Finally broke the seal on the new year. Finally listened to the 4 Exile speakers somewhere other than the garage. Sounded incredible. I can play them louder than I can stand it and have to turn it down. Finally tested out the new ballast setup. I now have a new thru hull with two pumps both going directly to the surf bag. I even installed a vent line in the top of the surf bag. And, it fills in about 4 min. I'm very happy with the efforts.

Had a beautiful day with 88 degrees and 71 degree water. Forgot all the ropes but went into the marina and landed an 8 section ski rope for $27.50 so we used it for everything all day. Good enough for first day out anyway.

Some great shots Kane.
We tried to get out twice this weekend but the boat did not want to cooperate. Saturday never made it off the dock. Then today we tried to go surfing but our boat decided it still wasn't ready. I had a fuel pressure tester with me today and I believe I found my gremlin from last year. The fuel pump is taking a dump with only 150 hrs. on it. Just hope I can find a fuel pump before next weekend.

This weekend would have been awesome to make it out but we had to go to Dallas Friday night to help my sister load a moving truck so she can move to Tyler. We did however get a huge beer and our first batch of crawfish of the season at Razoos in Lewisville.

Didn't quite make it into the March thread, but here is my first day out. Unfortunately, not on our Moomba (have to wait two weeks for that)

Still getting better at surfing, but I absolutely love our Hyperlite Broadcast, very happy with that purchase!

Thanks all! Yes, I am getting extremely soft but have also been busy with car and truck issues that set me back a couple of weeks. Had no takers with the boys and got a late start with the ropes issue so one kneeboarded and the other one thought the water was cold?????????????????

We tried to get out this weekend. Weather was beautiful all morning while I was getting the boat out and ready, but by the time we made it to the lake the wind had picked up and there were white caps. Plus none of the landings had their docks in since its still super early for boating here in Minnesota, so that would have made unloading more work than it was worth... so I guess Ill have to wait a while longer.

There sure is, that's how I got the pictures from my front yard test. It will do every .5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 30, or 60 sec. I think it may do 2 min too?

Nice pics guys, congratz to those with new boats, and new trucks. All are looking sharp.

I was at the lake last week April 1st, not with the boat but with another fun ride. Lake was lower then normal, 5 ft below full even though we had 3inch of rain. I assume they drained it to keep it from over filling.

Put the Moomba on the water today. Replaced a bilge pump switch, put seat back in and hooked up batteries. 303 the interior and off we went.
Went to a small local lake just to run her.
Stopped to get Gas and this truck pulled up slow checking out the Boat. Turns out it was his old boat. Talked to him for 30 minutes.
Funny thing he lives on opposite side of town and was heading out of town when he stopped to fuel up. He bought an 08 Supra worlds Edition. Keeps it at Tablerock in Missouri.

He said he had not seen the boat after new interior was put in because it went from upoulstry shop to the dealer when he traded it.

Hagg is a nice spot. I see that it could get crowded quickly on weekends. I'll have to take a few weekdays off this summer to visit the lake to beat the traffic.

We floated around off 10th street today but I was too afraid to get up to speed with the debris floating downstream.

That is a pretty big group. Is there a preferred wake among yall between the Moomba, Axis, and 210? Didn't you say one of the Axis boats picked up Rev10's? How did they sound?

A couple more pics from the camping trip. David thankfully took a ton as I didn't take many. It was a great time out there.

I rode the A20, my LSV, and David's LSV and preferred the Axis but it wasn't a fair comparison as it had 3000 lbs and 10 people on it while the pulls on the LSVs had between 400 and 1200 pounds and 5-6 people. It also took 5 people sitting on the nose to get the Axis to plane. The rider is much more important than the wake as one of our friends through a huge raley, a scarecrow, and several other big tricks with only 400 lbs in my LSV.

One of the bolts on the right swim platform bracket broke off. Since my girl and I are both goofy and surf the right side we want to get it fixed so we can surf again, although I am pretty sure surfing it what broke it to begin with. I think we are also missing the rear strut bushing. I meant to call nettles today and order a new prop but got busy cleaning the boat from the weekend. We may be headed out Sunday with some guys, not sure where yet.

Those go pro shots are great. Did you do a write up on "how to" on the rope. Also if you fall at speed, does the camera break looks and float, or just stay on the rope? Nice weekend btw. We were scratched due to weather. 35 mph winds....

The camera never came off however you did have to re adjust the angle after a fall. The water would make it look at your feet. I'll do a write up tomorrow when I can take some pictures

Well we have the registration numbers on our old boat above the rub rail on both sides of the bow, but now that you

Hydrohoist. Big bags that get filled with air from a compressor that is mounted to the dock. The boat to the left of the driver's head is on one too. You can see the blue bags underneath. My guess is the one on the right is too tall for the bags to be visible out of the water.

I've never seen a boat backed in. I guess they submerse pretty deep to clear the prop. All the ones around here mount to the front of dock (at the bow) and lower at an angle so it's basically like you are pulling up on a trailer at the ramp. Then you fill aluminum tangs with air like you mentioned. I'm familar with the concept, just don't guess i've ever seen one backed in.

I ran over my Ronix rope! extent of the damage = my pimp ronix rope is in 5 pieces!!!

I have had one of the bolts on the swim platform broke off since late last summer and i just have neglected getting it fixed and just avoided surfing. I decided it was time to bite the bullet and take her in to get repaired so we can surf again. I was also missing the rear strut bushing for pretty much all of last year I think so that is getting repaired/replaced. My prop was apparently bent too and the dealer quoted me 250 to repair it but I have a new 1847 sitting on my fireplace so I am going to throw that on and take the prop to get repaired myself, should save about 100 bucks or so taking it in myself. nothing major

That's a bummer but at least it's nothing too serious. I had a prop repaired and it only cost $95. I remember him saying about the max it would cost for having a prop repaired by him would be 150. Anything after that and it wasn't worth repairing so the dealer is making a nice little profit unless their prop guy is more expensive.

oh im sure the dealer is making a profit, some sort of convience fee for them dropping it off ect. there are no dings on it from an impact so im curious as to how it got bent

bzubke1
04-16-2012, 01:10 PM
Maybe from the previous owner? When we first got our LSV my dad nicked the prop on a gravel bottom at the boat launch and there were no vibrations or anything when we ran it that day, but we did take it in and have the prop repaired so maybe it had a little bend to it this whole time.

bergermaister
04-16-2012, 02:00 PM
We're kinda lucky out in our neck of the woods with AWS. My old prop was dinged up in a few spots and when they dewinterized a couple years ago they just traded me for the same prop they had on the shelf that had already been repaired. Slapped it on and was out the door for $167 I think. If the average or max repair is $150 and a few days to a week of waiting I don't mind a little convenience fee for a quick turnaround!

Rinkers did fix it, he said that the top 3 bolts where actually thru bolted and you can access them through the engine compartment or the rear lockers. The bottom two bolts are just lag bolts that are drilled straight into the fiber glass.

Yea, I figured the video quality would be tough determine anything. It looked real clean and seemed to maintain consistency really well.

They did talk the wake up pretty big on how much they enjoyed riding behind it. I believe they said Clay landed his first 9 behind it? and they were riding the 242 all last year. It appeared to be a strong wake.

A little bit since I got up early to put a fresh coat of wax on it before we took it out but murky water is better than no water like we had last summer. I got to ride yesterday afternoon but not the first day. The wake with just stock ballast was pretty impressive. I can't wait to see what it's like with some more weight. I'm pretty excited about how clean the wake is. I rode at 70ft with the wakeplate all the wake up at 23.5.

Justin and Clay at Diamond Lakes WaterSports were made aware of this thread and the discussions of their opinion on the Mojo. They wanted me to post this on their behalf:

We have a 2012 Moomba Mojo for our demo boat. We have the Indmar 330 hp engine in ours and we already have 30 hours on it. We have played with the wake numerous times and believe that we have it dialed right now. We swapped out the 400 lb rear sacks and put 1180 lb sacks on each side. We had to do some minor modifications to get the bags to fit correctly. We fill the rear bags to 100% and fill the front 100% as well. We also added two 300 lb bags to the nose and walkway of the boat to compensate for the weight in the back of the boat.Wakeplate is set just under half way (this is by prefrerence for our ideal wake shape) Now comes the awesome part.... We are riding 80ft at 24.7 mph and the wake is amazing!! Hands down the best wake ever. The wake is huge.... Not just huge, but shaped with a very user friendly transition. I cannot say enough good things about this setup that Skiers Choice has built! We are running an Acme 1235 prop that increases our hole shot time. The 330 hp engine is blowing our mind on performance and gas mileage. We are loading the boat down rather heavily and the gas gauge rarely moves. The wakesurf wake is just as good!! We fill the rear bag 100% on which ever side we are surfing and leave the front bags 100% full as well. We absolutely love this boat and are excited for the rest of the wake community to experience it for themselves as well!!

Let a gentleman with a Cobalt go in front of me at the ramp this weekend. He launches the boat off the trailer without ever giving the key a turn. Boat floats out away from the trailer and batteries are dead. I get mine launched to go jump him and I get the Cobalt attitude. One of the lines ... "oh, i forgot, this boat here actually has two batteries. I don't know if you would have that. Do you think you have enough power to help me?"

Part 2:

As for the Colbolt you jumped, last year i jumped this guy at the ramp, same thing backs it down and lanches then you hear him yelling to his son to bring the truck back. We were still getting the prep done. He asks if we have enough power to jump him?

I look at him, then at my settup, i say well i got 2 1100 CCAs in my diesel, and i got 3 850 CCAs in my boat, you tell me if you think its enough to jump your boat.

We jump him and the idiot revs the engine up, lets it run for the next 5 minutes while they back the boat back down to the water. Ran it dry for 5 minutes.. I told Claudia next we will be towing him back because his boat is over heated from no impeller.

I wonder why Cobalt guys have an attitude... it's a dang I/O????

Because to them there I/O is the Master Craft of I/O and they absolutly have no desire or respect for Inboards. In there minds they cant for the life of them figure out why we like them so much.

Pretty much the same feelings we have towards I/O boats. At least for me anyhow. I just cant see why you would spend 40+ K on a boat and not beable to Surf behind it. Also theres so much less seating in them. IDK to each there own i guess.
