Not what you're thinking . . . . Dusty's Mom is all I need for THAT mojo!

I've got my finger on the trigger and wouldn't mind a few final opinions before I place my Moomba Mojo order. Below are a few color options and the specs for the boat.

Option 1:

That color scheme but instead of Green go with brittany. That all black bottom looks sick

Don't forget to vote in the poll. It wil make things a little easier on me.

Here is Option 5 (black, brittany, black):

I would go #5. If the top cap and the interior fiberglass can be matched Brittany blue...that would really set it apart. Colored interior fiberglass is the cat's pajamas and makes a boat stand out from the one with white parked next to it. And lets be honest, a white top cap is gonna get hot, a blue cap is gonna get hot. Hot is hot...get wet if you are hot.

Unfortuately, not offered in 2012. Maybe future years, but not this one. Does that change your vote? And, you didn't vote for your least favorite in retaliation for the Mom joke, did ya?

dusty2221

Ha, you silly.

Use your mod power and move the best looking option up into your original post. It wont get the votes it deserves not being up there.

Option 2 and 5 is similar to the color scheme we are looking at. Got a year to think about it though... :-(

I do like option 5 the best...

I'm going with option 4.

I think it'll be easier to keep clean and spot free, and for those that think white is hot and blue is hot and it's all the same... you're on drugs :) if you have kids, keep the top white.

kaneboats
02-23-2012, 05:05 PM
I'll take all of them. I like 1 and 3 the best but voted for 3 only because the white bottom is harder to keep looking white. Don't like black because of maintenance- have to wax daily. Oh yeah, forget the Carolina blue one. Looks kinda girly or something.

Get the 7 way plug if your truck has it already, i hate the little flat plug and after the first time i used it on Betty is when we went camping it fell off at some point draggin on the freeway destroying the Reverse prung, then when turning into the camp site at the last minute as Claudia GPS is pretty questionable, i got stuck not being able to back the boat up blocking the whole campsite, it was embarrasing, i finaly spliced into the connector and jumped it to the running lights to get out of the situation LOL.

Wheels are always nice but if there more then 600 upgrade forget about it, you can buy them aftermarket and sell the rims on there for 50 each to guys needing spares, to help off set the cost of the optional ones.

F2 jack, well i think you set up the group buy on that, if so look into getting that price for you now, other wise add it for sure as the stock jack just looks jacked.

Transom straps, unless there rachetting and less then 100 forget them too and buy the ones like i got from Overtons bro.

mike,

always carry nickles in your truck. if the reverse actuator goes out, you can use 2 nickels and a helper to manually back the trailer up :)

agree on the f2 and for sure the transom straps. mine were $59 at the local bassboat dealer.. ratcheting and heavy duty.

I did, and taped them together, lets just say my trailer has a little gap in the tongue and i got a nickle still jamed in there. I need to pull the whole system apart now.

I now carry the official trailer lock out tab that i can tape in place. lol

We ended up unhooking the boat pushing it away from the truck and moving the truck and reconnecting the boat. Then the next morning i went to the little town and found a Napa and a 7 pin plug and got her fixed proper LOL

Number 5 for me.

F2, get the on board charger since you have the perm dock area.

Wheels are cool but if you dont trailer it much not worth it .

I voted for option 5. FWIW you don't have to have your colors picked when you order it just by the build date. We ordered ours 2-3 weeks ago and our build date is 3/27 so I would assume you'll have some time before you have to be 100% sure.

funny kaneboats!

Mojo order placed late this afternoon w/ Atlanta Marine. Option #5 won out for colors:

http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd344/wolfeman131/Mojo/Mojo5.png

loaded it up with the following:

• 345 hp motor w/ Digital Cruise
• Acme 1235 prop
• Wakeplate w/ GIII ballast
• Snap in carpet w/ logo
• Black stainless rubrail
• Bow filler cushion
• Moomba chrome graphic
• Depth finder
• Dual battery w/ charger
• Surf Platform
• Swivel wakeboard racks
• Logo cover
• Tower bimini
• 7 way trailer plug

• Going to have Atlanta Marine install my old school Moomba-etched cleats (new ones are plain)
• Going to have AVC Marine install a boomin’ Wetsounds system

I also plan to order a custom bag from Wakemakers that runs up to the battery compartment & a bow sac. Going to steal lsvboombox's "Y valve" setup and run the bow sac and starboard (non-surf for us) side off the same pump. May also try and do the same for the custom bag. Once center tank is full, have it divert to a second fill line in the custom sac.

I went with the majority from the forum and I really do appreciate all of the input & insights. It was much more difficult to do than I thought it would be. I wanted every option, but the budget just wouldn't allow it.

Ah, no blue truck Berg and probably no new truck at all in the future. The wife's Sequoia is black, so that's going to have to do for the 2 times per year that I tow the boat.

Only thing its going to impact is that now your driveing a diferent vehicle south with a big blue tailgater the whole way, besides how am I ever going to find out if a Mojo fits in my garage. The house, pool and warm water lake our your's to use as long as you keep the beer fridge stocked and are waiting at the dock for me when I get off work for a surf session. Heck I could even call in sick for the week. L and D are off that week also.

I think you both are correct.

I think Atlanta Marine helped me out a ton by moving one of their stock spray dates to my order. They probably were anticipating that my stones would drop with the warm weather and I'd officially move forward with ordering a boat.

Shipping/freight can be a killer in any business and can easily wipe out a good chunk of the money any manufacturer hopes to make. It's much more efficient (less cost per boat) if they send a truckload versus a single unit.

Drew - Thats probably the nicest looking Moomba I've seen. I'm always partial to the blues. I've seen a few solid blues, but I like the offsets with the black. Curious question (I don't know my Moomba details 100%). Does the windshield come dark like that from the factory? If so, super nice. If not, I suppose a quick tint job is in order. Makes it look really damn nice in the proto photo tho.

Great looking boat, I emailed Atlanta marine this morning about getting build pics of mine. I didnt read the complete thread, did you stay with the digital cruise or go with the gps. The demo I drove was digital and had a lot of variance
while turning, the supra with gps was smooth in the corners which is why we chose the gps option. I'm hoping it's as
smooth as the supra.

wolfeman131
03-22-2012, 12:57 PM
Thanks!

I stayed with the Digital Cruise. You shouldn't have had any variance while in turns unless it somehow was set to RPM mode vs MPH mode. If you demo'd the blue Mojo, I have been in that boat 1/2 dz times and never had an issue.

From the PerfectPass website:

The GPS Speed reading never needs calibration and is more accurate than the paddle wheel. On some boats the flow of water over the paddle can become disturbed based on hull design, etc. This is not an issue with GPS. In addition, there is no longer concern about paddle wheel damage on trailers or lifts.

GPS is based on speed over ground, so if you have strong currents you may wish to stay with the paddle wheel. Running Star Gazer in slow currents may require a tweak of the set speed to adjust for the current.

Greg C.
03-22-2012, 02:33 PM
It was a blue one, I didnt think much of it until I drove the Supra with GPS. The Supra was so much smoother in the corners, hardly noticable. Oh well, its ordered now. Thanks for the info.

You mean the pics of the dudes in speedos you kept PM'ing me about last week while I was on the beach?

If you're talking about my new boat, I'm about to go crazy as I can't get my hands on it for a few days due to work. Coming off vacation is sometimes such a b!tch with all the follow up and I have a meeting tomorrow I just can't get out of. Maybe have it at the house Thursday or Friday, but gotta watch getting fined by the HOA.

I'm real excited to say that I think the OBV has found a GREAT home! The family that is wanting to buy the boat is very excited and we plan to close the deal on Wed. The Dad has been lurking on the board, so I'll let him announce himself when he's ready.

Hope ya snapped pics of the right mojo wolfey!!! I can't hardly believe your keeping her at the dealership this long, I say screw the HOA.

I say that as I'm fielding email complaints from my HOA regarding basketball goals and weeds at the one rental house in the entire neighborhood. Have yet to get a complaint about my boat in driveway on weekends but I'm sure that email will come soon enough. Y'all gonna hit the water tomo after school I hope?

Yep, had to modify the lift a bit. Moved the rear lift point/beam back 2 ft. Had to add 3, 2x8 beams, reinstall pulleys, etc. put down longer bunk boards, etc. doesn't sound like much, but its a pain running the cables, etc.

I know! And it was a real difference looking at it in the rearview mirror and side mirrors from the OBV. I did like how the tandem axle pulled and the standard Boatmate trailers now have leaf springs.

mmandley

Congratz on the new boat man, i remember how i felt towing it home the first day, but it was pouring rain LOL.

Couple things, better say them prayers, wave the MoJo beads, and bless her for being brought home on Friday the 13th. I would have pushed pickup 1 more day LOL.

Secondly you will now know what the tandems are a much nicer trailer to pull, but a real pain to hook up if you dont get your hitch alignment right.

Also i would look into raising that tongue up, its prety low for a tandem. I would stick a Level right on your frame and get the trailer sitting level. You really dont want it tilted to much forward like a single axle trailer, it will cause more wear on your front axle, more stress, and makes the trailer handle different. Remember the tandem axles arnt rated as high as a single axle so you need to keep the balance more even to load the 2 axles the same.

Thanks, guys!!! The entire family is stoked!

Yes, Mike we debated on picking her up yesterday, but couldn't wait as Atlanta Marine and other ATL dealers are having an on-water boat show this weekend, so it was yesterday or late next week and I couldn't stand to wait any longer. We did wait to tow to the lake house until this morning. Thanks for the advice on the trailer. Good excuse to either get a new truck or at least one of those fancy, adjustable receivers. I only tow about 400 miles per year, but any excuse works for me.

We didn't clock many hours today. By the time we got 3 kids & the dog loaded, it was Noon before we made it to the lake house. I had to carpet & install the bunks and ran into a few questions/issues with alignment. I was afraid the rear lift point was too far forward and not underneath the motor, but ended up we were OK. Then, had to mess with the width and we still have some work to get them perfect.

But, we loved the few hours we were in the boat. The kids love the filler cushion in front. Not only laying on top, but my 4 yr old son liked crawling under it. The wife loved the room and how comfy the seats were all around the boat. After I got her off the trailer and checked that all was OK, I had to get in line to drive her. My wife, daughters and son all ditched me in line!

Can't wait to have my morning cup o' Joe tomorrow while cruising the lake. Got to get a ton of work done around the house, but hoping to get at least 5 more hours on the clock and wrap up the break in next weekend.

SOunds awesome man, yea i forgot you dont tow to often, if thats the case it prolly wont make a big deal then man. Since i tow evertime we goto the lake and at least 3 times a year to LBC 180 miles threw the mountians its important to keep mine leveled. Last thing i need is a tire or axle issue comming around a mountian curve. Or passing them other Diesels going up the mountain pulling smaller boats then mine muahahaha

I wonder how difficult it would be to retro fit the new leaf spring set up on an older torsion axle trailer. I'm starting to develop some negative camber and the inside of my tires are paying the price

Did you order it without or just basic. Does it come pre wired if ordered without?
Whatever you do, it will be first rate.. Can brad and I come down and help if dusty and his mom shows up. Lol

wolfeman131

I was kinda bummed to learn that you can no longer order a boat w/out a stereo and receive a credit. I was also a bit wor
ried how the bow might be finished off if the optional speakers weren't ordered. So, basic stereo w/ amp and bow speaker option. So, good enough as now it's partially pre wired and the tower is pre drilled for speakers.

You & Brad are welcome anytime!

What's the break in on the new 345 cat surf motors?

From what I read in the manuals, it's the same as the others:

Not over 1,000 rpm hour 1
Not over 2,000 rpm hour 2
Not over 3,000 rpm hour 3
Not over 4,000 rom hours 4-10

No heavy loads (I.e. ballast), no heavy acceleration, etc for first 10. Same as I remember for OBV. Followed that to the letter and my boat always ran great, so doing it again. I did catch that the manual reads to run 89 octane and I ran 87 in the OBV. Might easily be a $4.00+ per gallon summer for us. :(

I should have been less technical with my first reply to JV. The break in period is brutally BORING & TEDIOUS!!

There is just a ton to do around the lakehouse to get ready for summer that we hopped on the boat and cranked out a few hours in between jobs. I promise more pics soon.

NIce Wolf, yea the break in is a pain actually. We followed ours the same way when we got it in 09. What we did though was take it down the river, sight seeing, this way it didnt seem so bad. We also played my game called wake boarder down where we randomly threw a rubber foot ball off the boat and the driver had to pretend it was your rider and go get them. The key was learning to get close enough to grab the ball but not let the boats wake push it away LOL.

It made the hours click by a lot faster.

Got the break-in hours completed yesterday afternoon. My OBV ran flawlessly so I followed the break-in procedure for the Mojo to the letter and expect to have the same results (knock on wood). My oldest daughter brought a friend along for the weekend and made her endure hours of driving around the lake. So, I'm embarrassed a bit to admit this, after we hit 10:01 on the clock, the tube was thrown out behind the boat. Hey, I mentioned that I bought the boat for the kids and they LOVE it! We only had 1 1/2 hr left before we had to head home, so the tube was a great way to get 3 of them in the water & having some fun.

Rainbows in the clouds - knew it was going to be a great day!

Only part is that the instructins state you need a 5/16" allen wrench when it's actually a 3/16". Four screws for the tower mount, one to attach the mirror to the arm and one for the arm to the mount. Really liked how the mirror has 3 lenses and how the outer two let you see out to the sides of the boat.

I would have never thought to mount that to the tower above.
