Yep...It's 2005, could probably get it dirt cheap, but I've already restored 2 other boats and I've learned my lesson...

I think it's the same boat, they used red duct tape for the repairs..Blue probably costs more... :)

There's a dealer a mile from my office that sells mainly runabouts, bass boats, and pontoons. However, in 2007 they thought they'd give wakeboats a chance. They got 3 Centurions and 1 Epic...all new models back in 2007. ALL 4 boats sat outside, uncovered for 4 years straight in the Texas sun and never sold until 2011 summer. Matter of fact, Epic voided their own warranty because of neglect by the dealer. I have no idea what Centurion did about the 3 other boats. I looked in the boats and the vinyl was so baked and faded. Some of the trim pieces were warped. None of the stereo systems worked anymore (speakers were dry rotted).

Looks like that moomba went thru a flood or was submerged, look at the crude on the amp and around the engine.

for the right price, that will make a good deal for someone. I would guess that there's nothing wrong with the hull.

that being said, 17k is WAY off the right price.. thinking 10k would be a better starting point considering there's 2k in upholstery and possibly 3k in a new shortblock, not to mention time/effort/energy chasing down and replacing electrical gremlins..

That's what I was thinking around $10k, but I'm looking for a v-drive...

Duct tape is cheap, that is an easy and fast fix.

Assuming you have been searching onlyinboards.com as well as local craigslist ads? We were in the same range at the end of last summer and just searched constantly for one and jumped when a nice looking one came on the market. We had a lot of work done on ours though. Ended up finding ours on craigslist.

Yep, have google reader searching all craigslist locations, claz.org, onlyinboards.com, ebay and a few other sites...

Back in Oct/Nov I had a few to choose from, but was waiting for a yellow one. Then I tore my ACL in Oct and had surgery so that put a damper on the search. One of the boats I was looking at back then is still available but now the guy isn't responding so I'm back at square one, again... :)

I'm guessing that price range and a vdrive will be a quick sale no matter where you look, especially in the spring.

you're challenge is being a potential out of state buyer.

keep looking and something will materialize..

Yep...And there's always the perfect one that's just a tad above my budget, but by the time I commit it's gone. Of course the budget has then been increased, only to happen again... :) I actually started around $10k...hehehe..

you're EXACTLY where i was 2 years ago... keep looking... you'll find something. Call the guys at Lauderdale Lakes Marina and let them know what you're looking for. They'll help keep an eye out for you. I drove up there from SC to get my boat.

I can't look the wreck you guys are talking about here at work, so I'll send it home and check it out tonight...

I almost bought a TIGE that was in dire need of tons of TLC...It was in my price range, but it needed new everything it seemed like...hull and drivetrain were the only things I think didn't need work, but it was a boat from some camp (wakeboard I guess), and he (the dealership) tells me he doens't actually know how many hours are on it becuase it was broke, ad that it has a "slight vibrations he's sure is nothing". That's when I said "nevermind" and got back in my car and left for the 3 hour drive home...

Yeah, ours was 6+ hours away in Illinois, we were driving from Central WI. We just offered asking price since we were afraid he'd sell it out from under us.

parrothd - Lauderdale Lakes Chicago is bringing a 2003 Outback LSV in this weekend from its sister store in Wisconsin (Lauderdale Lakes Marina). Yes, it's above your price range, but might be worth a trip to check it out, meet Don Schnurr the sales manager, and let him know you are in the market. He has a large show room and lots of contacts. Lauderdale Lakes Chicago is a recent addition to the Lauderdale company and opened in September. It is the Moomba/Supra dealer for northern Illinois. Also carries Nautique tournament boats as well as a couple of pontoon lines. Don's been in the business a long time and knows his stuff. Happy hunting! - Deerfield

Dealer prices are insane... :)

There's a nice white black 2007 outback LSV w/137 hours listed on craigslist, has tower, ballast, and extras for the same price. From the pics it looks in really good condition..

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think private sellers are going to be my best bet. The dealers have to add their markup to stay in business...

I now feel a lot better about the condition of my 2005 boat's upholstery. I need to use some strong cleanser and have two small high-wear areas repaired. If I ever have to use duct tape, I'll try to match colours. :-)

Doesn't hurt to let several dealers know what you are looking for and willing to pay. They hear from a lot of people. Lots of them would buy a new boat this year if they were guaranteed no hassle in getting the current boat sold. I can think of a couple people like that right off the top of my head. If one of them fits your description you might be the key to a new boat sale.

Kane nailed it, we dealt with a few dealers and just pre-apologized for our low offer and said that is what we were willing to pay. They were actually pretty receptive, most want to turn over their boats. We probably would have ended up with a boat from a dealer had we not decided that we really wanted a V-drive.

I've finally heard back and we've agreed on a price and details, just waiting to hear back where to send the deposit and check it out next week.. Keeping fingers crossed... :)
