This is a song my "maybe in the future" son in law re-mixed... it is called Guns and Horses. He goes by Galvanite. What do yall think.

on a side note... how much would someone have to pay you to wakeboard through the Farallon Islands?

tried to get into the whole dubstep scene as I like to listen to remixes and dance mixes, but most of it is just a little too repetitious for me.

A million bucks and having a boat full of tuna chunks for ballast incase the locals get hungry :)

i still am not sure what dub step is. i know we had that music thread and people were posting links to down load dj mixes and i down loaded a couple. worst idea ever. that stuff was awful

Well.. this one he made isn't annoying like some of that stuff... I find it really easy on the ears, very melodic... give it a listen!

Give it another try. I wasn't hot on it at first either. Now I love it.

I'll take your wakeboarding challenge if I don't have to listen to that thing again.

Just to tie it together, there were some good suggestions in this thread. I know we had another one but I can't find it.

On any note, any time we are on the lake after dark, or around sunset, you can bet that we have dubstep playing.

What's wrong with bocephus? I'm more of a classic rock, southern rock guy with some metal mixed in there.

I like that too... Trance once tried to defeat the metal!!! But it was struck down with a mighty KERAAAAANG! :)

I like it. Definitely My favorite kind of music for the boat. But really there isn't much music I don't like, if it has a good beat I'll probably like it. I will agree that some dubstep is wayyy too much like some of the stuff skrillex puts out.

Love the stuff. I'm the only one in my bunch that likes it. That's too bad for everyone else cause its my boat. Lol

a little too melodic for me. i like some of the shrillex, deadmou5e, guetta stuff, but reall like when a dj uses it to mix with songs, like Dj Atwill, scene, brianbass, etc.

chawk610

True it is melodic.. I think he is trying to appeal to a bit wider market...

If anyone likes mashups, I highly recommend Basic Physics. He does tons of mashups with artists like deadmau5, guetta etc. He definitely includes many of the "popular" songs, but it's still good stuff...plus his albums are free. He currently has 2 out, Nightlife in the Northwoods and Lift Off (came out a week ago or so) Definitely not for everyone though.

This will get you nightlife in the northwoods, just click on the album cover on the main page and you will get the zip file with all the songs:

http://www.djbasicphysics.com/home.html

This will get you liftoff, again click on the album cover, I think there are 16 tracks, you don't have to DL them individually (it may point you to their FB page and then you have to "like" it to download):

Let me know what you think, he went to the same college as me although I don't know him personally.

DJ Atwill, Scene, and Sprite all have great mixes. A lot, not all, of dubstep is one monotonous heavy bass beat that gets old quick.

I burned out on Foghat LOOONG ago! I still love my classic rock, classic country, and progressive metal, but give me some electronica these days as well.

Trance and Dubstep are my two favorite Genres.

Some of my top tracks are Ellie Goulding - "Lights" ( Bassnectar Remix)

Skrilex - "Summit" feat. Ellie Goulding

Skrilex - "Kyoto" Feat Sira

Skrillex - "Bangarang" feat Sirah

Pretty much the entire Bangarang album is great...which is why it won a Grammy for best Dance Album

George Acosta is my favorite Trance Producer/DJ

I've tried listening to dubstep stuff before after seeing recommendations on here.
The kids ran screaming from the room.
The dog bit me.
The monitor caught on fire.
And I spilled my beer.

Actually last year I was following you and KG's suggestions on music - introduce dubstep.
FAIL!

My kids tend to look at me like I'm crazy half the time anyway after I tell them I've got something cool to show them. Pretending I didn't already know that I played some more for them after reading this thread.
FAIL!

I'm thinking dubstep is more a new form of torture aimed at those of us over the age of 35. ;)

finally listened to this as I had to find a real pc to play it on..

nothing personal chawk, but I won't be downloading and listening to it again. too repetitious-not my cup...

tell him to keep at it tho. it's a very popular genre of music and a lot that like it...

pretty good tune.
I too am fond of skrillex, deadmau5, Nero, Calvin Harris

have become a big fan of Pretty Lights, guy is good and all his albums can be downloaded for free on his site (you can donate if you want).

girltalk is awesome, just harder to listen to with the Kiddos around

I've never really heard much/gotten into dubstep too much, but I have started noticing it in a lot of wake videos the past few years, so its starting to grow on me. I like skrillex a lot
