This will be launched next week to defend our borders. This is how we roll, or should I say float, in TX..

Oddly enough whenever I watch border wars I always think about how good the rio grande looks for wakeboarding.

Who needs water ballast when you have tons in machine guns and ammo?

I've ridden in one of these in Sarasota. They are awesome, yellowfin IMO is the best center console out there!

Absolutely!!! This might be a little overkill (maybe just 2 Merc 300's instead of 3...lol) but when it comes to the violence going on at or near the Texas border...it's money well spent IMO.

Overkill? I was out on a holiday weekend in FL a few years ago and saw county police in boats, FL Fish & Wildlife patrol, state police and Coast Guard. Each one has a different focus. Some on fishing, some on drugs, some on general safety. Talk about tax dollars at work. Look at the stuff they spend on in FL:

I love a big center console boat. There is one on our local lake, think its about a 40 footer with 3 300 Merc on the back, guy pulls it with a semi. Boat and truck are completely "whited" out.

Yes, exactly. Better on this than expanding welfare and teaching my kids spanish... ok, off my soapbox.

Florida has it much tougher as far as terrain/waterways. You guys have the ocean, intercoastal, canals, and marshland/swamps. It's justifies the equipment in your pics. In Texas we have the gulf and one biga$$ river. My guess is that that they went with highway patrol because of statewide jurisdiction instead of Parks & Wildlife (safety and fish/game) or Sheriffs Dept (limited jurisdiction).

600,000 dollar boat and they got 5 more of them coming....

Its sounds like they are just for the rio and the lakes that order with mexico.

Guess Texas is still pissed at that American jet skier that was murdered by alleged drug cartel members on that border lake.

that thing would be badass to drive, but it would suck knowing the guys you are pursuing are likely more heavily armed, especially with press releases showing what it is.. you know every bad guy out there with a boat just bought rpg's and more 50cals for their boats..

I dont think other states with the exception of Florida, New Mex, Arizona, or Cali understand the severity of the drug issues in Texas in it's border town crime rate, violence, and recruitment of U.S. Citizens into the drug and weapons trade. Best to have the equipment when needed then realize what you need and don't have it. Everyone has their own opinion, this is just mine as a resident of Texas.

Better to be well prepared - or have more than you need - when it comes to law enforcement.

my uncle had his work suburban stolen a few years ago. his sales route goes from abq. to el paso. it was stolen in el paso.
insurance guy told him a year later they found the rig in juarez. it was being used by the local police as a troop transport..

I'm trying to figure out a way to do some temporary work with DPS and get some service time on that patrol operation

Well, I think it's a shame that our feds ignore the real issues at the border. The cost should be borne by all of the US, not just the border states. It's a shame that a state needs those boats.

True enough... it's a problem for the entire country. Illegals and drug runners don't just stay in border states. As it is, I refuse to go anywhere near the border. My father in law used have a family boat outing on Lake Amistad... no more. :(

I can't believe it's a highway patrol boat. I would think it would come from Border Patrol or some other department. At least they could have been creative and called it the Bi-Way Patrol Boat or something :)

on a side note..........they can build 20 of them for all I care. Keep them illegals out and the traffic'ers DEAD!

It looks like it has a variation of a Z5.

I just hope this boat can be used as designed and the officers get the support they need to fix the problems down south. If we stop them dead in their tracks at the border they will not become an issue. Only if it was that simple.
