Motor jerks 2007 Outback

after aprox 3500 rpm the boat starts jerking and wont accelerate under 3500 rpm it is fine and the kids can still wakeboard.Have had a problem with the fuel pump getting hot if the boat stands for a while after using it but once cooled off with water the motor starts.Is this is a related problem

Inconsistent fuel supply (or spark for that matter) can make your engine seem like it's jerking. The cause could be anything from bad fuel pump to contaminated fuel. Time to start troubleshooting.

Two things I did when my boat did this:

1) Are you sure it's the pumps and not just the fuel filter?
2) Check your oil level. Sounds stupid but my boat would pull hard out of the hole and when I was about 3/4 of the way out of the water it would hesitate and jerk.

I changed the filter in the back of the boat and added 1/2 liter of oil and it has never happened again.

when i used to have my 07 supra ssv 22 i had the same issue. turns out it was the fuel filter. ran great after i installed a new one.
