Can't quite convince the wife to up the boat budget to replace our 04 möbius lsv with a new möbius lsv...especially when it is only used 2-3 months a year, but the 2012 outback V would fit the boat budget.

Is the outback v basically the same hull and size as our 04 möbius lsv? Will I be disappointed going to an outback v?

What do you guys think??

There is an outside chance I could convince her we need the new möbius lsv...but that will take a lot of work :)

Not at all. Your hull became the 2006 thru 2008 Outback V hull. In 2009, it was completely redesigned. Overall it's shorter with most of that coming from the bow however, it appears to be a deeper hull towards the bow. The goal was to provide a boat that could perform very well at all watersports from the factory and the New Generation (NG) Outback V does just that.

Thanks for the replies...so it's a mini 2012 LSV?

To clarify, it is going to be smaller than my 04 LSV?

It will have more freeboard, but shorter by about 8 " all in the bow area.

I don't know how your dealer works their pricing, but at the Atlanta boat show there was only about $5k difference in the two boats. If you don't have size restrictions on your lake or for storing the boat, talk her into the LSV. Otherwise, I'm not sure you will benefit a whole lot in the upgrade.

Also, 2 or 3 months? Cmon, up here in Wausau (where temps are a few degrees cooler) our season has already begun! There is at least 6 months of season left! :)

There are definately advantages. Biggest ones I can think of are 330 hp EFI motor, drive by wire throttle, reversible pump ballast system and that new boat smell.

But, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I know that's a hypocritical statement from me . . .

New deeper and heavier hull, killer wake, speed based Moomba Cruise, wicked cool styling, center bilge drain... etc

And yeah Drew, the adage is old and tired even before hearing it from a hypocrite LOL ;-)

My 2007 Bayliner wasn't broke, but my 2010 Moomba kicks it's butt (except for top end speed).

Edit: Let me also add I have no regrets even though for the price I could have bought two more Bayliners and had a small fleet... No Regrets, No Worries, It's the Moomba Life for Me. At least until I can afford a Supra ;-)

6 months is Wausau?! You must be hardcore!

Thanks everyone for the input, I think i will go check one out in person.

And yes, basically the extra $5000 puts it out of the budget the wife will agree too....I already used one toy purchase this month when I convinced her I needed a new motocross bike..lol

Our season has started, but he hasn't been out yet :)

First day was last Sunday, high 40s water, mid 60s air. Was a great start to the season. Putting in our boat in a week.
