The biggest that reason were buy this boat is that we've always liked moomba's look on the water. But from bits that we've read on line is that you need a big V-bottom boat to get a good SURF WAVE behind it any help

You will be fine with that boat.

Get a 750 lb bag for the surf side locker. Hopefully you have a bag in the ski locker already, but add one if you don't. Speed between 9.5 & 10.5 and put the wake plate up. This is your starting point.

Keep reading on here to get ideas for going bigger (except Dusty's posts. He is all talk.).

You will get ideas on: bow sac, cut out the cooler for a port sac, throw sac on the sun deck and/or swim platform, bring along some big ole' friends (male or female - whatever you prefer), giant cooler of beer, etc.

Lots of those boats throw a very nice surf wake but you can set up any boat in the Moomba lineup to throw a nice one too (although I haven't tried surfing a Boomerang!). Just set it up right and have fun!

Camera angles have a bit to do with it. Search around the Wakesurfing section of this site & you will see plenty of great waves.

My 2008 OBV is the same hull as your boat and we get a good wave. One might argue its better with the weight we use than my neighbor's unweighted Malibu 247. It's simple really - more displacement equals a bigger wave. So, a big ole' boat that isn't being sunk won't have as good of a wave as a smaller one that's got more of the hull in the water.

it's a challenge let me tell ya... I tried once behind my buddies. can't really get the ass end in the water far enough to make a decent wave, but it's fun to try..

I was once told that you can surf behind any moomba and need very little ballast. I think they called it "minimalist surfing" :) the boomerang is the first exception.

Well, I think Wolfeman's #2 daughter could surf behind a rubber dinghy with a 4 HP Evinrude. But for a guy who's about 220 it takes a wave with a little push. That minimalist guy is about 150 lbs soaking wet.

I was once a proponent of the minimalist surfing. Still think its good for folks starting out, but now I'm looking for a tsunami makin' machine. Might be one on its way from what I hear. :)

I'm waiting for it. We have...
"Gravity Games Edition"
"Worlds Edition"

So where's the "Tsunami Edition" surf boat? Moomba Mojo 2.5 Tsunami Edition - hmmm, I like that.

I'd rather have the one sponsored by Miller Lite. That'd get my Mojo going.

not me... I'd rather have a mojo that was sponsored by no one.. floating in a lake... sponsored by miller lite.. filled with miller lite..

that wouldn't get my mojo going at all. probably look foward to eatin it just to get a facefull of beer.. although imagine the foam the boat would produce from the prop...
