I've been wanting to do this since the day we got the boat, and finally got around to it. The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. Man, I am soooo glad this is done. I hated having it mounted on top of the deck.

That's a big hole!

Sexy finisher!

This whole project took 20 minutes start to finish. I used my jigsaw with a bimetal blade and it cut through with ease. I Had ash on the inside of the locker with the shopvac catching the dust. Remote and bezel dropped in the hole and tightend up like a glove!

Nice work!

Hope Ash had a mask on so she wasn't breathing in fiberglass dust. That stuff is nasty.

If by mask you mean "cover your face and close your eyes babe" then yeah, she nailed it.

I hope it lasts a long time and they never change the size and shape of them if it doesn't. Cuz it looks great.

That tooks some balls! No way I would have tackeled that. I was soo nervouse when I drilled the hole for the transom light and it was only 1/2".

Dusty I am doing that with my Kenwood 107mr remote soon. The jigsaw didn't leave a rough finish in the gel?

It cut right through it. The blade didn't want to make the curve on the bottom left, so it looks a bit jagged. But overall, it left a very clean cut.

Kane-I have the original as backup!

The 107mr replaced the commander remote and it is a different shape. I thought about flush mounting my 107r and then decided against it. Being that it has an electronics display I was not sure of the life span of this item being on the back of the boat. It is marine and should last but you know how that is.

I posted at the same time you did dusty. Good feeling that you have a back up remote.

When I did mine with the 107 I used a RotoZip, it was like $50 at HomeDepot and cut through the glass like butta. It's like a drill, so it does corners a little easier than a jig saw would.

Nice looking work mang, remind me when i did this. I would put my fist threw it. I climb over the nose all the time when launching the boat, since i forgot my phone was in my pocket one time and dunked it at the ramp LOL. It only took one slip and singing the high note all day to deside a flip light was in order.

Dusty that remote came out looking great. I think you wasted your time using the cutout template though. The dirt ring seemed to outline exactly what you needed gone :)
