The boat bug has biten us again...I knew it wouldn't be long after we sold our '05 at the end of the summer. We found a practically brand new '11 LSV with only like 23 hours, Gravity III, Wetsounds, fully loaded, and full Warranty and it's the exact color combo that I have basically drooled over everytime I've seen it! Just waiting to hear final details from the bank in the morning and it's as good as ours! REALLY hope someone doesn't swoop in underneath us...took a lot of work to get the wife to jump on board. She wanted to wait until next year but I somehow managed to convince her that we couldn't pass this one up. It's basically EXACTLY what I would've ordered if I was going to order one! things like that don't just "happen"... ;-)

Here's a pic:

I know I will upgrade the locker bags ASAP but any other mod talking I will hold off until it is safely hooked up to my truck and on the way back to God's Country which is of course North Georgia!

Good to know! How much reinforcing did you have to do for those?

Also has anyone dealt with Skiers Marine in Alabama? So far they seem to be really nice. Just wondering what other people's experiences might have been.

BTW since I am coming from an 2005 LS hull to the 2011 LSV Hull what differences are there between these two models besides the obvious DDrive vs VDrive? What improvements or features will be on the '2011 that weren't on the '05 (Stereo, pumps, cruise, etc.)?

kaneboats
04-12-2012, 02:46 PM
The 2006 and up LSV hull is one of the best ever made by anyone. It's really a family wakeboat first. But, it has a credible ski wake and an excellent surf wake for its size. You should have more ballast and more room than ever before. It is hard to let one of these go once you own it. I'll probably keep my 2008 for at least 10 years. They are a fantastic bargain for what you get.

stereo moved to Sony head unit, I believe. Improved Kicker amp(s) and speakers. Ballast pumps are now the reversible ones vs aerator.

Well when you get the boat, I can show you around the lake. It's a lake with a ton to do, but you either need to get out early or stay late for good water sports on the south end. VERY busy and the water is rough. Good news is I can show you a few places where we go to get some good sets in.

There is a nice little place behind a small island on the south end that a lot of serious boarders go. They are very friendly there and you literally just get in line for your set and then let the next person go while you get back in line.

Of course I will have to show you sunset cove. :)

Yeah, Boater's Insurance gave me that higher quote, but with their program on new, 2012 boats, they will extend the warranty on the motor for 2 yrs, for a total of 5. Need to price out the variance once I get a 2nd or 3rd quote. Wondering if I will even have this boat past 3 yrs.?

Well, right now it's going to be in my buddy's garage unless I find some other place. My garage is about 7 feet too short and the door isn't wide enough either. Would love to store it closer to the water though. Lanier will be our home lake. I live off E.Cherokee and GA20 and we put in across 400 off of 369. I have about a 30 minute drive to the ramp from my door. Where is the storage place you are talking about? If I was going to store it I would want the place to be near where we put in. When I have to go in town to work (2 days a week) it would be nice to be able to come up 400 and meet the fam at the storage and load up and go so over near where we currently put in would be ideal. I drove down to the ramp tonight and walked the shore for a while. On the way back I saw a couple places that might work but I will have to inspect them a little closer. Absoutley will not store out in the elements with nothing but the cover...it must be a covered space and have electricity like you said...water is a plus too. Wish I could get a slip but they are just too much. If I can ever sell my house in TN maybe we can move closer to or on the lake but for right now we are where we are.

WaterBullDawg1980
04-12-2012, 11:09 PM
Yeah, mine is going to be too far South. I forgot you are coming from Canton so you can just scoot right over to the North end of the lake. Which is by far the best part of the lake for water sports. My place is right off Friendship Road off 985. I live off hwy20 but in Grayson, so I just take 20 all the way to 985 and Friendship road is the first exit. Anyhow, we get the boat and drag it half a mile to Big Creek and put it in right there.

I had considered Lazy Days this year, but the extra money to have it cleaned, gassed up and put in for me just wasn't worth it. It would be nice though. They dry stack it, but you just call them 30 minutes before you come and they can even have snacks in it for you.

Nope definitely not....I'm not totally sold on him right now. I've been a Skins fan for over 30 years and lately have gotten quite accustomed to high hopes and expectations and then the brutal let downs. Hopefully things will turn around it can pretty tough to be a 'Skins fan. The one bright spot is that no matter how bad we are we usually are able to beat the Cowgirls at least once during the season. We could go 2-14 and I'd be ok with that as long as the 2 wins were over Dallas!

E4NASH
04-18-2012, 08:16 AM
Ok, so went and picked up the boat yesterday. My wife had to work last night so I had to take all of the kids with me. Ran into quite a bit of rain on the way there. I got to the dealer and the boat was pulled under covered storage so we could check it out. First impression of the boat is it's BEAUTIFUL! Seems so much bigger than our previous LS. The large sunpad does seem to take up a lot of room that could be used as interior space but that is my only potentially negative thought. The sunpad will be used a lot by kiddos and wife.

Kids were all over the place because they were so excited. Tried to get them to sit still but that wasn't happening so the pick up was a little rushed. I didn't get to really inspect the boat they way I would've if I had been on my own. In my brief inspection I did find that the grab rail in the bow was a little loose. I probably should've said something then but again, I was trying to listen to my salesman and coral my kids so I didn't. More on that in a minute....

Signed a couple of documents and away we went. Ran into some more rain and then we had to make a pitstop for a bathroom break when we got back inside Georgia lines and I noticed that grab handle was swinging off to the side! turns out the bolt/screw that holds the handle in place had fallen out. Of course the spot that it goes in only the hands of an elf or some other tiny creature will fit in there! So i had to ghetto engineer a temporary fix by spending $5 for same tape at the truck stop to hold it down and keep it from swinging everywhere on the way home. I'm REALLY aggravated about this. One, because i didn't say something when I was there and two, because this is basically a brand new boat and this shouldn't have happened in the first place.

I wm the second owner of this boat and the warranty is transferrable so I need to see about a warranty claim if I can't fix it myself. I assume to get underneath there I will need to take out the speaker and then take off the panel cushion. I REALLY hope it's not stripped out.

Got the boat home and backed it in the driveway did a MUCH more thorough walk around and noticed the driver side corner of with swim platform had rubbed against something at some point. I don't think it happened on the way home because I didn't pull it close to anything so it must've been there beforehand. It would've been nice to notice that at the dealer to put my mind at ease. And I also found a couple spots in the gel along the side that looks like some rocks got kicked up and put some nicks in it.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to what I can use to cover up the spot on the swim platform where it had rubbed against something? Some kind of paint? It's scratched up pretty good right there on the curved corner. Also, is there any "touchup paint" or something that I can use on those rock chips?

I'm really happy and excited about the boat but finding these few issues ESPECIALLY the grab rail incident really dampens it down quite a bit... :-\

*edit* On a more positive note it does have an upgraded Acme prop. Not sure which one though. Whenever it stops raining I might be able to check.

Those are MINOR issues and shouldn't dampen your excitement one bit. You got an awesome boat at a great price. You or your kids will do some damage soon enough on your own. I love getting a new boat, but hate the over-reaction from myself & my wife when anyone even sends a fart towards the boat.

Somebody once said that each scratch, scuff, tear, wrinkle, whatever has a story behind it and you should cherish those blemishes and the associated story as they probably happened with family or friends and that's what owning a boat is all about!

I'll try and get over to see it tomorrow or Friday and try to help out. Can't wait to see it!

PS - I may steal your truck!

Great quote right there! Hard for me to remember at times but good words of wisdom.

Edit: Of course I say that after spending untold hours last fall wet sanding, polishing buffing waxing and otherwise removing some of those scratches and scuffs, swearing mightily as I repaired a small cut in the vinyl, and grumbling about the coffee stained carpet ;-) But it is all good, all good.

Well said wolfey...Nash, I know your disappointment as I experienced some similar issues when I took delivery of my boat but they are minor issues covered by dealership or an easy fix by you and wolfey so smile, relax, and enjoy day 1 with your new girl

Yeah I called the dealership about the grab handle and they apologized for missing it. they owned up and said they should've caught it during inspection and everything. they offered for me to bring it in and they would fix it but thats about 180 miles away so I won't be doing that. He told me how to fix it though and said it should be easy. Remove the speaker to get access to put the screw post back in. So i will get to work on that on thursday or Friday when I'm off and the kids are in school.

The mark on the swim platform actually doesn't look as bad when it's wet and some parts of it (white) were coming off so I think after some elbow grease it will be nothing but a story defelcting toward the previous owner.

Not too worried about the rock chips now either. With the boat wet you can hardly see them. thats what matters anyway right?? Rock chips are bound to happen so as they say..."No Worries". If I can find something to touch them up I will if not hey it's a mark that will tell a story. I'm sure by the end of the summer I will have another one of those. Just hope it has a more interesting story than this mystery.

With that said I am so stoked about this and can't wait to get on the water. It's raining it's butt off here today but I think we may take it out tomorrow after work! Next weekend looks to be MUCH better!

I know I sounded like a whiney a$$ earlier...Wolfey smacked me back to reality...thanks guy!

Party On!

Try some magic eraser on the swim platform. It will work wonders. Can't get the white paint off the rub rails from the guide pole covers with anything but the magic eraser

Thanks KG! It has the factory kicker sub and 5 channel amp. Previous owner installed Pro 60s. Radio doesn't work with my iPhone/Pod so I'll be yanking that out ASAP. Already ordered the replacement. Cranked the system tonight and have decided it needs an overhaul. The pro 60s aren't very loud it doesn't seem and the cabins and subs are...well, meh. Have to do some tuning and maybe swap out some equipment.
