Go Pro

So , I got a Go Pro Helmut cam for my BD. I have loosely been following some of these threads and I was ecstatic to get it but I don't think it is the newest version...should I take it back and upgrade????? or be happy with what I got?.....btw I was surprised and am happy :)

From my limited knowledge, you will be happier with a Hero2 model.

The hd2 has a 10 mp camera the hd1 has a 5mp. The frame rate is also doubled on the hd2. A few other small differences. Hd2 is the way to go

But neither is user friendly from what I've heard is that correct? I got a gift card for Xmas to use for the purchase of a go pro HD but from the reading I have done they aren't the easiest tool to use. Is that correct LSV? I also sign up daily to win the gopro giveaway daily but so far I've come up empty handed. It's about crunch time to use the gift card or not for the HD2

I had the original Go Pro and I sold it and now I have the Go Pro2. The picture quality is much better on the Go Pro2, better colors and low light capability. If you have the option get the 2.

The one works fine, the two is better. The go pro is really meant for close up videoing. Pretty easy once you set it up.the wide view is a cool feature. You can't zoom the close up. My only beef is no software to edit from like the contour hd, but that is only water resistant no water proof. Ms video software blows. Wish I had an imac .

I've used both and the HD2 seems much easier & I'd say its easy to use.

They both have a couple of buttons that control everything. So it just a matter of learning the abbreviations and sifting thru the menu

Well , I went out and swapped it forthe Hero 2. Also ordered a GoPro life jacket neoprene wrap floaty for it and something else off line that right now I have no friggin clue what it was.(must be the 50) Remembered its the 32 gig hd card at a 45mb/s speed

Now I just need a suction cup for my boat so I can get the down low surfing shots and the pylon mount and with all my stereo gadgets I'll never have time to actually do any skiing as I'll be too busy trying to get all the setting friggin right.......good thing we have an off season to read all these manuals and posts

FYI, the floaty life jacket door won't support the weight of the suction cup mount and it will sink. Ether get a tether or get the handle bar fixed mount to the transom grab rail.

Exactly right. The floaty back door is not enough to keep the whole rig floating.

I use a good size foam key float attached to the suction base in addition to the floaty back door. The combo keeps everything floating and if the camera were to seperate from the base the floaty back door would keep the camera from sinking.

Tethering the rig and keeping it out of the water is even better.
