Berg: I do remember the Big Johnson shirts! Hilarious! I was never allowed to have them, but really wanted one. I did come home from Panama City with my friend and his family when I was 15 with an interesting shirt. It said "ButtWeiser" in the Budweiser logo and had a picture of three young ladies in small bikinis laying on a towel face down. I ended up having that in my house for about 2 hours until it was found and promptly thrown in the trash. Dad wasn't pleased with me.

And you thought getting scolded by the principal was over when you finished high School. Now you get scolded for somthing you did not even do. I guess a plus side is you can get some more yard work done as "Punishment" for the school calling you.

It was a school asistant principal. I actually got the feeling he was uncomfortable calling me. However they seemed to be more concerned by a kid telling their parent about it and the parent then calling the school about it.

No big deal, I asked my daughter if she knew what she was buying and she sheepishly said yes, didn't think anyone would notice!

I really don't see the issue with it as there were a lot worse when I went to school, but in this society today where everyone is offended by everything and a lawyer waiting around the corner to sue anybody for anything, I can understand where the school is coming from... seems all everyone wants to do anymore is cover their arse..

doesn't make it right, but kudos to her for trying. it's funny :)

Must have been a own day for the school admin's. Dont see nothing wrong with it IMO. No Harm No Foul!!!

Will the shirt fit you? If so, add it to your arsenal!

I don't get what's so bad about that shirt

04-16-2012, 07:33 PM

That is the shirt except hers is brown! Won't fit me she but wouldn't give it to me anyway. Just won't wear it to school anymore.

That's great! The schools really need to pick and choose their battles. It's sh*t like this that really irritates me about our current society. She should rock it to parent teacher conferences and see if anything is said.

That asst. principle is sofa king lame

Funny now, but I had to Google it, and finally got it. So if I was at the patent teacher conference, it would have passed over my head. Lol
Slow on the uptake...

Ha, I didn't get it either until my wife explained it.

Showed it to her and said I don't get the problem ... She busted up laughing.

At dance class ... "say it together a couple times" .. "ok not so loud, shutup"

That would be tough to punish.

I remember those...they were eventually outlawed at our school...
